UNFPA approach and methodology... of intervention pursues S-GBV prevention through targeting women, girls, boys and men; providing critical lifesaving reproductive health services; utilizing reproductive health services as entry point for S-GBV case detection and response; providing multi-sectoral survivors-centered response services to WGBM survivors, and referrals according to SOPs. Since the onset of the crisis, UNFPA's achievements with the support of ECHO have been critical in defining quality standards of health care and S-GBV response. Coordination,collaboration and integrated efforts with other humanitarian agencies and national authorities is central in UNFPA response in targeting Syrian refugees and Jordanians affected by this crisis. UNFPA is also chairing the reproductive health sub working group and co-chairing the GBV sub working group at national and camp levels, in addition to co-chairing the GBV Information Management System Task Force. The project of the Marie Stope...s International on reproductive health aims to reduce maternal and child mortality in Afghanistan by increasing availability and demand of quality sexual reproductive maternal and child heal services and raising awareness of people on sexual and reproductive health. The project provides various service channels as fixed and mobile clinics satellite clinics and community health workers. Through the project 400 000 people especially women will gain access to above mentioned services particularly in areas where such services are not yet available. The project also raises awareness on sexual and reproductive health of more than 12 000 persons (including youth) by counselling and awareness raising activities. The project will be implemented in the provinces of Jowzjan Kabul Herat and Balkh. The current project is a continuation of Finnish support since 2003. For example in 2012-2013 with the support of Finland to the project 287 506 persons received sexual reproductive maternal and child health services of which 31% family planning 15 700 males received awareness raising through 120 religious leaders 1262 voluntary HIV-testes were carried out and 98 students of Balkh Medical University were trained on family planning. From 2003 to 2014 the overall support of Finland to the project has been 45 MEUR and will be 25 MEUR for 2015-2017.

The development problem of the... proposed project is limited access to SRHR combined with unsustainable use of natural resources. The purpose of the project is to improve SRHR and biodiversity conservation through integrated approach. The project focuses on peoples empowerment capacity building and awareness raising improving livelihood and well-being as well as strengthening partnerships to promote an integrated approach. Capacity building and awareness raising activities will be targeted towards young people and Natural Resource Management communities. Through the trainings it is expected that their understanding of the issues and motivation to promote sustainable development and SRHR are increased. The long-term development objective for the integrated Population Health and Environment (PHE) initiative is Healthy and productive communities where young people can live in harmony with nature and realize their SRHR. This project is a continuation project and forms a third phase of a collaborative PHE project which is implemented through an integrated approach with four partners: Väestöliitto (the Family Federation of Finland) FPAN (the Family Planning Association of Nepal) WWF Finland and WWF Nepal. Cooperation between these partners started already in 2011 and this project builds upon the lessons learned from the first two phases of the project. The project will be directly linked to the PHE initiative of WWF Nepal and WWF Finland supported by the MFA. These two projects will complement each other and there will be close partnership and coordination with WWF Nepal at the central and field levels.Capacity building and awareness raising activities will be targeted towards young people and Natural Resource Management (NRM) communities.

Marie Stopes Society aims at i...mproving urban 18-35-year-old women's access to family planning and reproductive health services by setting up a Well Women clinic in Karachi. The typical client will be a married (or about to be married) woman educated until at least class 10 and with access to resources for services. The duration of the project is 24 months and the total budget is 200000 euros. Pakistan's population is growing in large volumes. The total population (currently at 180 million people) is expected to reach 354 million by 2050. 65% of married women currently use no contraceptive method. Reproductive health information and services remain a taboo and decisions regarding women's health are largely made by other stakeholders such as their husbands or parents in law.

