This project supports the Inte...rnational Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in its work to prevent and reduce sexual violence in armed conflicts. Women and girls face increased vulnerability in situations of conflict and displacement, as rape and other forms of sexual violence may be used systematically as an act of reprisal and to create fear. The consequences are far reaching, affecting survivors not only physically but psychologically and socially. For this reason, ICRC has a special initiative to strengthen its response to sexual violence, with the intention of improving delivery of services, prevention of sexual violence, and improving the capacity of its staff to respond. The ICRC also works with States, weapons bearers, religious and traditional leaders, and communities to promote awareness of sexual violence, including awareness of International Humanitarian Law obligations prohibiting sexual violence in armed conflict. The ICRC has a unique role working in conflict zones, with access to areas inaccessible by many other organizations and with greater credibility in advocating for the protection of civilians, including vulnerable women and girls.

This project aims to: (1) prov...ide access to justice for women and girls who have petitioned the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to resolve violations of their rights; and (2) help member states of the IACHR meet their obligations to prevent, protect, investigate and act to correct the historical and structural discrimination, gender inequality and violence against women and girls in Latin America and the Caribbean. The project supports the IACHR in its work to address petitions, cases and requests of precautionary measures (rapid response in situations where there is an imminent risk of irreparable harm) related to discrimination and violence against women and girls. The project also supports IACHR member states in their efforts to meet regional standards (legal decisions and case law interpretations on state obligations to comply with commitments under the American Human Rights Convention and the Organization of American States Charter) and promote structural changes aimed at preventing violence against women and girls. Project activities include: (1) providing training for beneficiaries and stakeholders (public officials, women and girls); (2) holding public hearings with petitioners, victims and states; (3) organizing working meetings with stakeholders and members of the IACHR; and (4) providing states with guidance on applying IACHR recommendations and assisting states to incorporate them into domestic law.

EMPOWERING WOMEN TO OVERCOME F...ACTORS OF STRUCTURAL VIOLENCE IN LATIN AMERICA

|
Empowering women to overcome f...actors of structural violence in Latin America
more
|
Throughout the developing worl...d, young men and women face high unemployment coupled with strong feelings of dissatisfaction with their quality of life in contexts of weak governance and institutions, increased political instability, and growing state authoritarianism — factors that render societies vulnerable and play a role in radicalization. Predominant strategies to counter these phenomena remain state-centered, with limited participation of civil society stakeholders. Populations who suffer most from this violence, insecurity, and lack of civic engagement, such as young men and women, continue to be largely excluded from participating in policy and governance related decisions. But youth are active in an array of movements associated with emerging social, economic, cultural, and political issues. In Latin America, one dimension of violence is associated with the obstacles women face when seeking to actively participate in public affairs. This type of political violence hinders the possibility of women to influence and/or directly act on policies or actions that could potentially solve other dimensions of violence such as physical, racial, or sexual. Women and other gender minorities within the LGBTI community face a double challenge when addressing these issues, because political representation is simultaneously limited by discriminatory barriers and by the collapse of the traditional structures of political representation, such as political parties.Supported by Asuntos del Sur, a think tank based in Argentina, this project aims to test and refine an approach that builds the leadership capacities of young women in Latin America, especially in the areas of sexual and gender-based violence. The aim is to develop monitoring and evaluation capacities and tools within the organization to test their approach in terms of efficiency, sustainability, and impact. It will consist of a research agenda aimed at identifying, understanding, and systematizing innovative political processes that focus on eradicating structural factors of violence against women; pursuing strategies that increase the empowerment of young women; nurturing regional innovation by disseminating experiences, tools, and concepts learned; and by participating in regional networks such as the Organization of American States. This project is part of a cluster of projects, Giving youth a voice: promoting spaces for civic engagement, inclusion, and violence reduction in South Asia and Latin America, launched in June 2017.

