Agir pour la Planification Fam...iliale (AGIR-PF) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
Agir pour la Planification Fam...iliale (AgirPF) is designed to expand womens access to and use of family planning services in five West African countries: Burkina Faso, Cte dIvoire, Mauritania, Niger, and Togo. By expanding access to, strengthening demand for, and improving the quality of family planning services, AgirPF will increase informed decision making about family planning and broaden voluntary use. Through our partnerships at the local and national government levels, as well as with our nongovernmental organization partners, we will provide a wide range of family planning services, including integrating family planning with maternal, neonatal, child health services, and services for youth and men.- See more at: http://www.engenderhealth.org/our-work/major-projects/agir-pf.php#sthash.rERNH0gt.dpuf

|
Resilience and Economic Growth... in the Sahel - Enhanced Resilience - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The Resilience and Economic Gr...owth in the Sahel - Enhanced Resilience (REGIS-ER) aims to increase the resilience of chronically vulnerable people, households, communities and systems in targeted agro-pastoral and marginal agriculture livelihood zones in Niger and Burkina Faso. Expected, topline results in targeted geographies are: Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM) rates reduced from near 15% to < 10% prevalence; the depth of poverty amongst poor households reduced by 20%; the prevalence of severely/moderately hungry households reduced by 20%; and the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance during a drought of 2011 magnitude reduced by 375,000. With FY 2014 funds, REGIS-ER will: - Facilitate the diversification of economic opportunities, intensification through increased crop and livestock productivity and the development of high potential crop and livestock value chains, and improved access to financial services. - Support the development and implementation of integrated natural resource, conflict, and disaster risk management plans. REGIS-ER will also build the capacity of the government (at all levels) to coordinate these and other resilience efforts. - Bolster improved access to potable water and improved health and nutrition practices, including the consumption of nutritious foods, and the demand for and use of health services.

Systems for Improved Access to... Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
SIAPS focuses on enhancing pha...rmaceutical services through patientcentered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The SIAPS goal is to support the achievement of improved and sustained health outcomes by applying a systems strengthening approach consistent with the Global Health Initiative (GHI) principles. The SIAPS result areas address the intersections of five health systems components as they pertain to pharmaceutical services (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) in the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.

The Health Policy Project (HPP...) works to strengthen developing country national and subnational policy, advocacy, governance, and finance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming. HPP helps countries bring about real change in the health of people and communities. We work with in-country partners to sustain commitment to and ownership of policy responses that support improvements in family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, and maternal health.
more
|
Globally, HPP contributes to i...mproved health outcomes through strengthening the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of health systems in a multi-sectoral context. HPP focuses on the policy aspects of health and other social sectors, often in a multi-sectoral context. We also assist countries to improve health outcomes by addressing barriers due to gender inequalities, socioeconomic status, stigma and discrimination, operational issues, and other factors that prevent people from seeking the health and related social services they need. Throughout our work, we are committed to encouraging in-country capacity for policy, advocacy, governance, and finance. For additional information on HPP see www.healthpolicyproject.com. (https://jobpaw.com/public/detailsjob.php?idjob=5595)
In Haiti, HPP has been asked to implement the USAID-funded for the Aksyon Kolektif pou Sekirite kont Eksplwatasyon (AKSE) Program which supports a multi-sectoral approach to strengthen the Haitian environment for human rights in general and for vulnerable populations, in particular, children, women, and sexual minorities. AKSE was previously implemented by CARE International. HPP will build on the work of the previous project from March 2014 through at least September 2015, with potential for extension.

Maternal and Child Survival Pr...ogram (MCSP - formerly RMNCH) - Maternal and Child Health
more

MCSP is reducing maternal and ...newborn mortality and morbidity in Burma by strengthening the midwifery profession. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other partners, we promote best practices in maternal and newborn health care, and provide capacity building support to the Myanmar Nurses Midwives Association. We focus on evidence-based, high-quality interventions to reduce the leading drivers of maternal mortality in the country: postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, and sepsis. MCSP also addresses the major causes of newborn death through improved neonatal resuscitation, prevention and management of pre-term birth, care for preterm/low birth weight newborns, and identification and management of newborn infections. And we work with the MOH to provide national technical assistance for malaria in pregnancy and integrated community case management.

Diagnosis and Management of Se...vere Febrile Illness: Tibu Homa - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
This project is reducing morbi...dity and mortality among children under five from severe febrile illness. Severe febrile illness is characterized by the sudden onset of fever and may accompany such diseases as malaria, pneumonia, and diarrhea the leading causes of death among this age group. Under the Swahili name Tibu Homa, meaning Treat Fever, the project is helping to increase the availability of and accessibility to fundamental, facility-based curative and preventive child health services; ensure the sustainability of these services; and increase linkages between health facilities and their communities to promote healthy behaviors, thereby increasing parents knowledge and use of child health services.
