The Gender Action Platform (th...e GAP) is a competitive grants program for Australian Non-Government Orhanisations (NGOs) accredited under the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) to strengthen gender equality programming in the Indo-Pacific. ANCP NGOs will have the opportunity to submit a proposal for a grant between $0.5 million and $3.0 million for a new or existing project addressing gender equality that scales up good practice or trials innovation. The proposals must align with Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's (DFAT)Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Strategy. DFAT has also identified country/regional gender equality challenges to create collective action around key gender challenges. The objective of the GAP is to strengthen NGO projects to enhance gender equality outcomes in developing countries through: the delivery of innovative or transformational NGO projects that reduce violence against women, increase women's economic opportunities and improve leadership for and by women through collective action; shared learning on good gender equality practice and lessons from trialling new approaches with GAP NGOs and the broader ANCP; increased collaboration on gender equality development challenges, including between NGOs and DFAT bilateral and regional programs. GAP aims to encourage innovation, development coordination, improved monitoring, evaluation and shared learning processes and effective partnerships across projects addressing gender equality. The total value of this investment is $10.0 million over 4 years, starting 2016-17.

SONNE-International operates t...wo Indian village schools in Bakrour and Basadhi in the Gaya district (state of Bihar) to enable free school access for around 300 children of the lowest caste. These schools are formally recognized by the government and have the same curriculum as a state school, but they do not have adequate technical equipment and a stable power supply to integrate modern teaching methods such as webinars, online workshops and educational videos into the classroom. Therefore, these two village schools are to be modernized technically (computer, video projector, webcams etc.) and become energy self-sufficient using photovoltaics. In addition, these technical resources should also be used for so-called 'Community Awareness Cinemas' for villagers, for example on the subject of family planning, education, etc.

Background: De Belgische gyna...ecoloog Dr. Ombelet van de organisatie 'the Walking Egg' ontwikkelde een techniek die de kostprijs van een vruchtbaarheidsbehandeling drastisch verlaagt. De techniek werd door zijn collega's op het Wereldcongres Gynaecologie in 2013 erkend en gevalideerd. The Walking Egg wil deze techniek onder strikte voorwaarden toepassen in de derde wereld. Het onrecht dat vrouwen in vele landen wordt aangedaan indien ze kinderloos blijven is namelijk schrijnend : ze worden verstoten, op hoge leeftijd worden ze niet geholpen door kinderen, ze verliezen hun sociale status, … Dr. Ombelet wil deze techniek aan artsen in de derde wereld aanleren. Dit gebeurt onder strikte voorwaarden: bv. artsen moeten tegelijkertijd ook anticonceptie promoten. De reeks volgt twee missies van Dr. Ombelet, in Zuid -Afrika en in Ghana. - General objective: Een belangrijk thema in deze mini -reeks is het introduceren van innovatie. Hier wordt een Belgische innovatietechniek aangeleerd aan lokale artsen. En dit op een manier met oog voor de eigen problematiek van de lokale bevolking. In de reeks komt ook de samenwerking met de lokale ziekenhuizen te staan. De medewerkers van 'The Walking Egg' trekken naar Zuid -Afrika en Ghana om daar de nieuwe techniek aan lokale artsen te leren. Het uiteindelijke doel is om het niveau van de lokale hulpverlening te verbeteren, dankzij een Belgische organisatie. -

General description: General ...objective:To contribute to the achievement of the objective of the Mozambican MoH FP strategy, in particular to increase Contraceptive Prevalence Rate to 25% in 2014. -- Specific objectives:1. To align the Mozambican FP strategy to international guidelines. 2. To ensure sustained and adequate offer/integration of FP services, in particular LARCs.3. To provide knowledge on the enabling factors and barriers with regard to appropriate contraceptive use, in particular LARCs, at community and individual level. -- Specific purpose : 1. Recommendations for the Ministry of Health allowing it to ensure the alignment of the national family planning strategy to international guidelines. -- 2. A health service delivery approach that can be adopted by the Ministry of Health to ensure a sustained and adequate offer/integration of family planning services. -- 3. Understanding of the driving factors (enabling factors and barriers) for contraceptive use in well-informed communities. --

This project aims to help redu...ce illness and death among mothers and children by improving the delivery of comprehensive and integrated sexual and reproductive health services to poor, marginalized and high-risk communities. Providing access to sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning, is critical to improving maternal and child health on a sustainable basis. Access to these services empowers women and girls, improves their life opportunities, and reduces maternal and infant mortality caused by the transmission of HIV and unplanned pregnancies. This project is in line with the priorities of the Muskoka Initiative relating to the health of mothers, newborns and children. / Ce projet vise à réduire les cas de maladie et le nombre des décès chez les mères et les enfants en améliorant la prestation de services de santé sexuelle et génésique complets et intégrés aux collectivités pauvres, marginalisées et à risque élevé. L'accès aux services de santé sexuelle et génésique, incluant la planification familiale, est essentiel pour une amélioration durable de la santé maternelle et infantile. L'accès à ces services rend les femmes et filles plus autonomes, améliore leurs perspectives de vie et réduit la mortalité maternelle et infantile causée par la transmission du VIH et les grossesses involontaires. Ce projet est conforme aux priorités établies par l'Initiative de Muskoka à l'égard de la santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants.

