Sustaining Technical and Analy...tic Resources (STAR)
more
|
STAR improves the effectivenes...s of global health programs worldwide by developing and strengthening the capacity of global health professionals by placing fellows and interns in external institutions, primarily in USAID-supported countries, and in USAID in partnership with academic and other institutions. STAR strengthens the technical and analytic professional cadre of human resources for global health by partnering with organizations of higher learning, development research, and/or health professional associations. Leveraging the expertise, resources, and partnerships of academic institutions and many other types of organizations, STAR contributes to strengthening institutions in developing countries that provide technical leadership and improve systems that promote technical collaboration across the global health community. STAR strengthens the pool of health professionals globally through field experience with developing country organizations, provides opportunities to diverse health professionals who mirror the populations USAID serves globally to build their skills and gain exposure to international health programs, and improves collaborative systems and long-term, sustainable partnerships for open exchange and utilization of information, knowledge, and educational resources to promote technical excellence and learning.

more
|
Tuberculosis Implementation Fr...amework Agreement (TIFA)
more
|
TIFA will improve government c...apacity and commitment, leverage domestic resources to maximize impact and sustain results as we work together to achieve the global target of treating 40 million people with TB by 2022. As USAID looks forward to the day when foreign assistance for TB is no longer necessary, TIFA will emphasize host government ownership and accountability of the TB programs in priority countries. TIFA recipients will create agreements with local government entities to build organizational and technical capacity to improve TB services and to sustain results long after the life of the project. Through TIFA, host governments will be empowered to implement locally-generated, context-specific solutions, focus on the scale- up of new technologies with proven results to improve TB case-detection and treatment outcomes, and utilize new approaches to increase local ownership. Newly created partnerships with local government entities will identify quantifiable milestones and targets in order to strengthen accountability of local governments and increase ownership of their TB program. TIFA s primary objectives include: ? Developing efficient mechanisms for support to national TB programs and local government entities to effectively implement National TB Strategic Plans, ? Empowering local government entities to become more self-reliant, and ? Leveraging and advocating for additional domestic resources for TB at all levels among local government entities.

Knowledge SUCCESS
|
Knowledge SUCCESS (Strengtheni...ng Use, Capacity, Collaboration, Exchange, Synthesis, and Sharing) is a five-year (2019-2024), $35 million global project funded by USAID s Office for Population and Reproductive Health. Knowledge SUCCESS champions the use of knowledge management, or the process of collecting and curating knowledge and connecting people to it so they can act effectively, within the global family planning and reproductive health community. The project serves a wide range of audiences, however, the main audience is family planning implementers those professionals who are responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating family planning programs and services and the project's mandate is to meet their knowledge needs: by making critical, high-quality information available and accessible, by enabling routine, meaningful sharing of knowledge, and by building lasting capacity for collaboration, learning, and adaptation. The project is led by the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) in partnership with Amref Health Africa, The Busara Center for Behavioral Economics, and FHI 360. Our team combines extensive knowledge management and family planning expertise with emerging behavioral science approaches and a global and regional reach. Knowledge SUCCESS builds on the legacy of USAID s Knowledge for Health (K4Health) Project and its popular products and services.

Health Systems for Tuberculosi...s (HS4TB)
more
|
Health Systems for Tuberculosi...s (HS4TB) is a five-year contract that will leverage MSHs successful leadership development programs to improve local governance and management skills in a TB Sector Transformation Program. HS4TB will focus on health systems priorities that most directly support achievement of TB outcomes, with a focus on health financing and governance in 23 USAID priority countries. The project will help countries increase domestic financing, use key TB resources more efficiently, build in-country technical and managerial competence and leadership, and support policy formation and dissemination. HS4TB will also prepare local organizations to transition into the role of primary technical assistance providers and recipients of direct donor support and will engage marginalized groups, including women and youth, in co-creating activities with national TB programs, professional associations, civil society, and other stakeholders.

Systems for Improved Access to... Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS)
more
|
SIAPS focuses on enhancing pha...rmaceutical services through patientcentered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The SIAPS goal is to support the achievement of improved and sustained health outcomes by applying a systems strengthening approach consistent with the Global Health Initiative (GHI) principles. The SIAPS result areas address the intersections of five health systems components as they pertain to pharmaceutical services (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) in the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.
more
|
From 2011 to 2018, the USAID-f...unded Systems for Improved Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) Program worked to ensure equitable, affordable access to safe, quality-assured medicines and related services in 46 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Oceania.
The SIAPS pharmaceutical systems strengthening approach included local counterparts and partners in addressing five interrelated health system functions—governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery—with a focus on medicines.
The program tackled systemic deficiencies, going beyond the selection, procurement, and distribution of pharmaceutical products to include dispensing and supplying pharmaceuticals to individuals and providing medication-related information and counseling. Treatment focused on critical health areas, such as family planning, HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, tuberculosis, and neglected tropical diseases and, more recently, Ebola.

Digital Square works to create... a future where governments and decision-makers can access the information they need to ensure better health outcomes for all. The activity aims to perpetuate the pilot programs by aligning donors and the digital community around shared goals, supporting technical capacity in-country, coordinating and aligning investments around government priorities to achieve lasting impact, and promoting the reuse and adaptation of existing open-source digital health solutions. In Bangladesh, the activity will use FY17 funds to continue providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to maintain the operations of the digitized supply chain management systems developed by USAID in the last six years. Digital Square will work with a local Information Technology firm to assist MoHFW to maintain and use the system for procurement planning..

Private Health Sector Project ...(PHSP)
more
|
PHSP will provide technical as...sistance to 203 private for-profit health facilities to provide high-impact primary health services. Tuberculosis (TB) and malaria funds will expand and enhance PPM-DOTS and malaria treatment, and MCH/FP/RH funds will be used to ensure better access and quality of maternal and child health and FP/RH services in the urban setting. USAID will complete a rapid assessment to investigate the potential for various levels of private facilities to deliver MCH services, increase access to integrated FP services, initiate youth friendly FP services and expand diagnosis and treatment for TB. The activity will also ensure the flow of TB, malaria and FP commodities to private facilities and ensure private facilities are included as part of the integrated supportive supervision led by the Regional Health Bureaus to improve health services.

Through the USAID Health Finan...cing Improvement Program, Abt and its consortium partners strengthen HCF functions and systems in Ethiopia, and increase local capacities that facilitate sustainable and continuous reform implementation. Our efforts focus on facilitating the nationwide rollout and institutionalization of first-generation reforms (such as health facility boards and revenue retention and utilization) that increase domestic resources for health and improve governance. Were also refining and scaling-up second-generation reforms, including community-based health insurance (CBHI), and exploring new third-generation interventions to further enhance HCF reforms.

|

|