This project is a continuation... of the ongoing project ?Sexual and reproductive health project of the Shipibos? which takes place in Masisea near Pucallpa in four Shipibo villages in Ucayali region in Peru during 2012-2014.Among the Shipibo indigenous communities in the Peruvian jungle there is a lack of understanding about sexual and reproductive health (SRH) leading to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unwanted pregnancies. These communities have little access to SRH services and no information of their legal rights to have these services provided by the Peruvian government.The direct objective of the project is to improve the sexual and reproductive health of the Shipibo population in an culturally appropriate way.In this continuation project (the second phase) the communities will have a more active role in developing public policies advocacy and oversight at the local and regional levels. The delivery of mobile healthcare and educational services created in the first phase (known as the mobile health care model) will be strengthened and an intercultural care protocol developed for replication in other parts of the country. Local and regional authorities will improve their capacity to design culturally relevant health policies. Parallel to these proposed activities mobile SRH service visits will continue in the four project communities

Long-running conflict has dest...royed the infrastructure of the Somali state and the country has one of the worst health indicators in the world. The high-risk groups are 2.4 million children under age 5 and more than 3 million women of child-bearing age. According to WHO the maternal mortality ratio is 732 per 100 000 live births although most of the maternal deaths would be preventable. Rebuilding the health sector is challenged by a shortage of professional staff financial resources and effective governance and NGOs have played a key role in providing with these services. African Care?s Maternity Clinic and Training project has since its start in 2012 supported the development of the FinSom maternity clinic together with the local partner VMDSO. Results show that the service of the clinic has decreased maternal mortality rate prevalence of tetanus raised awareness about exclusive breast feeding and FGM. The clinic is well-known in Afgoye and surrounding areas and a vital source of quality maternal health care for both expectant mothers and the community. Hence the maternal health care services are continued also in the continuation phase of the project.The project at hand seeks to further enhance the capacity and services of the partner and the clinic so that eventually maternal health services could be provided without development cooperation funding. This is done by investing in the education and training of the VMDSO staff and health workers and monitoring the long-term impact of the trainings. Simultaneously invaluable information on the key challenges and development needs will be mapped out and used for future trainings. Also the support of the sexual violence victims will be intensified. It will be expanded to an in-person counselling in addition to the telephone support. Open-access seminars and family counselling are likewise continued and further intensified. Seminars about gender equality family planning and gender-based violence work to dismantle unequal social structures through open dialogue. Project's beneficiaries are women in labour children victims of sexual violence clinic?s personnel and partner organization VMDSO.

The project Improving the repr...oductive health and quality of life of girls and women in the Eastern Province of Zambia a continuation of the 2011-2013 project focuses on a broad scale of problems related to reproductive and maternal health. This rights-based project focuses on preventing teenage pregnancies and early marriages but also helping teens who are already pregnant.The project aims to prevent teen pregnancies and early marriages which continue to be serious problems in the Eastern Province of Zambia. The project aims at addressing these by targeting the youth who are in school and educating them using a participatory Theatre for Community Action. Out of school youths are reached through focus group discussions conducted by community facilitators and will be taught about the importance of education. Parents and traditional leaders will also be educated and informed on the law against early marriages their disadvantages for youths and the importance of keeping girls in school. The project aim is to reduce the number of school dropouts in accordance with the government re-entry policy that allows young mothers to return to school.The project also focuses on aiding young mothers and pregnant teenagers in rural villages. Young mothers and pregnant teenagers are identified either by community volunteers from Safe Motherhood Action Groups or through focus group discussions conducted by community facilitators. They are informed about the school re-entry policy importance of education available options and attending health services. They will receive life skills training and information on their reproductive rights.The project will complement government efforts by forming Safe Motherhood Action Groups in project areas. The Groups will be provided with bicycle ambulances and they will educate pregnant women and new mothers about reproductive health. Pregnant women will be educated on the importance of attending health services and provided with information outside clinics as well. Safer deliveries in clinics are encouraged. Postnatal clinic visits are also encouraged for maternal and new-born health. These issues are addressed in interactive community based drama sessions and focus group discussions.

