Building on decades of USAIDs ...work procuring health commodities and strengthening supply chains, the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management project is working to transform global and national supply chains for health commodities. The project integrates two former USAID programs into one efficient supply chain that serves many of the worlds most vulnerable and difficult-to-reach communities. The project is designed to meet todays critical global health challenges eliminating HIV and AIDS, providing universal malaria coverage, and helping women meet their family planning and reproductive health needs. By bringing together advanced technical solutions, a team of highly qualified experts, and proven commercial processes and principles, USAID Global Health Supply Chain works to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in global and national supply chains. In addition to optimizing supply chains, the project is strengthening national supply chain systems and fostering collaboration among supply chain stakeholders worldwide.

The Adolescent Health Skills S...trengthening (AHS) activity will improve adolescents' health and well-being by increasing access to and utilization of sexual and reproductive health services. Specifically, the AHS activity will strengthen youth-friendly service provision at government health service sites and deliver both health information and life skills to unmarried adolescents. It will also provide counseling on family planning and maternal health and relationships to married youth. The AHS project will also engage key members of the community to advocate for delaying marriage and pregnancy in order to improve the health and overall wellbeing of adolescent girls and their families.

The Health Policy Project (HPP...) works to strengthen developing country national and subnational policy, advocacy, governance, and finance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming. HPP helps countries bring about real change in the health of people and communities. We work with in-country partners to sustain commitment to and ownership of policy responses that support improvements in family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, and maternal health.
more
|
Globally, HPP contributes to i...mproved health outcomes through strengthening the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of health systems in a multi-sectoral context. HPP focuses on the policy aspects of health and other social sectors, often in a multi-sectoral context. We also assist countries to improve health outcomes by addressing barriers due to gender inequalities, socioeconomic status, stigma and discrimination, operational issues, and other factors that prevent people from seeking the health and related social services they need. Throughout our work, we are committed to encouraging in-country capacity for policy, advocacy, governance, and finance. For additional information on HPP see www.healthpolicyproject.com. (https://jobpaw.com/public/detailsjob.php?idjob=5595)
In Haiti, HPP has been asked to implement the USAID-funded for the Aksyon Kolektif pou Sekirite kont Eksplwatasyon (AKSE) Program which supports a multi-sectoral approach to strengthen the Haitian environment for human rights in general and for vulnerable populations, in particular, children, women, and sexual minorities. AKSE was previously implemented by CARE International. HPP will build on the work of the previous project from March 2014 through at least September 2015, with potential for extension.

ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ...AND GIRLS
more
|
Ending Violence Against Women ...and Girls
more
|
Ending violence against women ...and girls at home, in their communities and in disaster and conflict situations is one of the four pillars of Australia's gender equality strategy. This strategy highlights that a more strategic and targeted focus is needed in areas where progress has been slow and that the highest levels of expenditure will be in the countries with the most severe gender gaps. Cambodia meets this criterion as it ranks 99 out of 145 countries in the Gender Inequality Index (GII) of the 2011 Human Development Report (HDR), which is one of the lowest rankings in the region. The program will work with the Ministry of Women's Affairs (MOWA) of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), the Ministries of Interior and Justice (through CCJAP) and Cambodian Civil Society to deliver a comprehensive response to VAW. In the short term, we will: support the development of a new National Action Plan on Violence Against Women (NAPVAW) that is fully costed, evidence based, and developed in consultation with communities, survivors of violence, Civil Society Organisations (CSO) and whole of government, to identify a comprehensive and coordinated response to VAW; and b) support a prevalence study that will ensure resources are well targeted need. In the medium term (July-December) the program will undertake a joint design with UN Women to: 1) identify the best modality for civil society support for providing victim assistance services, legal aid, advocacy and community awareness/behaviour change; and 2) assess the feasibility of integrating the legal enforcement aspects of the NAPVAW into the new phase of assistance to the justice sector); and longer term we will have: i) an Agreement with UN Women to manage a civil society program window; and ii) integrated feasible components of NAPVAW into the 2013 CCJAP Annual Plans, leveraging additional funding to make real improvements. The total value of this initiative is $15.7million over 5 years, starting 2011-12.

ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ...AND GIRLS: FOUNDATION
more
|
Ending Violence Against Women ...And Girls: Foundation
|

Empowering Indonesian Women fo...r Poverty Reduction Program (MAMPU) aims to improve the welfare of poor women in Indonesia. The program will work with Government, civil society, parliamentarians and the private sector to target improvements to selected policy and regulatory reforms that constrain progress on poverty reduction, particularly for women. The program will focus on five thematic areas where reform would make a significant difference for poor women: increasing women's access to jobs and removing workplace discrimination; improving women's access to government programs for social protection; improving conditions for women's overseas labour migration; strengthening women's leadership for better health and reproductive rights; strengthening women's leadership to address violence against women. The program will work with all stakeholders to analyse constraints, identify and test solutions, work with the media, and use an evidence base to advocate for change. The total value of this initiative is $60.0 million over 4 years, starting 2012-13.

Kiribati Women Development Div...ision Support Committed To Ending Violence Against Women And Eliminating Sexual And Gender Based Violence
more
|
The Government of Kiribati (Go...K) is committed to ending violence against women and has developed and endorsed a policy on Eliminating Sexual and Gender Based Violence, and an accompanying 'National Action Plan for Eliminating Sexual and Gender Based Violence in Kiribati' (NAP). GoK is also currently on their way to having a Family Peace Bill that aims to criminalise domestic violence read in the first 2014 Kiribati parliament sitting. The policy and national action plan came after the release of the Kiribati Family Health and Support Study (KFHSS) report findings of 2009 that documented extremely high levels of domestic violence specifically physical and sexual violence in the country. The endorsed ESGBV policy, 10 year national action plan and development legislation (the Family Peace Bill) demonstrates GoK's strong commitment to take action to address this issue. The Australian Aid Program has held several discussions with GoK and other UN agencies about the support needed for implementation of the national action plan and inc collaboration with UNWomen, the Shared Implementation Plan (SHIP) and UN Joint Plan (UNJP) have been designed to implement the national action plan and currently expected to be finalised 30 June 2014. The accumulated total value of this initiative over 9 years starting 2011-12 is $11,382,985 million.

1. Food - 25%
2. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) – 15%
3. Health – 20%
4. Shelter and Non-food items (NFIs)15%
5. Agriculture/ Livelihoods – 5%
6. Protection – 10% --> composed of safe areas for children; psychological support for adults; SGBV
7. Education – 5%
8. Enabling activities – 5%
The output weighting reflects both prioritisation of needs and the approximate share of the budget. The weighting remains the same for the next phase of the programme.