The H4+ Global Initiative to A...ccelerate Support for Maternal and Newborn Health aims to significantly reduce maternal and newborn mortality in countries with the highest incidences of maternal and newborn illness and death. The program is a collaborative mechanism comprised of the UN health agencies, collectively referred to as the H4+ (the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund, the United Nations Population Fund, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, the World Bank, and UN Women) to assist high-burden countries in accelerating the implementation of commitments already made to the UN Secretary General's Global Strategy for Women's and Children's Health. / L'Initiative mondiale du Groupe H4+ pour accélérer le soutien à la santé des mères et des nouveau-nés vise à réduire de manière importante la mortalité chez les mères et les nouveau-nés dans les pays qui comptent les taux les plus élevés de maladies et de décès chez ces groupes de personnes. Le programme est un mécanisme collaboratif formé des organismes de santé des Nations Unies (c.-à-d. le groupe H4+ : Organisation mondiale de la santé, Fonds des nations unies pour l'enfance, le Fonds des Nations Unies pour la population, le Programme commun des Nations Unies sur le VIH/sida, la Banque mondiale et l'ONU Femmes). This project seeks to improve ...the health of the population in all districts of Bangladesh by strengthening the Bangladesh Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's management of the public health care system and by improving public health services. The project forms the cornerstone of Canada's support for achieving development objectives in the health sector in Bangladesh and its main focus is to help implement the Ministry's Health, Population and Nutrition Sector Development Program. The project activities include: (1) improving the financial management of the Ministry's aid budget; (2) procuring obstetric drugs and family planning supplies in low performing districts with high maternal, newborn and child mortality rates; (3) updating the regulatory framework for the accreditation of health personnel; (4) improving the planning, development and management of human resources for health; (5) increasing the availability of maternal health services; and (6) developing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation plan within the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. As with all pooled funding initiatives, Canada is working in close cooperation with other donors and the Government of Bangladesh to focus on effective, transparent, and accountable country systems; increase donor coordination and harmonization; and strengthen mutual accountability. This project is continuously monitored and evaluated in coordination with other donors, which include the World Bank, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Australia, Germany and the United States. / Ce projet vise à améliorer la santé de l'ensemble de la population vivant dans les districts du Bangladesh, en renforçant la gestion du système public de soins de santé par le ministère de la Santé et du Bien-être de la famille et en améliorant les services de santé publique. Il représente la pierre angulaire de l'aide fournie par le Canada pour atteindre les objectifs de développement dans le secteur de la santé au Bangladesh et vise essentiellement à aider le Ministère à mettre en oeuvre son programme de développement des secteurs de la santé, de la population et de la nutrition. Le projet comporte diverses activités : 1) amélioration de la gestion financière du budget d'aide du ministère; 2) approvisionnement en produits de planification familiale et en médicaments utilisés en obstétrique dans les districts qui enregistrent des taux de mortalité élevés chez les mères, les nouveau-nés et les enfants; 3) mise à jour du cadre réglementaire pour l'accréditation du personnel de la santé; 4) amélioration de la planification, du perfectionnement et de la gestion des ressources humaines en santé; 5) accessibilité accrue des services de santé maternelle; 6) élaboration et mise en oeuvre d'un plan de suivi et d'évaluation au sein du ministère de la Santé et du Bien-être de la famille. This contribution represents C...anada's long-term institutional support to the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), a non-profit international health research, service, and training institution. icddr,b uses these funds, along with other donors' funding, to achieve its mandate. icddr,b's mandate is to provide free, high quality health care for the poor in Bangladesh, including maternal and child health services and treatment for diarrhoeal and other diseases. It also supports research that is designed to generate the data needed to develop policies and practices to address significant health challenges in Bangladesh and other countries. Canada's support to icddr,b contributes to ensuring that icddr,b is providing effective, evidence-based, gender-responsive health care and health education services for the poor. It also ensures that the icddr,b can continue to conduct important health research that translates into policies that can help to improve the health and reduce poverty levels of Bangladeshis. Canada's institutional support is also helping to strengthen the management systems