Support for Local Governance a...nd Civil Society (LGCS)
more
|
The LGCS project will seek to ...support the foundation of a more unified Libyan state by prioritizing local-level activities that foster stability and accountable governance while reinforcing positive linkages among the national government, subnational government administration, and citizens. Activities are expected to be designed in support of these priorities coupled with initiatives that will support USAID/Libyas Journey to Self-Reliance and advances in Journey to Self-Reliance Commitment and Capacity indicators. At the end of the activity, targeted municipalities should be better able to plan for and deliver needed services, civil society will be better able to engage with their local and national governments, national level policy decisions should better reflect citizen input, and decentralization reforms should have advanced to benefit Libyan citizens.

TMEC: Meeting Targets and Main...taining Epidemic Control (EpiC)
more
|
Meeting Targets and Maintainin...g Epidemic Control (TMEC) will help meet or exceed PEPFAR targets for reaching adults, key, and priority populations by finding those who have not yet been identified as positive, linking those who are positive to treatment, and by keeping those on treatment virally suppressed. This mechanism will work with a range of stakeholders to ensure that host government health systems and host countries in general are able to maintain program gains with appropriately decreasing dependence on PEPFAR/USAID. EpiC can support USAID's response to address COVID-19, by preventing, preparing for, responding to, and bolstering health systems to address COVID-19 and re-emergence. Within the scope, EpiC can support Pillar 2 activities, including emergency health response, strengthening global health security in affected countries, and health systems support.

Medicines, Technologies, and P...harmaceutical Services (MTaPS)
more
|
The goal of MTaPS is to enable... low- and middle-income countries to strengthen their pharmaceutical systems to ensure sustainable access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable essential medical products and medicines-related pharmaceutical services. The purpose of MTaPS is to provide pharmaceutical system strengthening assistance for sustained improvements in health system performance, and to advance USAID s goals of Preventing Child and Maternal Deaths, Controlling the HIV/AIDS Epidemic, and Combatting Infectious Disease Threats, as well as expanding essential health coverage. MTaPS works to strengthen essential areas of the pharmaceutical sector, including regulatory capacity, supply chain management, pharmaceutical financing and services, and pharmaceutical management information systems. Within this context, MTaPS addresses USG priority health elements including malaria, HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, neglected tropical diseases, and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). MTaPS focuses on enhancing pharmaceutical services through patient-centered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The MTaPS result areas address the five health systems components (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) as they pertain to pharmaceutical management, informing the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross-cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.

New Partnerships Initiative: E...XPAND (New Partners for Better Health)
more
|
New Partnerships Initiative (N...PI) EXPAND (New Partners for Better Health) is a five-year (2019-2024), $43.9 million global project with the goal of working with missions and organizations to increase the availability and utilization of quality health services across all USAID priority health areas. NPI EXPAND will catalyze opportunities to scale up innovative interventions by strengthening the capacity of New and Underutilized Partners (NUP) with varying levels of capabilities and exposure to USAID. In line with the Journey to Self-Reliance, NPI EXPAND will support countries to identify and strengthen local organizations to participate fully in their local health system. New Partnerships Initiative will increase USAID s development impact by elevating local leadership, fostering creativity and innovation, and mobilizing resources across the Agency s programs. 1. Strengthen the organizational sustainability of new and underutilized local entities or locally established partners: Targeted countries will advance their self-reliance through a strengthened cadre of NUPs that are ready to meet the needs of the underserved. The activity will support NUPs to increase their managerial, financial, and administrative capacities to enhance their ability to not only receive direct support from USAID but also be more engaged partners within local health systems. 2. Expand utilization of high-quality, high-impact health services, information and supplies expanded: Participating NUPs will contribute to enhancing the supply and utilization of high-quality, integrated health services, with a focus on reaching underserved populations. NPI EXPAND supports this evolution by fostering the technical skills of providers, the expansion of services offered, quality assurance systems, and introducing cost-effective demand creation techniques that can be integrated in the service delivery setting. 3. Increase sustainability of promising and innovative health approaches scaled-up through new an

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM (CEP)
|
Civic Engagement Program (CEP)
|
CEP aims to build stronger fee...dback systems between the government and its citizens by removing barriers preventing effective civic engagement for improved public accountability and by strengthening citizens' role in the community development process. These barriers include mutual distrust, corruption, and poor inclusion of women/youth/people with disabilities, as well as little understanding of their rights and responsibilities, but are also rooted in civil society organizations' (CSO) organizational capacity and their lack of independence. CEP is implemented through 18 CSOs and 4 People with Disabilities' Organizations to provide local oversight of government's actions, advocate for citizens involvement in governance issues, and improve citizens' participation, especially from marginalized groups.

|

|

Communication for Improved Hea...lth Outcomes (CIHO)
more
|
Communication for Improved Hea...lth Outcomes Activity (CIHO) will complement the existing efforts by the Government of the Republic of Mozambique (GRM) and development partners to expand access and improve the quality of health services in Sofala. Social and behavior change communications (SBCC) interventions are essential for garnering community support and for addressing human behaviors that are requisite for maximizing the health impact of these health system advances. CIHO will improve Mozambiques capacity to design, implement, and coordinate high-quality SBCC, allowing health promotion efforts to more effectively reduce morbidity and mortality caused by preventable diseases.

|

Efficiencies for Clinical HIV ...Outcomes (ECHO) Activity in Mozambique
more
|
The goal of the Efficiencies f...or Clinical HIV Outcomes (ECHO) activity is to support the Government of Mozambiques (GRM) achievement of HIV/AIDS epidemic control and establishing a sustainable, government-led HIV response by 2023 in provinces where USAID is the primary clinical support partner. ECHO will focus on 5 objectives. In close partnership with the GRM, MISAU and partner DPS authorities and using PEPFARs technical considerations ECHO will: 1) Strengthen the essential public health services necessary for HIV epidemic control at the national, provincial and district level to ensure long-term sustainability of the HIV response. 2) Reach 95% HIV treatment coverage in designated geographic regions in Mozambique by the end of the activity. 3) Reach at least 95% viral suppression among people receiving antiretroviral therapy and maintain this level of suppression during the life of the activity in designated geographic regions in Mozambique, 4) Ensure that Mozambique is utilizing the latest evidence for rapid scale up and maintenance of effective HIV interventions, ECHO will routinely review global experience and annually adjust, adopt, and implement priority interventions, and 5) Generate evidence and provide the GRM with data, measured findings, and recommendations necessary to make key service delivery decisions supporting the achievement of Mozambiques annual targets for epidemic control.

more
|
RISE, a 5-year global project ...funded by the U.S. Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), works with countries to achieve a shared vision of attaining and maintaining epidemic control, with stronger local partners capable of managing and achieving results through sustainable, self-reliant, and resilient health systems by 2024. RISEs contributions to this work will lead to fewer new HIV infections, decreased HIV-related morbidity and mortality, and increased quality of life for people living with HIV. With USAID PEPFAR investments, RISE supports countries to achieve and maintain epidemic control by providing strategic technical assistance and direct service delivery to improve HIV prevention, case finding, treatment programming, and viral load suppression.
