|
The objective of the USAID App...lying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project is to improve the quality and outcomes of health care and other services by enabling host country providers and managers to apply the science of improvement. The project seeks to build the capacity of host country service delivery organizations in USAID-assisted countries to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, client-centeredness, safety, accessibility, and equity of the health and family services they provide. USAID ASSIST also seeks to institutionalize the capacity to improve through competency development at the pre- and in-service levels as well as engaging with host country governments at the policy level.

MPI- G8 Investment Support Pro...gram
more
|
The USAID Investment Support P...rogram (ISP) serves as the keystone award for USAID's efforts to provide a full range of financial and investment services to potential investors; private sector actors; host government organizations; USAID field missions throughout the world; and USAID geographic and pillar bureaus. This activity will focus on mobilizing private sector capital towards opportunities that can generate an economic and social impact. This program is global in scope, with potential activities in any country and/or region where USAID operates. It is also open to engaging in any economic sector, in support of current and future Agency priorities. It is anticipated that at least 50% of this program's funding will be dedicated to agriculture activities in support of the Feed the Future Initiative.

MATERNAL AND CHILD SURVIVAL PR...OGRAM (MCSP - FORMERLY RMNCH)
more
|
Maternal and Child Survival Pr...ogram (MCSP - formerly RMNCH)
more
|
The United States Agency for I...nternational Developments (USAID) Bureau for Global Healths flagship Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) focuses on 25 high-priority countries with the ultimate goal of preventing child and maternal deaths. The Program is introducing and supporting high-impact, sustainable reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) interventions in partnership with ministries of health and other partners. MCSP places a greater emphasis on key cross-cutting issues such as innovation, e/mHealth, equity, quality, gender, public-private partnerships and involvement of civil society, community approaches, health systems strengthening, and behavior change interventions. While maintaining a focus on technical, high-impact interventions; the Program works toward sustainable scale-up to include the health systems that deliver these interventions. In addition to contributing to high-level technical and policy dialogue at the global level, the Program provides tailored technical assistance to help countries meet specific priorities and contextual needs of local RMNCH programs.

These funds will be used to de...sign and test an approach to improving program effectiveness using a series of rapid, short-term tests or analyses to provide decision makers with timely and actionable evidence o whether operational variatons can improve program outcomes cost effectively. By embedding compressed feedback loops into ongoing program implementation rather than at the end of program implementation, the Rapid Feedback approach offers results geared at program improvements, in constrast to traditional evaluation approaches.

Peace Corps Ending Preventable... Child and Maternal Deaths (EPCMD) IAA
more

Funds will be used to support ...small grants that Peace Corps volunteers can access to implement malaria, maternal and child health and family planning-related projects, including supporting education and communication activities that promote family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), birth spacing, antenatal care, and treatment-seeking; and promoting community activities to expand access to contraceptives and FP services. The Interagency Agreement (IAA) with Peace Corps allows USAID to access technical assistance from Peace Corps, recognizing the unique and meaningful contribution Volunteers make in remote locations all over the world. The overarching goal of the partnership is to reduce maternal, newborn and child mortality. It is centered on the promotion of key accelerator behaviors selected because they have low uptake yet profoundly impact a major cause of child and/or maternal mortality. In order to achieve progress toward this goal, Peace Corps and USAID have identified collaborative opportunities and mechanisms that can be leveraged to support and strengthen in-country projects and activities, specifically around individual and community behavior change interventions for newborn, child and maternal health..

The purpose of the Accelerate ...Task Order is to enhance USAIDs ability to carry out effective, evidence-based behavior change programming in the highestpriority health areas that affect the main causes of preventable child and maternal mortality in EPCMD priority countries. Task Order 2's overarching Strategic Objective is to identify, apply and diffuse new evidence-based behavior change practices and interventions. Task Order 2 is not to develop and test new social and behavior changes methods and approaches but rather to identify and apply innovative and existing social and behavior change methods and approaches, which may be new to USAID and/or the field of international health, resulting in notably improved health impact and measurement.

BREAKTHROUGH-ACTION
|
Breakthrough-ACTION
|
Breakthrough-ACTION will use s...tate-of-the-art, evidence-based tools to encourage people in developing countries to adopt healthy behaviors, from using modern contraceptive methods to sleeping under bed nets to being tested for HIV. Much of the work will harness the power of communication - from mass media campaigns to TV and radio dramas to simple posters in a health clinic - to inspire long-lasting change. The project will also take advantage of other behavioral science approaches such as behavioral economics and human-centered design to improve programs. The program - which builds on a prior five-year, 31-country project called the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) - is expected to be double the size. It will be led by CCP who will partner with Save the Children, ideas42, ThinkPlace Kenya and Camber Collective. Breakthrough-ACTION will also be supported in the field by ActionSprout, the International Center for Research on Women and Human Network International. CCP is based at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

RAJASTHAN MATERNAL AND NEW-BOR...N HEALTH (MNH) IMPACT BOND
more
|
Rajasthan Maternal and New-bor...n Health (MNH) Impact Bond
more
|
The Rajasthan Maternal and New...-born Health (MNH) Impact Bond is an innovative results-based financing mechanism that will use private investor capital to fund interventions aimed at improving maternal and new-born health in the state of Rajasthan, India. Specifically, the Development Impact Bond (DIB) will support the preparation for accreditation to national standards of private sector small health-care organizations (SHCOs) in Rajasthan. Achievement of the accreditation will result in better quality care, and in turn this is expected to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality. The DIB aims to prepare at least 360 SHCOs to apply for a combined quality certification from the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) and the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).

Accelerating Saving Lives at B...irth (SL@B)
more

Accelerating Saving Lives at B...irth (SL@B) is an accelerator program that seeks to increase the scale, sustainability, and effectiveness of promising innovations in the Saving Lives at Birth Portfolio - with the overarching goal of improving maternal and newborn health (MNH) outcomes across the globe. Accelerating SL@B innovators strive to first identify and fill gaps left by health systems; working to improve health outcomes that occur before and in the 48 hours after birth, the period when the majority of maternal and newborn deaths occur. The Accelerating SL@B program seeks to help these innovations reach scale through ongoing, individualized coaching and mentoring provided by a team of experts in the innovation and global health spheres. All of the support activities for Accelerating SL@B participants aim to help innovators make progress toward achieving scalability and sustainability. Direct innovator support includes: Coaching from program implementers and other experts in the field of MNH innovation; Tools and resources (i.e. tools that help identify target audience for communication and to develop commercialization plans); In-person events, including one annual workshop and one annual showcase; and Virtual support activities (i.e. webinars and peer community groups).
