To reduce rates and inequaliti...es in maternal, under-5 and new-born deaths, as well as reduce stunting in under-5s, by strengthening the quality and coverage of a package of essential health services through lower level district administration. The programme will increase the provision and uptake of quality, highly cost effective life-saving primary healthcare services provided free at the point of use, and so better protect the most vulnerable against the financial consequences of ill health. By 2025, the programme will contribute to reducing maternal mortality from 439 to 350 per 100,000 births, neonatal mortality from 27 to 22 per 1,000 live births, child mortality from 64 to 48 per 1,000 live births, stunting in children under five years of age reduced from 37% to 31%, and impact of communicable disease outbreaks and epidemics.

Sector distribution according ...to DFID Information: Health 50% (DFID Tracker) ; - They expect these projects to achieve the following results:
1. Improved uptake of high quality sexual and reproductive health services directly benefiting approximately 160,000 women over a five year period by:
• giving birth attended by skilled health personnel (20,000)
• of whom 10,000 will also receive increased antenatal care of at least 4 visits (10,000)
• taking up contraceptive services (150,000 includes some overlap with the beneficiaries above).
2. Improved access, retention and attainment in quality education for girls and young women:
• at least 90,000 girls (and 50,000 boys) achieving significantly better results in literacy and numeracy, including 18,000 girls transitioning from primary to secondary school;
• 10,000 out of school girls enrolled and regularly attending school.
3. Improvements in the livelihoods and influence of 50,000 women farmers resulting in more profitable and productive enterprises leading to an average 20% uplift in incomes, and increased market access leading to an average 20% rise in the value of sales. Projects will also aim to achieve increases in women’s leadership in producer organisations and increased ownership of assets including land.
4. Increased numbers of women and girls challenging inequality as change-makers and influencing and leading initiatives for social change, including:
• improved leadership capabilities among 300 women and girl leaders;
• improved capacity and effectiveness of up to 40 women’s organisations and coalitions;
• increase in ratification and translation into domestic legislation of key women’s rights protocols and instruments;
• changes in local byelaws and customary practices that promote and protect women’s rights benefiting 100,000 women and girls.
5. A significant reduction in the prevalence and impact of violence and harmful traditional practices against women and girls including female genital cutting, resulting in:
• at least 40,000 fewer women and girls affected by violence;
• 75,000 fewer girls forced to undergo harmful traditional practices;
approximately 5,000 statutory service providers trained in protection of women’s rights

AKSE (Aksyon Kolektif pou Seki...rite kont Eksplwatasyon - Health Policy Project) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The Health Policy Project (HPP...) works to strengthen developing country national and subnational policy, advocacy, governance, and finance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming. HPP helps countries bring about real change in the health of people and communities. We work with in-country partners to sustain commitment to and ownership of policy responses that support improvements in family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, and maternal health.
more
|
Globally, HPP contributes to i...mproved health outcomes through strengthening the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of health systems in a multi-sectoral context. HPP focuses on the policy aspects of health and other social sectors, often in a multi-sectoral context. We also assist countries to improve health outcomes by addressing barriers due to gender inequalities, socioeconomic status, stigma and discrimination, operational issues, and other factors that prevent people from seeking the health and related social services they need. Throughout our work, we are committed to encouraging in-country capacity for policy, advocacy, governance, and finance. For additional information on HPP see www.healthpolicyproject.com. (https://jobpaw.com/public/detailsjob.php?idjob=5595)
In Haiti, HPP has been asked to implement the USAID-funded for the Aksyon Kolektif pou Sekirite kont Eksplwatasyon (AKSE) Program which supports a multi-sectoral approach to strengthen the Haitian environment for human rights in general and for vulnerable populations, in particular, children, women, and sexual minorities. AKSE was previously implemented by CARE International. HPP will build on the work of the previous project from March 2014 through at least September 2015, with potential for extension.

The Construction of Health and... Education Facilities (CHEF) project addresses the medical needs of more than two million Afghan citizens through the construction of two new hospitals, a 100-bed hospital in Gardez, and a 20 bed hospital in Paktika..Additionally over 1 million Afghan citizens will benefit from the construction of three provincial midwife training centers in Faizabad, Khost, and Bamiyan. These health facilities will support the Ministry of Public Health in its efforts to provide urgently needed health services, including in-patient and out-patient referral and treatment. The hospitals will also serve as training facilities for health professionals, as well as venues for medical conferences and seminars. The education component of the CHEF project, through construction of four Provincial Teacher Training Centers (PTTC), aims to address the following teacher training goals identified by the Ministry of Education: 1) providing the proper infrastructure needed to educate trainers of teachers and teachers themselves; 2) strengthening the educational requirements of the country; and 3) increasing the quality and number of teachers. Target PTTCs are located in Wardak, Faryab, Nangarhar, and Parwan provinces.
