Strengthening Ethiopia's Urban... Health Program (SEUHP)
more
|
As follow-on technical assista...nce provider to the Urban Health Extension Program (UHEP), SEUHP will address demand-side barriers to improving health outcomes in urban and peri-urban centers. The UHEP, run by the Government, engages 5,000+ nurses to provide household-centered health promotion, disease prevention, and limited curative services to vulnerable groups and households. SEUHP will expand to include biomedical interventions at a household level. The service package comprises: referral for long and short-term family planning services, community-based immunization, HIV screening of pregnant women, ANC referrals and defaulter tracing, postpartum care, TB screening, and referrals. The program was launched in January 2014 with the presence of Ministry of Health and Regional officials. These activities complement those supported by PEPFAR, which targets high-risk urban population.

Private Health Sector Project ...(PHSP)
more
|
PHSP will provide technical as...sistance to 203 private for-profit health facilities to provide high-impact primary health services. Tuberculosis (TB) and malaria funds will expand and enhance PPM-DOTS and malaria treatment; and MCH/FP/RH funds will be used to ensure better access and quality of maternal and child health and FP/RH services in the urban setting. USAID will complete a rapid assessment to investigate the potential for various levels of private facilities to deliver MCH services; increase access to integrated FP services; initiate youth friendly FP services and expand diagnosis and treatment for TB. The activity will also ensure the flow of TB, malaria and FP commodities to private facilities and ensure private facilities are included as part of the integrated supportive supervision led by the Regional Health Bureaus to improve health services.

INNOVATIONS IN TB CONTROL
|
Innovations in TB Control
|
India has been quick to adopt ...and use improved TB technologies and approaches beginning with the adoption and rollout of DOTS in the 1990s. More recently, with USAID support through WHO, the GOI has adopted and is scaling up the use of the rapid TB test, GeneXpert, including in the diagnosis of drug-resistant TB in children. The Grand Challenges in TB Control Project has leveraged $5 million to match USAID's investment to crowd source innovations to: (1) promote treatment adherence through information and communication technology, (2) improve diagnostics, and (3) test models for engaging the private sector providers of products and services.

TB Call to Action for a TB-fre...e India - REACH

|
This project engages India's v...ast private sector financial, intellectual and material resources in concerted effort for a TB-free India. Activities will focus on identifying key actors in the public and private sectors, develop the agenda, background and action materials, and ensure media support for social and behavioral change. This will be distinct from CHALLENGE TB by focusing on state level implementation and dissemination of the Call to Action into concrete actions at state and district level. This project will create a movement to accelerate a TB-free India, generate additional in-country and donor resources for TB control, improve public understanding of TB, reduce stigma and discrimination, enable access for women and children, and facilitate the scale up of effective innovative TB control approaches and technologies.

TB Call to Action for a TB-fre...e India - REACH
more
|

Building on decades of USAIDs ...work procuring health commodities and strengthening supply chains, the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management project is working to transform global and national supply chains for health commodities. The project integrates two former USAID programs into one efficient supply chain that serves many of the worlds most vulnerable and difficult-to-reach communities. The project is designed to meet todays critical global health challenges eliminating HIV and AIDS, providing universal malaria coverage, and helping women meet their family planning and reproductive health needs. By bringing together advanced technical solutions, a team of highly qualified experts, and proven commercial processes and principles, USAID Global Health Supply Chain works to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in global and national supply chains. In addition to optimizing supply chains, the project is strengthening national supply chain systems and fostering collaboration among supply chain stakeholders worldwide.
