AFYA COUNTY AND NATIONAL SUPPO...RT PROGRAM
more
|
Afya County and National Suppo...rt Program
more
|
Afya County and National Suppo...rt Program will contribute to the attainment of Kenyas health goals and ultimately the SDGs by contributing to more equitable access to and use of quality health services by the most vulnerable, while enhancing the efficiency of county health systems pertinent to FP/RMNCAH nutrition and WASH. Through a health systems strengthening approach, which includes demand creation interventions aimed at improving health seeking behavior, Afya County and National Support Program will support improved health of women and children, and WASH activities will contribute to Kenyas goals of ending preventable deaths among children and mothers by 2030, meeting 75 percent of the demand for family planning services by 2020, and achieving good nutrition for optimum health of all Kenyans. Science Technology and Innovation Partnership approaches hold significant potential to increase the cost-effectiveness, impact, and sustainability of reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health programs. This activity will utilize an implementation science approach to identify innovative solutions which may include ICT to ensure better service delivery and communication especially for the most vulnerable.

Medicines, Technologies, and P...harmaceutical Services (MTaPS)
more
|
The goal of MTaPS is to enable... low- and middle-income countries to strengthen their pharmaceutical systems to ensure sustainable access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable essential medical products and medicines-related pharmaceutical services. The purpose of MTaPS is to provide pharmaceutical system strengthening assistance for sustained improvements in health system performance, and to advance USAID s goals of Preventing Child and Maternal Deaths, Controlling the HIV/AIDS Epidemic, and Combatting Infectious Disease Threats, as well as expanding essential health coverage. MTaPS works to strengthen essential areas of the pharmaceutical sector, including regulatory capacity, supply chain management, pharmaceutical financing and services, and pharmaceutical management information systems. Within this context, MTaPS addresses USG priority health elements including malaria, HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, neglected tropical diseases, and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). MTaPS focuses on enhancing pharmaceutical services through patient-centered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The MTaPS result areas address the five health systems components (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) as they pertain to pharmaceutical management, informing the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross-cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.

Sustaining Technical and Analy...tic Resources (STAR)
more
|
STAR improves the effectivenes...s of global health programs worldwide by developing and strengthening the capacity of global health professionals by placing fellows and interns in external institutions, primarily in USAID-supported countries, and in USAID in partnership with academic and other institutions. STAR strengthens the technical and analytic professional cadre of human resources for global health by partnering with organizations of higher learning, development research, and/or health professional associations. Leveraging the expertise, resources, and partnerships of academic institutions and many other types of organizations, STAR contributes to strengthening institutions in developing countries that provide technical leadership and improve systems that promote technical collaboration across the global health community. STAR strengthens the pool of health professionals globally through field experience with developing country organizations, provides opportunities to diverse health professionals who mirror the populations USAID serves globally to build their skills and gain exposure to international health programs, and improves collaborative systems and long-term, sustainable partnerships for open exchange and utilization of information, knowledge, and educational resources to promote technical excellence and learning.

TMEC: Meeting Targets and Main...taining Epidemic Control (EpiC)
more
|
Meeting Targets and Maintainin...g Epidemic Control (TMEC) will help meet or exceed PEPFAR targets for reaching adults, key, and priority populations by finding those who have not yet been identified as positive, linking those who are positive to treatment, and by keeping those on treatment virally suppressed. This mechanism will work with a range of stakeholders to ensure that host government health systems and host countries in general are able to maintain program gains with appropriately decreasing dependence on PEPFAR/USAID. EpiC can support USAID's response to address COVID-19, by preventing, preparing for, responding to, and bolstering health systems to address COVID-19 and re-emergence. Within the scope, EpiC can support Pillar 2 activities, including emergency health response, strengthening global health security in affected countries, and health systems support.

Laos CTIP
|
The USAID Laos CTIP is an Asso...ciate Award implemented by the recipient of USAID Asia CTIP LWA. The purpose is to reduce vulnerability to human trafficking among targeted populations in Laos by linking at risk populations and survivors of human trafficking to employment opportunities. The activity will showcase a 'model of prevention and protection' for the Government of Laos (GoL) to support its effort to counter human trafficking through the implementation of related national laws and policies, as well as to provide quality support services to trafficked persons. The USAID Laos CTIP approach will be implemented in close consultation with the GoL and a range of CTIP stakeholders. Annual work plans will be developed based on an assessment of the needs of at risk populations, survivors, and other relevant stakeholders. Thwarting criminal organizations that profit from human trafficking supports one of the key national priorities: defending U.S. national security.

In Lao PDR, funds will be used... to increase access to economic opportunity for micro-enterprises, particularly those in the agricultural sector. Activities will assist microfinance institutions and/or other financial intermediaries to improve access to financial services that are tailored to the needs of microenterprises, reduce regulatory, policy, and administrative barriers that limit growth opportunities for microenterprises, build capacity for microenterprises to improve quality, productivity, employment, and market potential, and work to link microenterprises into new and growing markets for their products. By building linkages between microenterprises and larger firms, microenterprises will be able to access necessary value chain infrastructure such as technology and machinery.

RISE, a 5-year global project ...funded by the U.S. Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), works with countries to achieve a shared vision of attaining and maintaining epidemic control, with stronger local partners capable of managing and achieving results through sustainable, self-reliant, and resilient health systems by 2024. RISEs contributions to this work will lead to fewer new HIV infections, decreased HIV-related morbidity and mortality, and increased quality of life for people living with HIV. more
|
New Partnerships Initiative (N...PI) EXPAND (New Partners for Better Health) is a five-year (2019-2024), $43.9 million global project with the goal of working with missions and organizations to increase the availability and utilization of quality health services across all USAID priority health areas. NPI EXPAND will catalyze opportunities to scale up innovative interventions by strengthening the capacity of New and Underutilized Partners (NUP) with varying levels of capabilities and exposure to USAID. In line with the Journey to Self-Reliance, NPI EXPAND will support countries to identify and strengthen local organizations to participate fully in their local health system. New Partnerships Initiative will increase USAID s development impact by elevating local leadership, fostering creativity and innovation, and mobilizing resources across the Agency s programs. 1. Strengthen the organizational sustainability of new and underutilized local entities or locally established partners: Targeted countries will advance their self-reliance through a strengthened cadre of NUPs that are ready to meet the needs of the underserved. The activity will support NUPs to increase their managerial, financial, and administrative capacities to enhance their ability to not only receive direct support from USAID but also be more engaged partners within local health systems. 2. Expand utilization of high-quality, high-impact health services, information and supplies expanded: Participating NUPs will contribute to enhancing the supply and utilization of high-quality, integrated health services, with a focus on reaching underserved populations. NPI EXPAND supports this evolution by fostering the technical skills of providers, the expansion of services offered, quality assurance systems, and introducing cost-effective demand creation techniques that can be integrated in the service delivery setting. 3.