FAMILY LAW REFORM TO CHALLENGE... GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE: A RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE-BASED ADVOCACY PROJECT

Family Law Reform to Challenge... Gender-Based Violence: A Research and Knowledge-Based Advocacy Project
more
|
Although gender-based violence... (GBV) is endemic globally, some of the highest rates in the world are found in Muslim-majority countries where conservative interpretations of Islamic Family Law persist. Such interpretations often lead to and justify practices such as early child and forced marriage, loss of guardianship by the mother of her children, prohibition of women from initiating divorce, the practice of honour killing, and the right of parents and family members to control the bodies of their spouses, daughters, and female relatives, including the practice of female genital mutilation. As a result, any solution to GBV must address both legislation and cultural understanding if legal reform is to succeed. Such a solution must involve the promotion of moderate interpretations of Islamic Law, by women, women's groups, and other civil society organizations, to challenge the authority of fundamentalist religious authorities and others. This project aims to empower women by informing them about Islamic Family Law, and to provide more moderate interpretations of these laws to protect their human rights as well as to prevent and overcome GBV. This proposed research and advocacy project on GBV will be led by the Lebanon-based Women's Learning Partnership (WLP), building on its 15-year history of research and advocacy training on combating gender-based violence in more than 50 countries. The project seeks to (1) challenge GBV through research and the development of locally-led new knowledge on how to reform Family Law in Muslim-majority countries; (2) use the research as a basis for effective national advocacy against GBV; and (3) build a global advocacy network, the first of its kind, for those who experience GBV justified in the name of religion. The countries of focus will be Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Palestinian Territories, Morocco, Mauritania, Pakistan, Senegal, and India (where Muslims are a minority). WLP's wide-scale partnership with well-established organizations located in countries with Muslim majorities in the Global South and India will enable it to reach the widest number of beneficiaries and provide culturally specific, effective solutions for countering GBV. The organization's long history of work with international organizations, including the United Nations and the World Bank, will also allow it to effectively mobilize the international community in support of a global advocacy campaign against GBV.

Improving nutrition, health an...d livelihoods through enhanced homestead food production: A strategy to reduce child marriage in Bangladesh
more
|
Bangladesh has the world's hig...hest rate of child marriage among girls under the age of 15. Two-thirds of Bangladeshi girls are married before they turn 18, nearly half become pregnant before 19, and the rates of stunting and underweight are 26% and 36%, respectively. Poverty is the most commonly cited reason for driving families towards child marriage, but the drivers of early marriage are diverse. Previous research has shown that homestead food production is an effective tool to diversify diets, improve nutrition, and generate income in a range of geographical areas and livelihood conditions. This project will test the hypothesis that by enhancing food production and generating income, young girls in Bangladesh will experience lower rates of marriage and pregnancy, and improved food security, dietary diversity, nutritional status and better livelihood conditions overall as compared to a control group. The project aims to implement a gender-transformative enhanced homestead food production and income generation program to document its efficacy in preventing child marriage, and in turn, adolescent pregnancy-induced malnutrition, among girls aged 13-15 years in southern Bangladesh's Khulna division, a high-risk area for child marriage. The project will conduct a cluster-randomized controlled trial in which 1,200 girls in afterschool youth clubs participate in a 24-month program on women's empowerment through hands-on workshops. Participants will be trained in sexual and reproductive health, water, sanitation, and hygiene. Those in the enhanced homestead food production group will also be trained in vegetable, poultry, and small livestock production to help improve nutrient intake and provide a source of income for the families of adolescent girls. The project will also address the traditional beliefs and social norms associated with the high prevalence of child marriage in Bangladesh by using a gender-transformative approach that has reported positive effects on women's decision-making, mobility, and time use.

This project aims to improve t...he well-being of women domestic workers in Bangladesh. Approximately 1.8 million Bangladeshi women are employed as domestic workers in Dhaka, many facing gender-based violence on a regular basis. These women are disadvantaged due to lack of skills and specific vulnerabilities leading to routine exploitation and abuse, and lack of awareness of and protection for their rights. Project activities include: (1) providing women with skills training for formal job opportunities; (2) increasing women's awareness of and protection of their rights; and (3) building the capacity of the Government of Bangladesh and its civil society partners to implement and monitor the Domestic Worker Protection and Welfare Policy.