The Tana North Integrated Mate...rnal and Child Health (MCH) Project will address the MCH needs and policy targets by contributing to the expansion of Community Health Strategy (CHS) in the hard to reach and marginalised populations living within Tana North District. It will achieve this through empowerment of communities to use and demand for MCH and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) related services and simultaneously enhance the capacity of Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation (MoPHS) to attend to the needs of the communities. The intervention will incorporate community participation in addressing various health needs at the community level informed by the CHS with particular emphasis on preventive and promotive community health. It will be complimented by the experience and capacity of Red Cross through its community-based approach Community Based Health and First Aid (CBHFA) volunteer management and health promotion tools that will enable the community ownership hence support project sustainability. By strengthening the preventive measures the community will be able to divert their resources previously used in health care to other priority areas thereby potentially reducing the poverty levels. In addition the operational research will provide evidence on the role of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) in health care provision at level 12 and 3 in the recently devolved government system.

This project aims to reduce th...e number of deaths among mothers newborns and young children by improving the health services in two Administration Units (El Obeid & Abu Haraz) Shiekan locality North Kordofan State -Sudan. It supports North Kordofan State MOH in achieving national targets for reducing child mortality and improving maternal health (Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5). The project is designed to provide women and children with greater access to good-quality and reliable health services. It helps to ensure that targeted health facilities offer essential health services for women and children; it provides training for health care providers health promoters and village midwives in emergency care for pregnant women new mothers newborn babies and under five children; and also contribute in improving the ability of men and women in these communities to recognize prevent and respond to maternal and child health issues. The project includes: Capacity Building program to improve the quality of primary health care services and raise awareness about potential health issues; Provision of medical equipment for Six delivery rooms at six existing health Centers; improvement of sanitation facilities in one district hospital; and Conduction of universal birth registration campaign in the proposed project areas. This project is expected to benefit 7848 pregnant women 7233 women of childbearing age and 6000 under five children (girls and boys).

Hiil hooyo is a multi-actor jo...int project addressing maternal healthcare in Somaliland and Puntland. The key development problem is high maternal mortality having multiple negative effects. Maternal mortality rate in the project areas is one of the highest in the world. The project seeks to enhance women's right and the right of persons with disabilities to maternal healthcare. The project started in 2017 with a pilot phase and the new phase aims to make the results sustainable.The main outcomes are:1. Skills and motivation of healthcare workers improved2. Number of mothers and children attending MCHs increased3. Attendance and accessibility of persons with disabilities to MCHs increased4. Partner universities able to conduct independently e-learning program in maternal healthcare and students benefitted from the developed materialThe main outputs and activities include:- 240 healthcare workers passed in-service training on maternal healthcare, 4 trainings- 10 000 persons reached by awareness raising programs, village meetings school classes media campaigns home visits fathers? clubs- 460 persons trained on the rights of persons with disabilities, training of trainers workshops- 120 university students passed e-learning program in maternal healthcare teachers trained and partner universities networking, e-course for students on-line training for teachers joint meetingsThe project is implemented in 10 districts in 3 areas. For the implementation the FSN has 6 NGO partners of which 3 its member organizations in Finland and 5 university partners of which 2 (Diak and Xamk) in Finland. In addition the Disability Partnership Finland (DPF) offers expertize for disability issues. The innovative cooperative model enforces the civil society and enhances stability.The beneficiaries of the project include healthcare workers pregnant and breastfeeding mothers with their families persons with disabilities university lecturers and students students in secondary schools the NGO partners and indirectly communities in general in the project areas with an estimated population of 15 million.

The country programme aims to achieve this through four impact areas: 1) Sexual and reproductive health, 2) Adolescents and youth, 3) Gender equality and women empowerment, and 4) Population dynamics.Finland has supported the implementation of the UNFPA Somalia country programme with 12 million Euros during the years 2017-2020. Planned funding for the new country programme is 25 million Euros in total for the years 2021-2025.