and improve the sustainability of the Centre. / Cette contribution représente le soutien institutionnel à long terme du Canada au Centre international de recherche sur les maladies diarrhéiques du Bangladesh (CIRMD - Bangladesh), un institut international de recherche, de services et de formation dans le secteur de la santé à but non lucratif. Le CIRMD utilise ces fonds, ainsi que ceux octroyés par d'autres donateurs, pour mener à bien son mandat. Le CIRMD a pour mandat d'offrir gratuitement des soins de santé de qualité aux personnes démunies du Bangladesh, y compris des services de santé maternelle et infantile et un traitement des maladies diarrhéiques, entre autres. The project seeks to increase ...the quality and quantity of health services for mothers and newborns by supporting the Joint Government of Bangladesh-UN Maternal and Neonatal Health Initiative. The project targets current challenges such as inconsistent quality of services and the fact that mothers, for a variety of reasons, hesitate to use such services even when they do exist. The project takes place at the local level in districts and communities and focuses on poor and marginalized populations. It includes activities such as: (1) providing training and information for mothers about harmful health practices and the need to use and demand better services; (2) providing technical assistance and support to improve local level planning by the government; (3) supporting coordination between non-governmental organizations and the government to develop better services; and (4) providing training to improve the skills of doctors, nurses and other community-based health personnel. Canada s contribution expands the original initiative to include seven new districts. This project is part of Canada s Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. / Le projet vise à accroître la qualité et la quantité des services de santé offerts aux mères et aux nouveau-nés en appuyant l initiative conjointe du gouvernement du Bangladesh et de l Organisation des Nations Unies (ONU) en matière de santé des mères et des nouveau-nés. Il s attaque aux problèmes actuels, comme la qualité inégale des services et l hésitation des mères, pour diverses raisons, à se prévaloir de ces services même lorsqu ils existent. Le projet se déroule à l échelle locale dans les districts et les communautés, et met l accent sur les populations pauvres et marginalisées. Il comprend des activités comme : 1) l organisation de séances de formation et d information pour les mères quant aux pratiques sanitaires néfastes et à la nécessité d utiliser et d exiger de meilleurs services; 2) la prestation d une assistance et d un soutien techniques pour améliorer la planification à l échelle locale par le gouvernement; 3) le soutien à la coordination entre les organisations non gouvernementales et le gouvernement pour mettre au point de meilleurs services; 4) l organisation de formations pour renforcer les compétences des médecins, des infirmières et d autres travailleurs de la santé en milieu communautaire. The project contributes to imp...roving maternal, newborn and child health, protecting children and preventing sexual and gender-based violence by supporting the production and nationwide broadcast of radio serial dramas. These dramas provide information, tools and resources to stimulate social change, raise the awareness and improve the overall health and well-being of the audience. The dramas use characters and settings that reflect people's daily lives and current impressions of health and social issues. Produced in the most commonly spoken languages in the Democratic Republic of Congo, these dramas use the country's most economical and far-reaching mass media mechanism. The project promotes positive behavioural changes related to themes such as: immunization for all children and pregnant women; improving child nutrition; the proper use of treated bed nets to prevent malaria; child spacing and delaying marriage and onset of childbearing to promote the health of mothers; birth registration; and positive behaviours for both women and men with regard to gender equality and HIV/AIDS prevention. / Le projet contribue à l'amélioration de la santé maternelle, néonatale et infantile, ainsi qu'à la protection de l'enfance et la prévention des violences sexuelles et basées sur le genre, par son appui à la production et à la diffusion de feuilletons radiophoniques à l'échelle nationale. Ces radioromans fournissent des informations, des outils et des ressources afin d'inciter des changements sociaux, de sensibiliser et d'améliorer la santé et le bien-être des auditeurs. Les radios-romans utilisent des personnages et des situations reflétant la vie quotidienne et l'opinion générale de la population sur les enjeux sociaux et sanitaires. Réalisés dans les langues les plus parlées en République démocratique du Congo, ces radioromans atteignent des millions d'auditeurs par le biais du média le plus économique et de plus grande portée du pays. Le projet favorise les changements de comportement positifs vis-à-vis: de la vaccination des enfants et des femmes enceintes; des meilleures pratiques de nutrition des enfants; de l'utilisation appropriée des moustiquaires imprégnées d'insecticide; de l'espacement des naissances; du recul de l'âge du mariage et de la maternité; de l'enregistrement des naissances; des comportements positifs des femmes et des hommes en matière d'égalité des sexes; et de la prévention du VIH/sida.

