MATERNAL AND CHILD SURVIVAL PR...OGRAM (MCSP - FORMERLY RMNCH)
more
|
Maternal and Child Survival Pr...ogram (MCSP - formerly RMNCH)
more
|
The United States Agency for I...nternational Development's (USAID) Bureau for Global Health's flagship Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) focuses on 25 high-priority countries with the ultimate goal of preventing child and maternal deaths. The Program is introducing and supporting high-impact, sustainable reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) interventions in partnership with ministries of health and other partners. MCSP places a greater emphasis on key cross-cutting issues such as innovation, e/mHealth, equity, quality, gender, public-private partnerships and involvement of civil society, community approaches, health systems strengthening, and behavior change interventions. While maintaining a focus on technical, high-impact interventions; the Program works toward sustainable scale-up to include the health systems that deliver these interventions. In addition to contributing to high-level technical and policy dialogue at the global level, the Program provides tailored technical assistance to help countries meet specific priorities and contextual needs of local RMNCH programs.

The five-year, $600 million MC...C compact with Indonesia's three projects are expected to increase household income and increase productivity through better health and nutrition, sustainable land and energy management, and modernized government procurement. - The $131.5 million Community-Based Health and Nutrition to Reduce Stunting Project—part of the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s five-year, $600 million compact with Indonesia— aims to reduce and prevent low birth weight and childhood stunting and malnourishment of children in project areas, and to increase household income through cost savings, productivity growth and higher lifetime earnings. The project will target about 7,000 villages in provinces where rates of stunting and low birth weight in infants and children up to 2 years old are higher than national averages. To meet the increased demand for health services generated by the block grants, the project increases the ability of the health system to supply quality services by training health workers in infant and young child feeding, growth monitoring, and sanitation. This is complemented by a national mass media and behavior change communication campaign focused on improving sanitation and child feeding practices.

The -Supply Side Activity- con...sists of the financing of training to Service Providers, sanitation and hygiene activities, provision of multiple micronutrient packets, materials to measure children's height, and other incentives, as well as private sector interventions. MCC Funding will support the creation of an enhanced training program to all Service Providers in the designated project areas, as well as enhanced training for facilitators (the -Training Program-). With respect to the facilitators, the purpose of the Training Program is to redirect the choice of activities to be financed under the Community Projects Activity to encourage a focus on stunting reduction and related interventions such as feeding practices, training regarding height and weight measurement, diet quality and micronutrients, and sanitation behavior change. The Training Program is also aimed at strengthening women's empowerment and increasing fathers' role in health interventions for target beneficiaries. MCC Funding will be used by the Government, through MCA-Indonesia, to make one or more grants for the purpose of leveraging private sector responses to community and family needs for improved mothers' and infants' nutrition and community sanitation.

|

Afya County and National Suppo...rt Program will contribute to the attainment of Kenya's health goals and ultimately the SDGs by contributing to more equitable access to and use of quality health services by the most vulnerable, while enhancing the efficiency of county health systems pertinent to FP/RMNCAH nutrition and WASH. Through a health systems strengthening approach, which includes demand creation interventions aimed at improving health seeking behavior, Afya County and National Support Program will support improved health of women and children, and WASH activities will contribute to Kenya's goals of ending preventable deaths among children and mothers by 2030, meeting 75 percent of the demand for family planning services by 2020, and achieving good nutrition for optimum health of all Kenyans. Science Technology and Innovation Partnership approaches hold significant potential to increase the cost-effectiveness, impact, and sustainability of reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health programs. This activity will utilize an implementation science approach to identify innovative solutions which may include ICT to ensure better service delivery and communication especially for the most vulnerable.

|
USAID Nurture: Improving Commu...nity Sanitation and Nutritional Status in Key Vulnerable Areas in Laos
more
|
The USAID Nurture project help...s improve infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices in -1,000 Days- households (homes with pregnant women and children under two years of age). Communities are also mobilized to conduct their own appraisal and analysis of their nutrition and WASH environment. This process spurs action to address nutrition-related concerns resulting from poor IYCF practices and inadequate WASH approaches, including environmental enteropathy, diarrhea and other conditions that limit nutrient absorption, a major cause of stunting. USAID Nurture additionally leverages private sector relationships to facilitate supplies of products that support uptake of targeted WASH practices. By developing a model of integrated delivery, it also supports the Government of Laos (GoL) as it clarifies roles and responsibilities across national, provincial and district levels to help ensure consistency and ownership of these efforts.

Measure Evaluation IV
|
The Monitoring and Evaluation ...to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE) Evaluation Phase IV Project builds on the decades-long commitment by the Bureau for Global Health to support health sector monitoring and evaluation and country health information system strengthening. The project is designed, in part, to further efforts of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to end preventable child and maternal deaths (EPCMD) by assisting partner governments and institutions to generate and make use of high-quality health systems data that can be used to guide decision-making on effective interventions. The strategic objective of the MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV Project is to enable countries to strengthen national, community, and facility-based systems to generate high quality health information that is used to inform decisions on policies, programs, and resource allocations at all levels of the health system.

|
|

MEASURE EVALUATION IV
|
|
