F.a: Enhancing sustainable liv...elihoods and participation in the communities of Palabek Ogili, Uganda
more
|
Northern Uganda has suffered f...rom the consequences of a civil war during two decades. The poverty rates in the area are double compared to the rest of the country and the food insecurity is severe. Now the situation has calmed down in the area and the people have been able to return back to their homelands. The Sub County of Palabek Ogili is suffering from same kind of problems as the other Sub Counties of the Lamwon district: water scarcity, weakness of production methods, low education level, the level of basic services, weak social status of women and gender based violence. The aim of the project is to increase the capacity of the communities in achieving sustainable livelihood by strengthening the social integrity of the communities, improving the knowledge and know-how of the beneficiaries in agricultural production as well as by increasing the income of the households with new crops and increased level of breeding of plants. Also the unequal social status of women and gender based violence is taken into account in the project. Beneficiaries, purpose and expected results of the project will be specified during the planning phase that precedes the project implementation phase. The project is implemented by ISF's local partner organization Children of the World Foundation (COW).

RFDP / LUNDAZI ACCESS TO JUSTI...CE AND HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION PROJECT
more
|
RFDP / Lundazi Access to Justi...ce and Human Rights Protection Project
more
|
The project aims to increase a...ccess to justice and improve realisation of human rights for vulnerable groups particularly women in Lundazi district in the Eastern Province of Zambia. Women currently face many challenges in terms of property and inheritance rights family law as well as gender-based violence. At the same time complicated legal processes and practical concerns such lack of awareness and financial constraints have meant that women are often deterred from accessing both informal and formal justice systems. Institutional weaknesses delays and lack of resources at the justice delivery institutions also further contribute to the inaccessibility of the services. The purpose of this project is to strengthen justice delivery systems and related services by establishing four paralegal desks with a total of 60 community-based paralegals operating from them. These will provide legal information advice and representation to the target group and facilitate referrals and handling of cases by traditional local and subordinate courts. The primary beneficiaries are 2400 women and their households. In addition the project trains traditional leaders and carries out broader community sensitisation activities in order to create an enabling environment for the target beneficiaries to access and receive justice.RFDP will collaborate with formal and informal justice institutions and relevant ministries. In addition it will work closely together with the Danish Institute of Human Rights and local CSOs who are already carrying out similar programmes for learning and experience sharing.

Although the role of women in ...Afghanistan is generally at the moment better than under the Taliban (1996-2001) it is still weak, according to the UNDP's gender equality index, it is the world's weakest. Although there has been made significant improvements in the political and labor force participation, there is strong impact of traditional and extreme religious parties on the status of women, especially in rural areas, where there is women's high illiteracy and violence against women. The project aims to promote women's literacy and legal awareness of women's rights and human rights, legal aid and legal advice and in cases of violence against women. In addition, the project aims at promoting men's awareness of women's rights. The target group is the rural communities of men and women Waras and Punjab in the county area of Bamyan. Shuhada Organization is an NGO founded by Sima Samar, the president of the Afghanistan's National Human Rights Commission, and the current Chairman of the former Minister for Women's Affairs. It was originally founded in Quetta, Pakistan, in 1989. The aim is to Afghan reconstruction and development and focus on particular to improve the position of women and children. www.shuhada.org

Support to Justice Rapid Respo...nse for the fight against impunity
more
|
Justice Rapid Response (JRR) i...s a cooperation body established in 2009 to improve the capacity of the international community to prosecute those responsible for the most serious international crimes and human rights violations. JRR contributes to the fight against impunity by providing states and international/regional organizations specialized assistance in duties relating to criminal investigations mainly in fragile states. To date JRR has assisted in a total of 50 investigation missions of which 47 has taken place in developing countries including in Africa Latin America and Central Asia. JRR cooperates closely with e.g. the International Criminal Court UN Women the UN Human Rights Council and the African Union. In the investigative missions and deployments JRR employs its roster consisting of more than 500 experts. Trained and certified by JRR the experts represent various fields of expertise and various geographical areas and nearly a half of all the experts come from the global south. JRR pays special attention to issues relating to sexual and gender-based violence and an important share of experts have been trained to investigate SGBV-related issues in conflict countries. In this project Finland s contribution (EUR 100000) is earmarked to supporting the provision of investigative and prosecutorial assistance to states and international entities specifically in Mali and Guatemala as well as to the development of JRR s roster with a special focus on SGBV experts. The project will both benefit investigations in two developing countries and enable future deployments in other fragile states. Through its assistance in investigations JRR helps to promote respect for human rights socio-economic development and capacity enhancement in developing countries. The project will last until end of 2015. Previously Finland has supported JRR from resources dedicated to the fight against impunity and from official development assistance resources.

