Social and Behavior Change Com...munication (SBCC) for RMNCH+A (Local)
more
|
Under this mechanism USAID wor...ks with the GOI, state authorities and an alliance of donors to scale up three innovative mHealth services (mobile academy, mobile kunji and kilkari) across the seven empowered action group states as part of the national scale up in a phased manner. Funds will be used to continue support the roll-out of services across these states, designed to increase the uptake of positive health behaviors by pregnant women, mothers of children up to two years old and their families. Roll out will include behavior change messages that address early signs of neonatal infections. The mobile academy is an interactive voice response mobile training course on RMNCH+A for front line health workers (FLWs). The mobile kunji is an audio-visual job aid for FLWs to use in their sessions with families. The kilkari is a direct mHealth messaging service, involving weekly calls with time-sensitive information linked to the woman's stage of pregnancy or the child's age.

URBAN WASH ALLIANCE
|
Urban Wash Alliance
|
Improving the delivery and use... of water and sanitation services to India's rapidly growing urban areas is critical to meeting U.S. Government (USG) health objectives for India, particularly in reducing child mortality. As per the Government of India's (GOI) Ministry of Urban Development (MOUD), in notified slums (slums registered by the municipality), 17 percent of the population is without access to improved sanitation, and in unofficial slums, around 50 percent do not have access to improved sanitation facilities. Program efforts to improve water and sanitation services (WSS) have the greatest beneficial impact on the health and hygiene of women and girls. India's growing population of more than one billion puts enormous strains on the ability of the GOI to provide water, sanitation, and health services. U.S. foreign assistance supports the GOI to address WSS needs of the urban poor. USG priorities include safe water access, basic sanitation, WSS policy and governance, and sustainable financing for water and sanitation services. The USG supports integration of water, sanitation and health programs with other sector development programs, such as the GOI's ambitious city and slum development schemes.

Rajasthan Maternal and New-bor...n Health (MNH) Impact Bond
more
|
The Rajasthan Maternal and New...-born Health (MNH) Impact Bond is an innovative results-based financing mechanism that will use private investor capital to fund interventions aimed at improving maternal and new-born health in the state of Rajasthan, India. Specifically, the Development Impact Bond (DIB) will support the preparation for accreditation to national standards of private sector small health-care organizations (SHCOs) in Rajasthan. Achievement of the accreditation will result in better quality care, and in turn this is expected to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality. The DIB aims to prepare at least 360 SHCOs to apply for a combined quality certification from the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) and the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).

Indonesia Urban Water, Sanitat...ion and Hygiene Penyehatan Lingkungan Untuk Semua (IUWASH PLUS)
more
|
The Indonesia Urban Water, San...itation, and Hygiene (IUWASH) program, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by DAI, made notable progress in addressing these deficiencies at many levels. IUWASH collaborated with public and private sector partners to bring a reliable water supply to more than 2.2 million people. USAIDs IUWASH Penyehatan Lingkungan untuk Semua, or Environmental Health for All (IUWASH PLUS), will build upon this momentum by working to expand access to water and sanitation services to hundreds of thousands of low-income urban households. DAIs approach involves strengthening the urban WASH ecosystem at all levelsfrom basic infrastructure to public policy. The IUWASH PLUS team will work with civil society groups and local governments to mobilize demand for improved drinking water and sanitation services as well as to build capacity of private businesses, utilities, and national-level programs to provide these vital services in a fair and sustainable fashion.

Medicines, Technologies, and P...harmaceutical Services (MTaPS)
more
|
The goal of MTaPS is to enable... low- and middle-income countries to strengthen their pharmaceutical systems to ensure sustainable access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable essential medical products and medicines-related pharmaceutical services. The purpose of MTaPS is to provide pharmaceutical system strengthening assistance for sustained improvements in health system performance, and to advance USAID s goals of Preventing Child and Maternal Deaths, Controlling the HIV/AIDS Epidemic, and Combatting Infectious Disease Threats, as well as expanding essential health coverage. MTaPS works to strengthen essential areas of the pharmaceutical sector, including regulatory capacity, supply chain management, pharmaceutical financing and services, and pharmaceutical management information systems. Within this context, MTaPS addresses USG priority health elements including malaria, HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, neglected tropical diseases, and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). MTaPS focuses on enhancing pharmaceutical services through patient-centered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The MTaPS result areas address the five health systems components (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) as they pertain to pharmaceutical management, informing the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross-cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.