This project aims to strengthe...n Bangladesh's capacity to both reduce actual violence against women and girls and the widespread acceptance of violence against women in Bangladesh. It provides women with tools to improve their own safety, in public, at home, and at work and at the same time it works with public and private institutions to implement policies to prevent violence against women. The project collaborates with families and communities to create more gender equitable roles and relations inside households. It also supports and reinforces Bangladesh's own policies and regulations concerning violence against women and generates knowledge and capacity that contribute to more effective prevention of gender-based violence by government and civil society.

The project supports the UNFPA...-UNICEF Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage, a multi-donor joint United Nations program aimed at eliminating child marriage in 12 countries in Africa and South Asia where the rates of child marriage are among the highest: Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia. The project focuses on enabling girls at risk of child marriage to choose and direct their own futures, through activities aimed at bringing about change in the empowerment of girls, with the ultimate aim to prevent child marriage and support already married girls. Project activities include: (1) building the skills and knowledge of girls at risk of child marriage, and married girls; (2) supporting girls to enrol and remain in formal and non-formal education; (3) engaging in dialogue with families, communities and leaders to protect girls from child marriage and uphold their rights; and (4) working with health and protection systems to implement guidelines, protocols and standards for girl-friendly health and protection services. The beneficiaries are girls at risk of child marriage or those already married in Africa and South Asia, particularly those in the 12 countries mentioned above. The project aims to address ba...rriers that hinder the demand for and access to education for girls, adolescent girls and women in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region in south-eastern Bangladesh. The CHT is a multi-ethnic, conflict-affected region where poverty and cultural norms severely restrict access to basic education and employment for girls and women from both indigenous and settler populations. The project addresses the barriers through support to 300 pre-primary and primary schools, serving approximately 20,000 students, and through skills training. Activities are designed to provide inclusive, gender- and environmentally-responsive education at the pre-primary and primary levels; and increase access to gender-sensitive, demand-driven technical and vocational education and training for adolescent girls and women, including those with disabilities. The project aims to improve the retention rates for approximately 12,000 girls and adolescent girls; strengthen the knowledge and skill levels of approximately 900 teachers; and enhance employment opportunities for approximately 1,000 adolescent girls and women.

This project aims to reduce an...d prevent violence against women in Bolivia and improve public services at the municipal level, in order for them to better respond to the needs of women. Violence against women is the main obstacle to women's ability to exercise their rights, to gain autonomy at the economic, social and political level and to contribute to the country's development. The project focuses on the transformation of social and cultural attitudes in order to reduce the social acceptability of violence against women and youth. It also strengthens the capacities of key stakeholders at the municipal level in budgeting techniques in order for these to integrate the needs of women and girls. The activities of the project include the development and implementation of: 1) awareness-raising campaigns on beliefs/attitudes targeting youth and teachers; 2) a training program on leadership organized for young women and strategic allies; 3) a program and tools to strengthen the competencies of civil society leaders and municipal decision-makers in gender-sensitive budgeting; 4) a digital platform on the budget and municipal services as a means for fostering greater interaction between civil society and the municipalities targeted by the project. The project is being implemented in seven municipalities of the metropolitan regions of La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, which represent 40 % of Bolivia's population, or about 4.2 million inhabitants (CENSO 2012). A total of 20,000 people, 60 % of whom are women, are directly benefitting from the project. Moreover, the project aims to strengthen the management and budgeting capacities of more than 350 municipal decision-makers, 80 % of whom are women.

|
|

Recognize-Resist-Remedy: A res...earch project to combat gender-based hate speech against women in Brazil and India

Neither India nor Brazil have ...laws that effectively respond to sexism in online hate speech, in part because hate speech classifications in the law fail to comprehensively cover sexist speech. With only piecemeal legislation, the legal system ignores the violation of women's dignity and the fault lines of class, ethnicity, race, and caste that lead to gender-based hate speech. There are also definitional and jurisdictional challenges in applying the law to the online environment.'Recognize-Resist-Remedy will focus on institutional and individual transformation to combat sexist and misogynistic speech online in Brazil and India. This project will identify the main shortcomings that need to be addressed through legal reform. It will also harness the window of opportunity created by women speaking out in these environments to tackle the proliferation of sexist and misogynistic speech online. The aim of the project is to input recommendations into emerging policy processes, intermediary liability regimes, and governance frameworks for online content. The project will also work with young people to shift attitudes to demonstrate how deep change is possible.IT for Change (India) and InternetLab (Brazil) will work together on the research in both countries using an interdisciplinary critical feminist framework. They will use a mixed methods approach incorporating legal and policy analysis, field research, case studies analysis, participatory action research, and validation through a global experts meeting.