The project trains people who ...work with women suffered from violence. The aim is to train doctors, lawyers, police officers, and human rights activists, so that they can better work to promote rights of the women, victims of violence. Violence against women in Nepal is a widespread problem, to which the authorities do not interfere with the necessary severity - at least on a practical level. For example, Amnesty International recently reported that the police authorities in cases of violence against women take more the side of the guilty than the victim's side. Domestic violence is seen as a private matter for families and abused women rarely even seek help for the known obstacles. Lawyers often do not like to assume responsibility for cases of violence against women-related, and when the evidence has not been adequately documented, the victims are virtually impossible to get justice. The main objective is to promote rights of the women, victims of violence. The aim is to guarantee access to the relevant services, and to increase the capacity service providers and the authorities, so that women's rights are better met. The beneficiaries are the authorities participating in the project. The project also offers support to 50 women suffered from violence and informs women about the services for victims of violences. The project is implemented in the Kavre county. CVICT was founded and registered as an NGO in 1990 and was originally used by volunteers for Victims of Torture in Kathmandu. Organization's founders were doctors, social workers and nurses. CVICTin focuses on increasing rehabilitation of torture victims and prevention of torture. Legal aid has long been a part of the CVICTin the support of victims of torture. www.cvict.org.np

The purpose of the project is ...to ensure that the right to protection, care, healing and empowerment of vulnerable young girls and children is realized in the city of Pretoria. Young women and girls should know their rights and be empowered to exercise these rights for their own well-being. Men and women in society should know how to respect each other. The purpose is therefore to intervene directly in situations of crisis, but also to create a culture of gender respect in Pretoria. The project activities include outreach programmes and drop-in centres, to identify and support young girls and women at risk, and to raise awareness amongst men and boys. The project also covers transitional residential facilities to protect and empower young victims of gender based violence. Advocacy and awareness raising initiatives focus on gender equality and human trafficking - and awareness raising initiatives include school visits. The project activities also include networking and collaboration to support advocacy. The project is implemented by TLF (Tswane Leadership Foundation). The work of TLF focuses on victims of gender-based violence, prostitution and human trafficking.

The UN Team of Experts on Rule... of Law/Sexual Violence in Conflict is a body created to assist governments in conflict and post-conflict situations to adddress impunity for sexual violence. The mandate of the Team of Experts is focused on supporting local institutions to address such crimes and the it works in close cooperation with other UN organizations. In this project the Team of Experts organizes and facilitates workshops in which the government of South Sudan is assisted to develop a national action plan against sexual violence. Violence including sexual violence has been widespread in South Sudan since its independence particularly since December 2013 and the state has limited capacity to give justice to victims of serious crimes. In 2014 South Sudan and the UN signed a joint communiqué in which the state commited to measures to end conflict-related sexual violence. In this project the objective is to assist the state of South Sudan e.g. to define concrete actions to end sexual violence and to enhance the capacity of local institutions and to identify gaps in service for survivors of sexual violence. The South Sudan National Police Service and the Sudan People s Liberation Army are involved in the process. The Team of Experts has since 2012 with financial support from Finland assisted South Sudan in identifying e.g. legislative reform priorities relating to sexual violence which forms the basis for this project. The project supports Finland s priorities relating to development cooperation and human rights as it contributes to the enhancement of the rule of law the fight against impunity and reduction of inequality. The project is implemented by the end of 2015 and is financed by Finland in the amount of EUR 150000.

