Sustaining Technical and Analy...tic Resources (STAR)
more
|
STAR improves the effectivenes...s of global health programs worldwide by developing and strengthening the capacity of global health professionals by placing fellows and interns in external institutions, primarily in USAID-supported countries, and in USAID in partnership with academic and other institutions. STAR strengthens the technical and analytic professional cadre of human resources for global health by partnering with organizations of higher learning, development research, and/or health professional associations. Leveraging the expertise, resources, and partnerships of academic institutions and many other types of organizations, STAR contributes to strengthening institutions in developing countries that provide technical leadership and improve systems that promote technical collaboration across the global health community. STAR strengthens the pool of health professionals globally through field experience with developing country organizations, provides opportunities to diverse health professionals who mirror the populations USAID serves globally to build their skills and gain exposure to international health programs, and improves collaborative systems and long-term, sustainable partnerships for open exchange and utilization of information, knowledge, and educational resources to promote technical excellence and learning.

RISE, a 5-year global project ...funded by the U.S. Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), works with countries to achieve a shared vision of attaining and maintaining epidemic control, with stronger local partners capable of managing and achieving results through sustainable, self-reliant, and resilient health systems by 2024. RISEs contributions to this work will lead to fewer new HIV infections, decreased HIV-related morbidity and mortality, and increased quality of life for people living with HIV. With USAID PEPFAR investments, RISE supports countries to achieve and maintain epidemic control by providing strategic technical assistance and direct service delivery to improve HIV prevention, case finding, treatment programming, and viral load suppression.

Creating Economic Opportunitie...s (CEO) Activity
more
|
The purpose of this Contract i...s to reduce poverty and improve living conditions, closing gaps between Guatemala and migrant countries, to create a Guatemala in which economic opportunity exists and irregular migration is not necessary in order to find such opportunities. The Creating Economic Opportunities (CEO) Activity will reduce poverty and improve living conditions, closing gaps between Guatemala and migrant destination countries, in order to decrease irregular migration. To achieve this objective, USAID assistance will grow businesses and increase employment and income generating opportunities for Guatemalans through a multi-pronged approach utilizing four levers of economic development - expanding access to markets, improving workforce capacity, increasing access to financial services, and upgrading productive infrastructure. CEO will work to benefit vulnerable Guatemalans, particularly youth and indigenous persons, in select geographic areas (Western Highlands and the Department of Guatemala) with high levels of outward migration. In order to increase economic activity, CEO will partner with and expand existing businesses and support entrepreneurs to create new businesses that will generate jobs, diversify production and service offerings and improve product and service quality, develop new financial products, provide financial education, channel remittances for development purposes, and craft and implement policies that create incentives for employers and employees to transition from the informal to the formal private sector. The activities implemented under this Activity support the Joint Strategic Plan Goal #2, Renewing America's Competitive Advantage for Sustained Economic Growth and Job Creation. The activities directly target the objective area 2.1 and 2.3 by promoting commercial opportunities, and market-oriented economic reforms. Increasing economic opportunities and reducing these risks helps reduce the reasons for irregular migration.

Sant ('Health' in Haitian Krey...ol) has the overall goal of assisting, strengthening and expanding essential health services, ultimately serving up to 4.2 million Haitian people. The project will expand and support the work of more than 160 hospitals and clinics nationally to provide quality care. As part of a patient-centered approach, Sant will provide integrated maternal and child care to Haitian families, with a particular focus on immunization, reproductive health, nutrition services and HIV prevention, care and treatment. Working in partnership with the Haitian Government, USAID, non-government organizations and faith-based organizations, the Package of Essential Services national strategy will be realized.

|

TMEC: Meeting Targets and Main...taining Epidemic Control (EpiC)
more
|
Meeting Targets and Maintainin...g Epidemic Control (TMEC) will help meet or exceed PEPFAR targets for reaching adults, key, and priority populations by finding those who have not yet been identified as positive, linking those who are positive to treatment, and by keeping those on treatment virally suppressed. This mechanism will work with a range of stakeholders to ensure that host government health systems and host countries in general are able to maintain program gains with appropriately decreasing dependence on PEPFAR/USAID. EpiC can support USAID's response to address COVID-19, by preventing, preparing for, responding to, and bolstering health systems to address COVID-19 and re-emergence. Within the scope, EpiC can support Pillar 2 activities, including emergency health response, strengthening global health security in affected countries, and health systems support.