The H4+ Global Initiative to A...ccelerate Support for Maternal and Newborn Health aims to significantly reduce maternal and newborn mortality in countries with the highest incidences of maternal and newborn illness and death. This project supports the reco...nstruction of Haiti s National School of Midwifery and of a maternity clinic. The project includes the training of professional midwives and Haitian health and management personnel. Each new maternity clinic has 2 certified midwives and offers services that include basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care, family planning, prevention and testing of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, and services for victims of sexual violence. The project aims to provide increased access to qualified preventative and basic emergency obstetric and neonatal services to approximately 230,000 women and girls affected by the earthquake, including 25,000 pregnant women. This project is part of Canada s Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. / Ce projet appuie la reconstruction de l École nationale des sages-femmes et une clinique de maternité. Le projet comporte la formation de sages-femmes professionnelles et de personnel haïtien de gestion et de la santé. Chaque nouvelle clinique de maternité compte deux sages-femmes qualifiées et offre des services tels des soins néonatals et d obstétrique d urgence, des services de planification familiale, des services de prévention et de dépistage du VIH/sida et des infections transmises sexuellement, ainsi que des services aux victimes de violence sexuelle. Le projet vise à offrir à quelque 230 000 femmes et filles qui ont été victimes du séisme, dont 25 000 femmes enceintes, un accès accru à des services préventifs et d urgence en matière de néonatalité et d obstétrique. This project aims to improve m...aternal, newborn, and child health services for up to 260,000 women and 140,500 children in Artibonite province. It supports the rehabilitation of nine maternity clinics and seven community health centres and includes repairing infrastructure, installing equipment, and providing staff training. Five of the maternity clinics offer basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care. The other four offer a higher level of care, including caesarean sections and blood transfusions. The community clinics offer basic services for children under five years of age in remote rural areas, including routine vaccinations, vitamin A distribution, growth monitoring, oral rehydration therapy, and deworming. The project supports 40 water and sanitation initiatives that aim to prevent the spread of diseases such as cholera and improve coordination and referrals between community and province-wide service providers. This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. This project has two components. It has been divided for administrative reasons. / Ce projet vise à améliorer les services en matière de santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants pour jusqu'à 260 000 femmes et 140 500 enfants dans la province de l'Artibonite. Il appuie la remise en état de neuf cliniques d'obstétrique et sept centres de santé communautaires, y compris la réparation des infrastructures, l'installation d'équipements et la formation du personnel. Cinq des cliniques d'obstétrique s'occupent de soins obstétricaux et néonatals d'urgence, tandis que les quatre autres dispensent des soins plus poussés, y compris des césariennes et des transfusions sanguines. Les cliniques communautaires offrent quant à elles, des services de base destinés aux enfants de moins de cinq ans dans les régions rurales isolées, notamment des services de vaccination systématique, de distribution de suppléments de vitamine A, de suivi de la croissance, de réhydratation par voie orale et de déparasitage. This project aims to help redu...ce illness and death among mothers and children by improving the delivery of comprehensive and integrated sexual and reproductive health services to poor, marginalized and high-risk communities. Providing access to sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning, is critical to improving maternal and child health on a sustainable basis. Access to these services empowers women and girls, improves their life opportunities, and reduces maternal and infant mortality caused by the transmission of HIV and unplanned pregnancies. This project is in line with the priorities of the Muskoka Initiative relating to the health of mothers, newborns and children. / Ce projet vise à réduire les cas de maladie et le nombre des décès chez les mères et les enfants en améliorant la prestation de services de santé sexuelle et génésique complets et intégrés aux collectivités pauvres, marginalisées et à risque élevé. L'accès aux services de santé sexuelle et génésique, incluant la planification familiale, est essentiel pour une amélioration durable de la santé maternelle et infantile. This Joint UN programme aims t...o contribute to the reduction of maternal, newborn and child morbidity and mortality nationally, with a particular focus in Zambezia Province. It aims to do so through: (i) technical