SEXUAL ABUSE AND ACCESS TO JUS...TICE FOR RURAL WOMEN IN WEST AFRICA
more
|
Sexual abuse and access to jus...tice for rural women in West Africa
more
|
This research takes place with...in the context of several major overlapping factors in West Africa: a democratization process that, in principle, includes equal access to public services - including justice - for all citizens; the existence of formal legal systems, national and international, conducive to the protection of women from sexual abuse; and the informal legal system. Access to justice in this region still remains a major challenge, especially for rural women, who are typically far away from legal infrastructure, which illustrates a significant gap between the de jure and de facto situations. Furthermore, existing research shows that the actions taken by women's rights organizations to prevent these crimes do not adequately help those who are the most marginalized - namely, rural women - who make up nearly 40% of the total population and more than 50% of the rural population in the region. Yet, accumulated knowledge shows that effective access to justice can be an effective way to prevent and reduce sexual abuse of women. This project aims to generate probative data on how, within a context of coexisting formal and informal justice systems, to promote justice for rural women who are victims of sexual abuse in Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania and Senegal, while at the same time making public institutions more accountable. More specifically, this project will involve the African Network for Integrated Development (ANID) and its partners taking a participatory research-action approach, and combining qualitative and quantitative methods to produce a knowledge base regarding sexual abuse and the constraints on access to justice in rural areas. The data gathered will be used to develop alternative and realistic models for access to justice, specifically through empowering women to help prevent and challenge the impunity of sexual abuse against rural women in these countries.

|

This project aims to build acc...ountability for international crimes and grave violations of human rights committed in the context of the armed conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Burundi. The project works to strengthen the justice systems of these countries by engaging with actors both inside (i.e.: judges, prosecutors and police) and outside (i.e.: lawyers, NGOs and human rights defenders) their legal systems. The goal is to increase their capacity to professionally investigate, document and prosecute conflict-related crimes and serious human rights violations, including sexual and gender-based violence crimes, ultimately contributing to increased accountability, as well as more effective justice systems.

Security for women and the les...bian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people in the conflict-affected regions in Colombia
more
|
Colombia is currently in the p...rocess of concluding peace negotiations with the guerrilla group Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC). One of the principal expectations generated by the negotiation process is that violence will decline once the final agreement is signed. However, serious reservations and concerns are being raised about whether crimes and violent incidents against women and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people will actually decrease in the post-conflict era, particularly at the local level. The local partner for this project is Fundación Ideas para la Paz (Foundation for Ideas for Peace), a local non-governmental organization formed to generate knowledge, propose initiatives, develop practices and policy, and support processes contributing to the construction of stable and durable peace in Colombia. The project will help diagnose the security situation and construct alternative solutions to improve the local security conditions of women and LGBTI people in three regions affected by the violence. The project will examine public and security policies associated with gender-based violence (GBV) as well as mechanisms for access to justice in related cases. It will work with key stakeholders to improve the local security conditions of women and LGBTI people, with a focus on GBV reduction. It will build and strengthen community, public, and private sector capacities to improve the security of women and LGBTI people affected by GBV, inform and sensitize stakeholders about local security conditions associated with GBV, with an emphasis on sexual violence, and disseminate recommendations for better policy and practice at local, national, and regional levels.

