Asili 2.0 - Scaling for Sustai...nability in the Kivus will provide access to basic sanitation services and enable beneficiaries to obtain access to safe drinking water. The activity uses a sustainable, social enterprise approach, delivering an integrated business model to improve both economic, health, and WASH outcomes including improved access to clean water, income generating activities (i.e agriculture), and quality health care services for populations living in poverty. The activities are on a fee-for-service basis which provides a stream of revenue that will help to fully offset the on-going cost of the provision of clean water, improved hygiene, and administering of quality healthcare services.

USAID/Democratic Republic of t...he Congo (DRC) and the World Bank/DRC are combining resources to support the DRC Ministry of Health's program on Health System Strengthening for Better Maternal and Child Health Results. The objective of this project is to improve the utilization and quality of maternal and child health services in targeted areas. This will be achieved by increasing the availability of a minimum package of services as well as by strengthening the management of the health commodity supply chain. Specifically, USAID's resources will support the institutionalization of performance-based financing and joint solutions with the World Bank to address bottlenecks to health commodities supply chain management.

INTEGRATED HEALTH PROGRAM - DR...C

|
Integrated Health Program - DR...C
more
|
The activity will strengthen t...he capacity of Congolese institutions and communities to deliver quality, integrated health services to improve sustainably the status of the Congolese population, focused on reducing maternal and child deaths. Supporting the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in meeting the basic health needs of women and children will foster more resilient communities, advance the DRC along its pathway to self-reliance, and help protect U.S. national security. This will be achieved by strengthening health systems, governance, and leadership at provincial, health zone, and facility levels, increasing access to quality, integrated health services, and increasing adoption of healthy behaviors, including through improved care seeking of health services. USAID's Integrated Health Program (IHP) will serve approximately 30 million people in nine provinces, covering an estimated 30 percent of the Congolese population. High-impact and innovative approaches will be tested, scaled, and rigorously documented to promote continuous collaboration, learning, and adapting. Cross-sectoral, integrated approaches to strengthening resilience capacities at the individual, household, community, and system levels will drive USAID's IHP in all targeted health zones, each of which will receive its own, tailored support package developed in collaboration with other co-located mechanisms. The activity will provide a platform for linkages with Breakthrough-ACTION, Global TB Challenge, Food for Peace's DFSAs, FtF's Strengthening Value Chains, CARPE, and the integrated youth, education, and governance activities. The mechanism will also contribute to USAID's Global Water Directive by implementing appropriate community-based approaches for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of water sources. Sanitation activities will increase demand for sanitation-related products and services through, for example, community-led total sanitation.

more
|
The goal of MTaPS is to enable... low- and middle-income countries to strengthen their pharmaceutical systems to ensure sustainable access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable essential medical products and medicines-related pharmaceutical services. The purpose of MTaPS is to provide pharmaceutical system strengthening assistance for sustained improvements in health system performance, and to advance USAID s goals of Preventing Child and Maternal Deaths, Controlling the HIV/AIDS Epidemic, and Combatting Infectious Disease Threats, as well as expanding essential health coverage. MTaPS works to strengthen essential areas of the pharmaceutical sector, including regulatory capacity, supply chain management, pharmaceutical financing and services, and pharmaceutical management information systems. Within this context, MTaPS addresses USG priority health elements including malaria, HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, neglected tropical diseases, and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). MTaPS focuses on enhancing pharmaceutical services through patient-centered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The MTaPS result areas address the five health systems components (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) as they pertain to pharmaceutical management, informing the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross-cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.

more
|
The USAID Investment Support P...rogram (ISP) serves as the keystone award for USAID's efforts to provide a full range of financial and investment services to potential investors, private sector actors, host government organizations, USAID field missions throughout the world, and USAID geographic and pillar bureaus. This activity will focus on mobilizing private sector capital towards opportunities that can generate an economic and social impact. This program is global in scope, with potential activities in any country and/or region where USAID operates. It is also open to engaging in any economic sector, in support of current and future Agency priorities. It is anticipated that at least 50% of this program's funding will be dedicated to agriculture activities in support of the Feed the Future Initiative.

Accelerating Saving Lives at B...irth (SL@B)
more
|
Accelerating Saving Lives at B...irth (SL@B) is an accelerator program that seeks to increase the scale, sustainability, and effectiveness of promising innovations in the Saving Lives at Birth Portfolio - with the overarching goal of improving maternal and newborn health (MNH) outcomes across the globe. Accelerating SL@B innovators strive to first identify and fill gaps left by health systems, working to improve health outcomes that occur before and in the 48 hours after birth, the period when the majority of maternal and newborn deaths occur. The Accelerating SL@B program seeks to help these innovations reach scale through ongoing, individualized coaching and mentoring provided by a team of experts in the innovation and global health spheres. All of the support activities for Accelerating SL@B participants aim to help innovators make progress toward achieving scalability and sustainability. Direct innovator support includes: Coaching from program implementers and other experts in the field of MNH innovation, Tools and resources (i.e. tools that help identify target audience for communication and to develop commercialization plans), In-person events, including one annual workshop and one annual showcase, and Virtual support activities (i.e. webinars and peer community groups).