The UN Team of Experts on Rule... of Law/Sexual Violence in Conflict is a body created to assist governments in conflict and post-conflict situations to address impunity for sexual violence. The mandate of the Team of Experts is focused on supporting local institutions to address such crimes and it works in close cooperation with other UN organizations. In this project the Team of Experts provides technical assistance to the Sudan People s Liberation Movement/Army in Opposition (SPLM/SPLA-IO) to implement an action plan to prevent sexual violence. In December 2014 the Chairperson of the SPLM/SPLA-IO signed a Communiqué to commit to a range of activities to address conflict-related sexual violence in the activities of the movement and the army and to request support from the UN to assist in taking forward the Communiqué. The Team of Experts has already started with Finland s financial support a project to assist South Sudan s government in the prevention of sexual violence in the building of national capacity and in the helping of victims of sexual violence. This project is directly linked to said project. In this project phase technical assistance is provided to the SPLM/SPLA-IO. To ensure a holistic response to the problems faced in South Sudan it is important to engage with the different parties of the conflict. Activities include organizing workshops and trainings developing command orders and disseminating knowledge within the SPLM/SPLA-IO as well as establishing a special investigation unit within the Military Justice Directorate. Finland s contribution focuses specifically on activities relating to the fight impunity for sexual and gender-based violence not on the training of military forces. The project supports Finland s priorities relating to development cooperation and human rights as it contributes to the enhancement of the rule of law the fight against impunity and reduction of inequality. South Sudan is a fragile state in which sexual violence is a serious threat to human rights and peace. The project is implemented by the end of 2016 with Finnish support amounting to EUR 150000.

Groups' guerrilla violence has... ceased, but women continue to suffer from violence and a threat of rape committed by the security forces. Local human rights organizations reported the rape to be a very common across the country. The police and the judiciary in general process the cases only if the victim is a very young child. Especially young girls, who are attending school far from home, or looking for work, experience sexual violence. Samburu Women Trust - Strength...ening women and girls dignity in pastoralists communities
more
|
Samburu Women Trust (SWT) is a...n umbrella indigenous women and girls? network that champions the rights of women and girls among the pastoralists? communities through strengthening their capacities to influence policies decision making processes and address harmful cultural practices that demean the dignity of women and girls in the society. The Trust is women driven whose key mandate is to raise not only the voice and status of indigenous women and girls but also to spearhead local initiatives aimed at securing human rightsknowledge and wellbeing of women and girls. The Samburu like any other indigenous peoples community in Kenya is strongly bound to its rich tradition and cultural practices. Women and girls are among the major victims of human rights violations and whose voices are stifled which is largely contributed by limiting cultural norms and practices that do not respect and recognize women in their societies. In most of pastoralists? societies patriarchy system of governance is the order of the day thus decision making processes and leadership are mostly male dominated. As a result of this women and girls space has remained limited in making informed decisions including leadership positions access and ability to own or control property thus feel discriminated against in the society.Gender based violence is rampant. Women are subjected to harmful cultural practice such as humiliating practice of wife beating and rape. Girl-child beading practice FGM and child marriages are the other harmful practices that threaten the lives and future of girls in Samburu community with devastating consequences that denies girls their rights to childhood disrupts their access to education and jeopardizes their health. Young girls who get beaded are forced into underage sexual intercourse with their usually much older partners and this has severe negative health consequences as the girl is often not psychologically physically and sexually mature. In Samburu community a number of girls and women become victims of these retrogressive cultural practices. Many young girls aged nine years and above undergo cruel abortion and women who take lead in rescuing the infants often get divorced rejected in their own clans families and considered outcast. Eventually these women and girls undergo a lot of trauma and are stigmatized for the rest of their lives.

Prevention and Response to Gen...der Based Violence - Centre for Rights Education and Awareness
more
|
The Centre for Rights Educatio...n and Awareness (CREAW) is a registered non-profit women?s rights organization founded in 1998 by several women lawyers who had common goals and a shared purpose to confront the low awareness of women?s real needs and rights in Kenya. It was registered in 1999 as the Centre for Rehabilitation and Education of Abused Women. It later changed the name to reflect its wider focus on women?s rights in society. CREAW programs focus mainly on violence against women and so far the programs have managed to successfully prosecute over 16000 cases of sexual and gender based violence. CREAW has a strong track record in consistently pursuing justice for women legal representation creation of legal awareness increased psychosocial support to clients and continuous couple therapy and mediation.According to a baseline survey report by CREAW in 2012 it established that over 78% members of Kibera community had a tolerating attitude towards GBV. This is a true reflection of many informal settlements in Kenya. These findings were largely associated with cultural stereotypes perceived poor GBV services and poverty in the area. While awareness on violence against women is high residents have developed a tolerating attitude towards it. A few community members readily seek services while majority others don?t because of perceptions on the quality of service. Poverty remains a critical reason with tendency of survivors of violence to abandon cases before they are concluded due to threats by perpetrators fear of police intimidation while collecting evidence and lack of legal and psychosocial support to build confidence self- esteem and resilience of survivors as well as ensure accountability of duty bearers in seeking justice. In a 2010 National Survey on Violence Against Children conducted by the Government of Kenya 32 percent of females ages 18-24 reported having experienced sexual violence and 66 percent of females reported having experienced some form of physical violence. Additionally 24 percent of girls who had sex before the age of 18 reported that it occurred against their will. In totality 76 percent of girls have experienced at least one type of violence (sexual physical or emotional) before reaching the age of 18. (IRC 2014). Most cases of GBV are committed by family members or intimate partners of the victims including boyfriends husbands fathers and mothers.