FROM COSTING TO ACTION: GENERA...TING EVIDENCE ON THE ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE FOR BUSINESSES IN MEXICO AND COLOMBIA
more
|
From costing to action: Genera...ting evidence on the economic impacts of gender-based violence for businesses in Mexico and Colombia
more
|
Gender-based violence (GBV) re...mains a pervasive global problem, with 70% of women worldwide reporting at least one form of physical or psychological violence from a partner (UN Women). A 2018 report by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime found that the likelihood of women being killed by relatives or intimate partners has increased by more than 10% since 2012. A Small Arms Survey in 2016 revealed that among the 25 countries with the highest rates of femicide in the world, 14 are in Latin America and the Caribbean. Calculating the economic impacts of GBV can be a valuable tool to encourage investment in prevention, particularly by untapped stakeholders such as the private sector. Most costing studies focus on the economic impacts of violence for individuals, societies, and the state, and less so for businesses. There is a need to capture indirect and intangible costs of various forms of violence, and to advocate for better data availability to ensure quality research and cross-country studies. This project aims to expand the evidence on the economic costs of GBV as a tool to leverage responses to prevent violence by the public and private sector. It will examine the prevalence and experiences of domestic violence for survivors, perpetrators, and witnesses, and will calculate how its spillover effects in the workplace hinder labour productivity, generating costs borne by enterprises. The goal of the project is to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of violence prevention and to promote investments in the workplace. The project, led by the University of San Martin de Porres (USMP) in Peru, will strengthen the technical capacities of teams to conduct research in Mexico and Colombia. These two countries have very competitive and business-sustainable economies that also report high incidences of GBV (44% and 66% respectively). New evidence in these two countries will add to the regional body of research built by USMP with support from the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Bolivia, Peru, and Paraguay. In this way, IDRC is leveraging resources from other partners to expand this timely and relevant body of knowledge.

The Gender Coordination Group,... established in 2008 in Colombia, is an important element of Colombia's donor coordination architecture. It gathers 43 organizations, including bilateral and multilateral donors, United Nations agencies and international non-governmental organizations, to coordinate advocacy and development cooperation efforts focused on gender equality and women's rights. The Group facilitates policy dialogue with key Government of Colombia decision-makers and advances policy reforms that improve gender equality in Colombia. The project supports research and knowledge- sharing activities that strengthen the participation of women in peacebuilding efforts, support the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence and help integrate gender considerations into national and local development plans and priorities.

This project aims to empower w...omen human rights defenders and organizations to effectively participate in post-conflict development and peace and security processes in Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Philippines, South Sudan, and the West Bank. The project strengthens the ability of beneficiaries to use national laws and international human rights frameworks to defend and protect women's rights in post-conflict settings. Project activities include: (1) providing psychosocial and legal support to help women survivors recover from and seek justice for the physical and psychological violence they have experienced; (2) providing training to women human rights defenders and organizations and other key stakeholders on national and international human rights frameworks and gender-based analysis, as well as organizational strengthening; (3) developing or improving National Action Plans and the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) on women, peace and security; and (4) establishing South-South exchanges to facilitate networking, mutual learning and skills building. This project is expected to directly reach more than 35,000 beneficiaries (78% women and 22% men) in the five countries/territories, including approximately 9,500 women survivors of gender-based violence. In addition, it is expected to reach 200,000 (150,000 women and 50,000 men) indirect beneficiaries nationally, including extended families, community members, networks, government employees and other stakeholders, as well as another two million indirect beneficiaries internationally through networks, coalitions, and social media. The project aims to promote th...e protection, safety, empowerment and dignity of vulnerable Indigenous communities, especially women, in 9 municipalities of the Departments of Nariño and Antioquia in Colombia. These municipalities have been the most affected by the armed conflict, and present high rates of poverty, presence of illicit economies and institutional weakness. The project supports the priorities outlined in the sections of the Colombian Peace Agreement that grant official status to Indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities. Project activities include: (1) providing training and working group sessions to improve Indigenous community protection mechanisms, which include the active participation of Indigenous women; (2) providing training and working group sessions to increase knowledge on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) within communities, and work to prevent and respond to SGBV; (3) organizing activities to strengthen the knowledge of state institutions, particularly the Ombudsman Office, on Indigenous rights, with a focus on the rights of Indigenous women, including survivors of the conflict, and disabled people; (4) supporting local and national advocacy for gender-responsive protection mechanisms, in line with the Colombian government's commitments in the Ethnic Chapter; and (5) strengthening the capacity of Indigenous women to participate in decision-making spaces.

