• Designated as the Executiv...e Agent for Department of Defense (DoD) HIV support for foreign militaries in 2001, DHAPP also is the DoD implementing agency for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), established in 2003. In coordination with the Department of State, US Agency for International Development, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Peace Corps, the PEPFAR team works together to mitigate the HIV pandemic and stop the spread of the AIDS virus.
The DHAPP Management Office at NHRC provides day-to-day direction along with operational and functional oversight of the DoD effort. DHAPP coordinates activities with the Department of State Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and implements the DoD programs in the PEPFAR initiative. DHAPP also prepares and delivers periodic reports and assessments to the Assistance Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and/or designated Deputy Assistant of Secretary Defense (DASD).
In fiscal year 2013, DHAPP trained over 7,000 health care workers to provide HIV clinical services; reached over 740,000 military and family members with comprehensive prevention messages; 630,000 military and family members were counseled and tested for HIV; 55,000 pregnant women knew their HIV status based on testing and counseling services; and 200 new laboratories were equipped and supported for HIV testing and diagnostics.

The Strengthening Health Outco...mes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project is USAIDs flagship initiative in private sector health. • Designated as the Executiv...e Agent for Department of Defense (DoD) HIV support for foreign militaries in 2001, DHAPP also is the DoD implementing agency for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), established in 2003. In coordination with the Department of State, US Agency for International Development, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Peace Corps, the PEPFAR team works together to mitigate the HIV pandemic and stop the spread of the AIDS virus.
The DHAPP Management Office at NHRC provides day-to-day direction along with operational and functional oversight of the DoD effort. DHAPP coordinates activities with the Department of State Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and implements the DoD programs in the PEPFAR initiative. DHAPP also prepares and delivers periodic reports and assessments to the Assistance Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and/or designated Deputy Assistant of Secretary Defense (DASD).
In fiscal year 2013, DHAPP trained over 7,000 health care workers to provide HIV clinical services; reached over 740,000 military and family members with comprehensive prevention messages; 630,000 military and family members were counseled and tested for HIV; 55,000 pregnant women knew their HIV status based on testing and counseling services; and 200 new laboratories were equipped and supported for HIV testing and diagnostics.

The Integrated Health Project ...(IHP) is a 5-year project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). IHP works to create better conditions for, and increase the availability and use of high-impact services, products, and practices. The project works in four provinces with 80 target health zones. Areas of focus are: family planning; maternal, newborn, and child health; nutrition, malaria, and tuberculosis; neglected tropical disease; HIV & AIDS; and water, sanitation, and hygiene.

The Roads to a Healthy Future ...(ROADS II) project aims to reduce potential HIV transmission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) among people living in and traveling along the transport corridors that link artisanal and industrial mining communities in East and Southern Africa. The program complements current work supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development in Katanga and Orientale provinces by introducing a package of HIV services that are carefully tailored to the needs of at-risk populations, including truck drivers, artisanal miners, female sex workers, girls and young women engaged in transactional sex and other people who are vulnerable to infection.

Supply Chain Management System... (SCMS) is a multi-billion dollar PEPFAR Program managed by USAID and implemented by Partnership for Supply Chain Management (PfSCM). • Designated as the Executiv...e Agent for Department of Defense (DoD) HIV support for foreign militaries in 2001, DHAPP also is the DoD implementing agency for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), established in 2003. In coordination with the Department of State, US Agency for International Development, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Peace Corps, the PEPFAR team works together to mitigate the HIV pandemic and stop the spread of the AIDS virus.
The DHAPP Management Office at NHRC provides day-to-day direction along with operational and functional oversight of the DoD effort. DHAPP coordinates activities with the Department of State Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and implements the DoD programs in the PEPFAR initiative. DHAPP also prepares and delivers periodic reports and assessments to the Assistance Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and/or designated Deputy Assistant of Secretary Defense (DASD).
In fiscal year 2013, DHAPP trained over 7,000 health care workers to provide HIV clinical services; reached over 740,000 military and family members with comprehensive prevention messages; 630,000 military and family members were counseled and tested for HIV; 55,000 pregnant women knew their HIV status based on testing and counseling services; and 200 new laboratories were equipped and supported for HIV testing and diagnostics.