The organization uses film scr...eening to sensitize rural and marginalized communities about SGBV as a human rights violation. The objective is to use documentary films as a tool for civic education in order to reduce violence against women children adolescents sexual minorities and other vulnerable groups and promote access to Justice .Lesotho has a dual legal system consisting of common law and customary law .Gender based violence against women and girls have been indirectly supported by Lesotho's patriarchal system for a very long time. Fighting Female Genital Mutila...tion (FGM) among girls and young women in nine Districts of Tanzania Mainland
more

To inform key stakeholders abo...ut the extent and dynamics of FGM practices among women above 18 years old for awareness raising and call for collective remedies based on baseline study recommendations. Advocate for law reforms and enforcement against FGM practices by building the capacity of legal personnel and justice systems to deliver effective services in combating and handling cases of FGM. Strengthen the capacity of girls women and community in the selected Districts to report FGM related actions. To strengthen community based institutions to carry out policy and law advocacy on elimination of FGM practices. The presence of the law as it stands today criminalizes FGM for girls below the age of 18 and remains silent for women above the age of 18 who are forced to undergo the practice. A number of efforts have been undertaken by LHRC in collaboration with other CSOs to advocate for amendment of the law on FGM to criminalize FGM despite the age so as to be in conformity with the international principles on equality and fighting all forms of violence against women however there have been no research data to support the existence of cases of women above the age of 18 who are victims of FGM. Hence this project will significantly use the findings to advocate for reforms of the law on FGM. In addition there is poor enforcement of the existing laws in addressing FGM there have been lack of political will as on fighting against FGM hence creating a loophole for those who wish to maintain the practice. The developmental impact of this project will be women girls and children enjoy secured life that is free from FGM threats. Outcomes include; strengthened legal and social protection of women and girls in Tanzania Baseline study conducted to inform key stakeholders about the extent and dynamics of FGM practices among women above 18 years old. Beneficiaries of this project include indigenous women who have undergone through FGM practice female political activists and other political women who are useful for influencing policy change. At local level the primary beneficiaries are rural women and girls. secondary beneficiaries are CBOs police forces and judicial system circumcisers teachers and raditional healers.

|

The proposed project will addr...ess and tackle the socio-economic marginalization of the most vulnerable Palestinian Young Women with Disabilities (YWWD) living in the West Bank districts with a special focus on remote and marginalized areas including area C. The project will be implemented through a holistic psycho-social and economic development approach to provide the targeted group with empowerment and inclusion services to sustainably improve their livelihoods promote their access to social services and social protection in an integrated framework Leads to developing hopeful approach towards life. The project is intended to build the capacities of young Palestinian women with disabilities to become self advocates to their rights to influence attitudes practices and decision making processes in local and national government. Further to build their vocational capacities to be able to participate effectively in the job market. In Addition to these interventions that are dedicated to empower YWWD at the psycho-social and economic levels it is intended to raise societal awareness on the rights of YWWD especially their rights to decent work and to increase societal sensitization against all kinds of violence toward YWWD.As a result this proposed project is seen as a continuation to the previous one and it will continue to address the human educational economic and social rights of young women with disabilities with disabilities. The project will follow a twin track approach to development and disability. On one hand it will work on empowering YWWD through building their vocational educational and technical capacities. This is done through increasing YWWD access to livelihood and social activities education and health care. On the other hand it will work on mainstreaming disability in the Palestinian society with a special focus on the rights of YWWD to decent work and on increasing societal sensitivity on gender based violence against women with disabilities. To achieve this the project will work on building the capacity of Women with Disabilities to protect the rights of women living with disabilities and to call for effective implementation of the National Disability Strategy (NDS) and ensure that it will not lose its momentum with a specific focus on Strategic Approach 3 4 and 6 of the National Strategic Plan of the Disability Sector in the OPT 2012.