Jordan Healthcare Accreditatio...n Project (JHAP)
more
|
The Jordan Healthcare Accredia...tion Project was designed to improve the health status of all Jordanians. The overall goal of JHAP was to improve the quality and safety of healthcare services in Jordan through accreditation. To address the challenges faced by Jordans weakly regulated health sector, JHAP would assist the Government of Jordan (GOJ) to adopt a regulatory framework for the health sector, through the establishment of national and internationally-recognized healthcare standards and accreditation. The specific objectives of JHAP were to: Strengthen the quality and safety of services in the Jordanian healthcare system through accreditation of facilities and services along the continuum from primary to tertiary care, Establish a national accreditation agency which has the support of key health care sectors and the capability to carry on project activities beyond the life of the project, and Build capacity in both hospitals and PHC centers to carry out accreditation activities, meet standards, and improve the quality and safety of health services and be accredited.

HEALTH SERVICE DELIVERY (HSD)
|
Health Service Delivery (HSD)
|
The Health Service Delivery ac...tivity will increase the quality of maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) care to improve health outcomes in Jordan. USAID will implement an integrated quality improvement approach at the facility level throughout all of Jordan's Governorates, improving health clinics serving 75 percent of Jordan's population. In addition to facility-level interventions, USAID will work with the Ministry of Health to institutionalize improvements in the quality of service delivery and roll out best practices in MNCH care. USAID will improve the physical infrastructure of health centers through minor repairs and renovations. Through the activity, USAID will support Jordan to maintain its previous gains in maternal and neonatal survival, and create opportunities for further integrating family planning with maternal and child health services.

|

Afya County and National Suppo...rt Program
more
|
Afya County and National Suppo...rt Program will contribute to the attainment of Kenyas health goals and ultimately the SDGs by contributing to more equitable access to and use of quality health services by the most vulnerable, while enhancing the efficiency of county health systems pertinent to FP/RMNCAH nutrition and WASH. Through a health systems strengthening approach, which includes demand creation interventions aimed at improving health seeking behavior, Afya County and National Support Program will support improved health of women and children, and WASH activities will contribute to Kenyas goals of ending preventable deaths among children and mothers by 2030, meeting 75 percent of the demand for family planning services by 2020, and achieving good nutrition for optimum health of all Kenyans. Science Technology and Innovation Partnership approaches hold significant potential to increase the cost-effectiveness, impact, and sustainability of reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health programs. This activity will utilize an implementation science approach to identify innovative solutions which may include ICT to ensure better service delivery and communication especially for the most vulnerable.

Ministry of Health and Social ...Welfare FARA follow-on
more
|
A follow-on five-year, Fixed A...mount Reimbursement Agreement (FARA) was signed in January 2016 to support the implementation of the National Health and Social Welfare Policy and Plan 2011-2021. Funds will be used to reimburse the Government of Liberia (GoL) for the cost of implementing the Essential Package of Health Services in three counties covering approximately 1.4 million people. The FARA, a direct Government-to-Government (G2G) assistance model, transfers implementation responsibility to the Ministry of Health (MoH) for ensuring access to quality health services. Under the FARA, USAID will support the GoL to accelerate gains in maternal, neonatal, and child health by further strengthening MoH stewardship and performance management at the central and sub-national levels, and by increasing the use of quality primary health care in USAID focus counties.

The Health Systems Strengtheni...ng Accelerator (HSSA) is a 5-year global project. It will provide a global platform to connect locally-driven health system innovations with global knowledge, accelerate countries' journeys to self-reliant health systems, and improve the institutional architecture for evidence-based and sustainable health system strengthening. This project will address persistent health systems problems at the local and global levels through understanding of problems and root causes, evidence translation, innovation and iterative adaptation, understanding of motivation, incentives, and political dynamics, and focusing on institutionalization and sustainability.