assistance to improve policy, planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation; (ii) provision of training and other inputs to expand health services and improve the quality of services provided; (iii) technical assistance to improve the ability of the Zambezia Provincial Directorate of Health to deliver on its mandate and provide services to its population; and (iv) social mobilisation in communities to increase the knowledge of and demand for quality health care as well as adopting infant feeding and appropriate hygiene practices. / Ce programme commun des Nations Unies vise à contribuer à la réduction de la morbidité et de la mortalité maternelle, néonatale, et infantile à l échelle nationale, tout particulièrement dans la province de Zambezia. Pour y parvenir, le programme vise à fournir : i) une assistance technique afin d améliorer les politiques, la planification, la budgétisation et les méthodes de suivi et d évaluation; ii) de la formation et d autres interventions pour élargir l offre de services de santé et améliorer la qualité de ces services; iii) une assistance technique pour accroître la capacité de la Direction provinciale de la santé de Zambezia à accomplir son mandat et à fournir des services à sa population. En outre, le projet permet de mobiliser les collectivités pour accroître leurs connaissances au sujet des soins de santé de qualité et la demande à cet égard, et de favoriser l adoption de pratiques d alimentation des nourrissons et d hygiène appropriées.

This project aims to strengthe...n maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) services at the local level and reduce the number of mothers and children who die due to disease in Tanzania. The project includes improving policies and practices that promote maternal and newborn health and nutrition in a gender-responsive manner, in order to improve access to quality reproductive health, child health, and nutrition services for women and children. The project works to bring basic emergency obstetric and newborn care services and integrated management of newborn and childhood illness to 70% of health centers in underserved districts. It helps to establish comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care services in all six district health facilities in Zanzibar. As a result of this project, 80% of primary health care facilities are expected to have at least two trained MNCH health providers and all regional and targeted districts are expected to have one trained nutrition coordinator. The project also aims to connect at least 40% of districts to electronic stock management systems that enable them to monitor their supply of essential medicines, vaccines, contraceptives, and other supplies and to forecast future requirements. The project is expected to lead to skilled attendants assisting 80% of births, a decrease in chronic malnutrition among children in targeted districts, and a 50% increase in breastfeeding for infants under six months of age. The One UN Program promotes improved coordination, efficiency, and effectiveness of UN agencies at the country level by establishing one leader, one program, one budgetary framework, and one office for all the agencies. This project is part of Canada s maternal, newborn, and child health commitment. / Ce projet vise à renforcer les services de santé destinés aux mères, aux nouveau-nés et aux enfants (SMNE) au niveau local ainsi qu à réduire le nombre de mères et d enfants en Tanzanie qui décèdent des suites d une maladie. Pour ce faire, le projet vise à améliorer les politiques et les pratiques qui sont axées sur la santé et l alimentation de la mère et du nouveau-né et qui tiennent compte des sexospécificités afin d améliorer, du même coup, l accès des femmes et des enfants aux services de qualité en matière de santé génésique, de santé des enfants et de nutrition. Ce projet cherche à assurer l accès aux services obstétricaux et néonatals d urgence de base et la gestion intégrée des maladies des nouveau-nés et des enfants dans 70 % des centres de santé établis dans les districts mal desservis. The goal of this project is to... improve the health of women and girls, especially mothers, in six districts of the Tabora region. It aims to reduce the barriers that prevent women in rural areas from getting access to the health services they require, to provide better-quality health services for mothers and children in rural areas, and to improve the ability of community health management teams to deliver quality health services. The project enhances women's ability to pay for health services; improves the knowledge and skills of health workers; and improves the ability of district-level health management teams to plan, budget, manage, monitor, and evaluate the health services provided in their districts. The project also builds on the government's community-based health worker program by training volunteer health workers to provide health education and information to women and their households. The project is expected to provide quality health services to over 400,000 women and adolescent girls and to 5,800 newborns. CARE Canada implements the project in collaboration with CARE Tanzania. CARE Tanzania works with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and international and local non-governmental organizations