Promoting integrated and multi...-sectoral approach to provide services to women and girls victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV) by piloting district-level referral networks and by encouraging effective civil society participation in GBV prevention efforts.GBV is widely recognized as a violation of human rights and threats the rights status and well-being of women and girls. Juzoor together with partners from civil society and public sectors has successfully initiated a national referral system that has been endorsed by the Council of Ministers. Juzoor will activate the national referral system in at least two West Bank districts (Jenin and Tubas). It will do so through strengthening the institutional capacity of service providers developing district-level referral networks raising community awareness and knowledge on GBV including on the availability of existing services. While the focus is to improve district-level GBV prevention protection and response the project will also work towards strengthening the referral system at the national level. It will do so through documenting and sharing lessons learnt in the piloting of district-level referral networks with national stakeholders involved in the national referral system. The project is fully corresponds to one of the four priorities of Finlands development policy: promoting the rights of women and girls. It is in strategic alignment with the expected result of the FLC: increased support to the victims of gender based violence. The project will work with both rights-holders and duty-bearers in the fight against GBV and its adverse impact on the advancement of womens rights and status through facilitating changes at multiple levels including at the level of service providers (Output 1.1: The capacity and responsiveness of 40 service providers in the health social and justice sectors to GBV in particular detection prevention treatment and referral of GBV is enhanced); at the district level (Output 1.2: Referral protocols are effectively being implemented in the two targeted districts); at the community level (Output 2.1: four community-based organizations in targeted communities are capacitated to deliver effective GBV prevention and referral services to women and girls victims or at risk of GBV) and finally at the national level (Output 2.2: National Referral Committee is activated and are sharing lessons to enhance the performance of the national referral system).

It is estimated that more than... half of Afghanistan's female prisoners have been convicted of crimes against the so-called morality, or on the basis of Zina (extra-marital sexual relations); although in fact they have often escaped from their home for being victims of violence and /or rape. These cases often, especially outside Kabul, are not treated under official legal system, but within the framework of traditional legal systems (jirga or shura), which are dominated by men and patriarchal. Of course the officially courts are also, where the judgments can be against both Islam anf the existing legislation. The project aims at increasing equality and women's legal awareness, legal protection and promotion of the role of women in the administration of justice and the promotion of processing of cases of women within the framework of the official courts. The aim is to increase the awareness of authorities and the general public of women's rights. The target group is primarily those accused of crimes or women and girls in need of family legal assistance, but legal advice can also be offered to the poor men. The organization offers legal assistance during the year for 100 women and children in the form of the defense lawyers and legal advice up to 200 people. In addition, the project is beneficiaries are 10 selected people from rural communities to paralegal training. Justice for All Organization is a group of lawyers, judges and prosecutors, who in 2008, founded the NGO with a vision of peace and security, the rule of law, democratic structures and gender equality and human rights in Afghanistan.www.jfao.org

As a result of the DRC 's long...-running conflict children's registration system have collapsed. According to UNICEF, in 2011 only 41 % of children were registered. During the project, the organization is going to upgrade its own population register in order to provide a more accurate picture about registrations development of the area. A general feature that characterizes the conflict of DRC 's eastern regions is the violence against civilians , particularly sexual violence . Human Rights Watch, the sexual violence is committed by all parties of the conflict. Particularly problematic is the culture of the military government's impunity. UNFPA estimates that the vast majority of sexual assault victims are teenage girls. In the project area Kabare, and especially in Mudaka administrative region, rebel forces have abducted women and girls as sex slaves. Victims of sexual violence often reject their children born as a result of rape. These children's risks related to unregistration increase even more, as they are already socially disadvantaged. At local level, attitudes prevent the realization of newborn children's rights. The project aims to promote children's rights in Kabare ,South Kivu. The aim is to contribute to the emergence of legal system that consideres the children's rights who have born as a result of a rape rapes and who are orphaned because of the war, as well as to inform and train about the child rights, in particular the rights of the children emerged by the violence and orphaned children's rights. Project's direct beneficiaries are the registered children, local leaders and government officials involved in the training, health workers, child organizations, primary school teaching staff, religious leaders, police and abandoned children's foster families. Coming from the university world, the SOS Information Juridique Multisectorielle SOS IJM was founded in 2007. Organization works in South Kivu, in the eastern part Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC ). SOS IJM 's goal is promotion and facilitating of the realization of human rights.