This project seeks to improve ...learning outcomes for girls and adolescent girls in 13 fragile and conflict-affected contexts, and in humanitarian settings. Violence in fragile or conflict-affected contexts and in humanitarian settings prevents girls and adolescent girls from accessing safe quality education. The project aims to use data to better understand the barriers to girls' and adolescent girls' education in Côte d'Ivoire, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The project also aims to ensure that national education policies and plans in these countries are informed by the most up-to-date evidence on the barriers to education for girls and adolescent girls. The project aims to examine the country data from Violence against Children Surveys (VACS). These are national surveys that have been conducted in 20 countries with information for over 10% of the world's population under the age of 24 on the complex issue of violence, with the goal of informing our policies and programs. This project also provides additional targeted support to the government of Côte d'Ivoire and governments in the Northern Triangle (El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras) to enhance their ability to develop laws, policies and programs to address these barriers. Project activities include: (1) analyzing existing Violence against Children Surveys (VACS) data with a focus on barriers to girls' and adolescent girls' education in 12 fragile or conflict-affected countries (excluding Guatemala which will benefit from knowledge exchange); (2) advocating for increased understanding and use of new data from secondary analyses to maximize data that is already available, by key education actors in government and civil society; (3) developing a new methodology for conducting a VACS in a humanitarian setting to gain an understanding of violence against children in refugee camps/settlements, and also with special attention to girls' and adolescent girls' education; and (4) providing technical assistance to develop multi-sectoral and gender-transformative National Action Plans in Côte d'Ivoire, Honduras and El Salvador, to prevent and respond to barriers to education for girls and adolescent girls, especially violence. The project's direct beneficiaries include Ministries of Education, of Health, of Women and Children, and of Social Protection among others, in the 13 targeted countries, as well as civil society, non-governmental organizations and advocacy groups working in the field of girls' education.

The project aims to support th...e reintegration of child survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) into a safer school system in the conflict-affected and marginalized communities of North and South Kivu in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The project works to improve girls' access to education and strengthening education systems to be gender-responsive. The project also works to provide immediate psychosocial, emotional and material support to reintegrate child survivors of SGBV into school. The project seeks to tackle harmful gender norms and gender inequality at the household, school and community level by promoting positive gender norms. Project activities include: (1) providing social and emotional support, as well as materials and financial support to 900 SGBV survivors and other vulnerable girls and boys to pursue formal and non-formal education; (2) providing training to 780 education leaders or members of school governance structures (school management committees, parent and student associations) on positive gender norms, and the provision of an inclusive, safe, gender-responsive school environment; (3) improving the capacity of 1,445 teachers (of which 466 are women) to deliver protective, inclusive, gender-responsive instructions to girls, including survivors of SGBV. The project aims to target some 30, 675 direct beneficiaries, including 14, 025 girls and 14, 025 boys between the ages of 6 and 16, and 720 girls and 180 boys survivors of SGBV. The project also aims to reach approximately 87, 600 indirect beneficiaries to receive key messages to raise awareness and strengthen attitudes towards girls' education.

The project aims to improve ac...cess to education for girls and other vulnerable children in the provinces of North Kivu and Kasai in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It addresses the social, financial and gender-specific barriers that prevent them from attending school. It also contributes to improving the capacity of the education system by strengthening the quality and gender sensitivity of formal and informal education services. In addition, the project aims to increase the capacity of local, provincial and national authorities to provide educational services that meet the needs of girls. Project activities include: (1) raising community awareness of the importance of education for girls; (2) implementing a music therapy program for girls, young women and women caregivers who have experienced trauma, specifically, sexual and gender-based violence; (3) implementing alternative, traditional and accelerated learning programs for out-of-school girls and other vulnerable children; and (4) updating educational programs and policy at the local and provincial levels by including and/or reinforcing gender and conflict issues. The project expects to reach 461, 570 people, including 128, 500 girls, 136, 200 women, 70, 000 persons with disabilities and 8, 000 survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. School-based activities aim to reach 6,020 girls and 3,904 boys.