to address gaps in health services at the community and district levels. This project is part of Canada's maternal, newborn and child health commitment. / L'objectif de ce projet est d'améliorer la santé des femmes et des filles, en particulier des mères, dans six districts de la région de Tabora. Il vise à réduire les obstacles qui empêchent les femmes des régions rurales d'avoir accès aux services de santé dont elles ont besoin, à fournir des services de santé de meilleure qualité pour les mères et les enfants dans les régions rurales et à accroitre les capacités des équipes de gestion de la santé communautaire à fournir des services de santé de qualité. Le projet permet d'accroitre la capacité des femmes à payer pour des services de santé, d'améliorer les connaissances et les compétences des travailleurs de la santé et de renforcer les capacités des équipes de gestion de la santé communautaire des districts à planifier, à budgéter, à gérer, à contrôler et à évaluer les services de santé fournis dans leurs districts. The project aims to improve he...alth services for mothers, newborn babies, and young children in all five districts of the Simiyu region in Tanzania. The project is designed to strengthen existing health systems and to empower community members, especially women, to demand the health services they require, to make choices that support good health, and to get involved in managing local health care services. Specific activities include refurbishing and equipping health centres and district hospitals, providing training for local government officials to help them better manage and prioritize health services for mothers and children, and providing training for health workers with a focus on gender equality and public health issues. The project also supports community engagement activities that help local communities become more aware of issues relating to the health of women and children and to gender equality. The project provides community health workers with essential tools for treating women and children and training in home-based life-saving skills, birth planning, the treatment of childhood illnesses, and involving men in supporting the health of women and children in their community. This project is expected to directly help 108,000 pregnant women, 20,000 infants, and 114,000 children under five and indirectly help another 400,000 women and their families. The African Medical and Research Foundation is working in partnership with the Government of Tanzania, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and local government authorities to implement the project. This project is part of Canada s maternal, newborn, and child health commitment. / Le projet vise à améliorer les services de santé offerts aux mères, aux nouveau-nés et aux jeunes enfants dans les cinq districts de la région de Simiyu, en Tanzanie. This project aims to help redu...ce illness and death among mothers and children by improving the delivery of comprehensive and integrated sexual and reproductive health services to poor, marginalized and high-risk communities. Providing access to sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning, is critical to improving maternal and child health on a sustainable basis. Access to these services empowers women and girls, improves their life opportunities, and reduces maternal and infant mortality caused by the transmission of HIV and unplanned pregnancies. This project is in line with the priorities of the Muskoka Initiative relating to the health of mothers, newborns and children. / Ce projet vise à réduire les cas de maladie et le nombre des décès chez les mères et les enfants en améliorant la prestation de services de santé sexuelle et génésique complets et intégrés aux collectivités pauvres, marginalisées et à risque élevé. L'accès aux services de santé sexuelle et génésique, incluant la planification familiale, est essentiel pour une amélioration durable de la santé maternelle et infantile. L'accès à ces services rend les femmes et filles plus autonomes, améliore leurs perspectives de vie et réduit la mortalité maternelle et infantile causée par la transmission du VIH et les grossesses involontaires. This project aims to support t...he Global Financing Facility (GFF), a multi-donor financing platform that provides country-led, sustainable financing to end preventable maternal, newborn, and child deaths. The GFF finances national reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) plans, supports countries in the transition towards sustainable domestic financing of RMNCH, finances the strengthening of civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems, finances the development and deployment of global public goods, and contributes to a coordinated financing for RMNCH.Project activities will vary depending on the RMNCH priorities of the recipient government, but may include: (1) Clinical interventions such as increasing access to health services and health facilities from the pre-pregnancy stage onwards for women, newborns and children, (2) Health systems interventions such as strengthening health information systems, increasing access to medical products/technologies, and health systems strengthening; (3) Multi-sectoral interventions such as education, nutrition, and water and sanitation, in addition to