Social and cultural norms cont...inue to undermine ongoing legal and administrative efforts helping to sustain gender inequalities which hinder women and girls from fully exercising their rights and make them vulnerable to preventable death and disability.Studies show that the patriarchal system in Kenya and particularly among the Somali Community combined with absence of rights at the household level have made women and girls vulnerable to violence and it is time for every man woman and leaders in Kenya to start doing something to end the scourge of violence against women and girls in their homes and communities.FGM for example is an old age barbaric act that was and is still used to subdue and violate the rights of women in many counties. It is widely practiced by some communities in Kenya as a heritage of the past and is often associated with ethnic identity as a rite of passage. Despite horrors and life long consequences that it puts women through it is still practiced with impunity. In Kenya an estimated 27.1% of girls and women aged 15-49 years have undergone FGM (DHS 2008- 09) a figure that has decreased from 37.6% % in 1998 and 32.2% in 2003. There are significant regional variations with prevalence ranges from 0.8% in the west to over 97% in the North-East (DHS 2008-09). The practice is particularly widespread among the Somalis in the North Eastern province (97.7%) with 75% having undergone Type III infibulation. The prevalence is also highest among the Kisii (96.1%) and the Maasai (73.2%).

given a fair treatment like th...eir male counterparts. This in the end eventually renders them voiceless and helpless in the community. As a result of gender inequality that is highly embraced in the community women have been denied opportunities to participate in decision making leadership ownership of properties and also suffer as victims of retrogressive cultural practices that are always unfriendly to both women and girls. The patriarchy system within the community has denied women their rights and exposed them to inequality and suffers as victims of retrogressive cultural practices. The deeply rooted harmful traditional practices (HTPs) that include FGM girl child beading forced early marriages and crude abortions have continuously subjugated women to be voiceless and have also tremendously affected their health and well-being.The existing cultural beliefs in the Samburu community have continuously demeaned women dignity and also hindered their participation in key decision making processes. This has further led to limitation of women participation in leadership both at the community and other levels. As such women issues are not addressed hence becoming more vulnerable and increased poverty levels among them. This is one of the factors contributing to high dependency levels of women in the community.structured dialogue forums o increase community understanding on existing legislations that protect women and girls rights prohibit FGM and other related harmful traditional practices. Carry out Mentorship and leadership camps for girls during holidays and offering guidance and counseling sessions to the victims of harmful traditional practices. Supporting existing income generating activities for the indigenous women groups to strengthen their alternative sources of livelihoods to enable their self-reliance.Organize and facilitate an annual national women conference that aims at bringing women survivors of the silent practices to share their stories Marking international events to educate and sensitize the local community on the dangers of retrogressive cultural practices for instance FGM understanding laws that prohibit harmful traditional practices and also increase community awareness on legislations that protect women and girls rights.

Poverty instability and displa...cement of Syrians in Lebanon have led to the increase of child marriage among Syrian refugees as well as vulnerable Lebanese. This project implemented by Developmental Action without Borders (Naba?a) intends to contribute to the reduction of early marriage in the most vulnerable and neglected communities (Lebanese and Syrian communities) in Akkar North Lebanon and providing a protective environment particularly for young and adolescent girls . This will be achieved through the followings two main components; 1.The first one is fostering and reshape the lives of the most marginalized Lebanese and displaced young and adolescent girls through empowering the vocational skills and enrolling them in the vocational training center to study a vocational profession this might help in preventing them to get married in the early ages and to think of their future in addition to provide an opportunity for the displaced young girls to find a job in the Lebanese community and to integrate with into it so that their socio-economic situation will be enhanced as they are able to afford their daily expenses without being a burden on their families. 2. The second component will be focused on the parents adolescent girls and Community Members whom will be empowered and enabled to take Informed Decisions and to become Agents of Positive Change in order to prevent and Respond to Early Marriage. This will be achieved through (awareness raising capacity development for parents particularly mothers and community leaders on the child rights protection and the risks of early marriage). As a result of the project 20 adolescents' (15-18 years) socio-economic situation is improved through vocational and life skills trainings. Additional 600 family and community members are empowered and become aware about early marriage and its impact on the girls so that the community members can become agents of positive change in order to mitigate and respond to early marriage.