strengthening CRVS systems.The GFF supports countries in developing individual RMNCH investment cases to align various sources of financing to national RMNCH priorities. The GFF leverages additional financing for RMNCH by matching grant funding from the GFF Trust Fund to financing from the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). GFF country selection is prioritized on the basis of criteria that includes available resources, need, population and income, eligibility for IDA/IBRD loans and the ability to achieve results./ Ce projet vise à appuyer le Mécanisme de financement mondial (MFM), une plateforme de financement multidonateurs qui fournit des fonds durables gérés par le pays pour mettre fin aux décès évitables de mères, de nouveau-nés et d'enfants. The project aims to reduce mat...ernal mortality in three departments of the country, through public health activities. It provides technical assistance, family planning, emergency obstetrical care, and the supply of inputs. The project is implemented by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in support of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP). The project helps improve access to quality services for women and improve the management of high-risk pregnancies. It complements other health system development projects by ensuring that operating rooms of targeted hospitals and maternity wards are up and running, and that emergency blood transfusions can be performed. / Le projet a pour objectif de réduire la mortalité maternelle dans trois départements du pays grâce à des activités de santé publique. Le projet comprend d'importants volets d'assistance technique, de planification familiale, de soins obstétricaux d'urgence et de fourniture d'intrants. Il est exécuté par le Fonds des Nations-Unies pour la population (FNUAP) et le Fonds des Nations-Unies pour l'enfance (UNICEF) en appui au ministère de la Santé publique et de la Population (MSPP). It mainly aims to support the Ministry of Health of Mali in implementing is Ten-Year Health and Social Development Plan 2014-2023. As is the case for all budget support initiatives, Canada is working closely with other donors and the Government of Mali to improve the emphasis on accountability, transparency and effectiveness of national systems by increasing coordination and harmonization among donors and strengthening mutual accountability. Budgetary support also fosters greater policy dialogue between donors, government and partners, which helps to reinforce efforts to provide targeted and effective help and get results from long-term development. The project aims to accelerate... the reduction of maternal, newborn and child mortality in 15 states and the federal capital territory of Nigeria. It is designed to strengthen the delivery of maternal, newborn and child health services through evidence-based, gender-responsive interventions, using existing health and community structures in the focus states. It also supports the procurement and distribution of equipment such as newborn resuscitation devices, HIV testing kits, communication equipment, and reproductive health supplies to cover 60% of the annual requirements of these states. Finally, the project provides technical and financial support to enhance the skills of health workers - midwives, doctors and Community Health Extension Workers - through updating training guidelines under the Midwifery Services Schemes, the Community Health Extension Workers Program and doctors serving in the Nigeria Youth Service Corps. The project is implemented in alignment with the Government of Nigeria's Integrated Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Strategy. The project is implemented by UNICEF in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. / Le projet vise à accélérer la réduction de la mortalité maternelle, néonatale et infantile dans 15 États et le territoire de la capitale fédérale du Nigéria. Il est conçu pour renforcer la prestation de services de santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants grâce à des interventions basées sur des preuves et tenant compte des sexospécificités, à l'aide des structures communautaires et sanitaires existantes dans les États ciblés. Il apporte également un soutien à l'achat et la distribution d'équipements tels que des appareils de réanimation de nouveau-nés, des trousses de dépistage du VIH, de l'équipement de communication et des fournitures de santé reproductive pour couvrir 60 % des besoins annuels de ces États. Enfin, le projet fournit un appui technique et financier pour renforcer les compétences des travailleurs de la santé - sages-femmes, médecins et travailleurs de santé communautaire - en mettant à jour les lignes directrices de formation du Plan de service des sages-femmes, du Programme des travailleurs de santé communautaire et des médecins oeuvrant au sein du corps de la jeunesse du Nigéria. Le projet s'inscrit dans le cadre de la Stratégie intégrée en santé maternelle, néonatale et infantile du gouvernement du Nigéria. Le projet est réalisé par UNICEF, en collaboration avec l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) et le Fonds des Nations Unies pour la population (UNFPA). Ce projet fait partie de l'engagement du Canada à l'égard de la santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants.

This project aims to reduce ma...ternal and newborn deaths by increasing women's access to qualified midwives in South Sudan. It places 45 United Nations (UN) volunteer midwives in health facilities in all 10 states of South Sudan (30 international and 15 national midwives). The UN midwives facilitate about 150,000 safe deliveries, provide at least 300,000 women with prenatal care, and mentor more than 1,000 midwifery and nursing students studying at Canada-supported and other health sciences training institutes in South Sudan. This project is part of Canada's maternal newborn and child health commitment. / Ce projet vise à réduire le nombre de décès chez les mères et les nouveau-nés en augmentant l'accès des femmes à des sages-femmes qualifiées. Il soutient le déploiement de 45 sages-femmes des Nations Unies (ONU) au sein d'établissements de santé dans 10 États du Soudan du Sud (30 sages-femmes internationale et 15 nationaux). Les sages-femmes de l'ONU effectuent environ 150 000 accouchements dans des conditions sécuritaires et accompagnent plus de 1,000 étudiants sages-femmes et étudiants en soins infirmiers qui poursuivent leur formation au sein des instituts de formation en santé au Soudan du Sud qui bénéficient d'un soutien du Canada. Le projet s'inscrit dans l'engagement du Canada à l'égard de la santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants.

This project aims to increase ...the survival of mothers, newborns and children by bringing life-saving health services directly to 350,000 people in 609 remote communities in Warrap State. These services are brought to communities using community volunteers, and more complicated cases referred to the nearest primary health care centres.Some project activities include: (i) staffing and equipping four mobile outreach clinics; (ii) training 1,511 community health volunteers in health promotion (breastfeeding, better nutrition, vaccinations, etc.); (iii) providing micronutrients to improve nutrition; (iv) delivering life-saving interventions for malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia to children under five, including distributing 116,000 insecticide-treated anti-malaria bed nets; (v) reducing the incidence of water-borne diseases by building and managing 170 safe drinking water-points and 5,000 household latrines, and; (vi) capacity building of the Warrap Ministry of Health and training of the South Sudan Red Cross to train and supervise volunteers and collaborate with the Ministry of Health.This project contributes to Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment./ Ce projet a pour objet d'améliorer la survie des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants en offrant des services de santé essentiels directement à 350 000 personnes dans 609 collectivités éloignées de l'État de Warrap. Ces services sont offerts aux collectivités en utilisant principalement des bénévoles dans les collectivités; les cas plus compliqués observés par les équipes sont dirigés vers les centres de soins de santé primaires les plus près.Parmi les activités du projet : i) doter en personnel et en matériel quatre cliniques mobiles; ii) former 1 511 bénévoles en matière de santé communautaire chargés de la promotion de la santé (allaitement, meilleure nutrition, vaccins, etc.); iii) fournir des micronutriments pour améliorer la nutrition; iv) offrir des traitements vitaux contre le paludisme, la diarrhée et la pneumonie aux enfants de moins de cinq ans, y compris distribuer 116 000 moustiquaires de lit antipaludiques imprégnées d'insecticides; v) réduire l'incidence des maladies d'origine hydrique en construisant et en gérant 170 points d'eau potable et 5 000 latrines; vi) renforcement des capacités de Ministère de Santé du Warrap et formation de la Croix Rouge du Soudan du Sud pour former et superviser les bénévoles et collaborer avec le Minstère de Santé.Ce projet contribue à l'engagement du Canada en matière de santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants.
