• Designated as the Executiv...e Agent for Department of Defense (DoD) HIV support for foreign militaries in 2001, DHAPP also is the DoD implementing agency for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), established in 2003. In coordination with the Department of State, US Agency for International Development, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Peace Corps, the PEPFAR team works together to mitigate the HIV pandemic and stop the spread of the AIDS virus.
The DHAPP Management Office at NHRC provides day-to-day direction along with operational and functional oversight of the DoD effort. DHAPP coordinates activities with the Department of State Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and implements the DoD programs in the PEPFAR initiative. DHAPP also prepares and delivers periodic reports and assessments to the Assistance Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and/or designated Deputy Assistant of Secretary Defense (DASD).
In fiscal year 2013, DHAPP trained over 7,000 health care workers to provide HIV clinical services; reached over 740,000 military and family members with comprehensive prevention messages; 630,000 military and family members were counseled and tested for HIV; 55,000 pregnant women knew their HIV status based on testing and counseling services; and 200 new laboratories were equipped and supported for HIV testing and diagnostics.

Catastrophe Containment and Re...lief Trust (CCR Trust) The objective is to reduce a country's debt burden as it battles an epidemic of infectious disease, in this case the three Ebola-stricken countries. The IMF lends to low-income countries at zero interest rates through its regular concessional facilities, but that money must be repaid. The purpose of the grants under the CCR Trust is to limit that debt burden, freeing up resources to respond to the crisis rather than having to assign those resources to debt service. The CCR is intended to broaden the situations covered by IMF disaster assistance to include epidemics.

BLC builds the capacity of government and civil society entities in southern Africa and has country-based programs in several countries in southern Africa to implement policies and health services for those infected with, and affected by, HIV and AIDS. The three key program areas which BLC supports include care and support for children made vulnerable by HIV, HIV prevention, and community-based care. The project vision is that by 2015 project partnerswhich include CSOs, governmental and intergovernmental institutions, parastatals, and private sector companiesare stronger, more resilient,and able to support community, national and regional structures to competently respond to HIV and AIDS issues, resulting in improved overall health in the southern African region.

• Designated as the Executiv...e Agent for Department of Defense (DoD) HIV support for foreign militaries in 2001, DHAPP also is the DoD implementing agency for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), established in 2003. In coordination with the Department of State, US Agency for International Development, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Peace Corps, the PEPFAR team works together to mitigate the HIV pandemic and stop the spread of the AIDS virus.
The DHAPP Management Office at NHRC provides day-to-day direction along with operational and functional oversight of the DoD effort. DHAPP coordinates activities with the Department of State Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and implements the DoD programs in the PEPFAR initiative. DHAPP also prepares and delivers periodic reports and assessments to the Assistance Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and/or designated Deputy Assistant of Secretary Defense (DASD).
In fiscal year 2013, DHAPP trained over 7,000 health care workers to provide HIV clinical services; reached over 740,000 military and family members with comprehensive prevention messages; 630,000 military and family members were counseled and tested for HIV; 55,000 pregnant women knew their HIV status based on testing and counseling services; and 200 new laboratories were equipped and supported for HIV testing and diagnostics.

This award contributes to the ...goal of strengthening the overall sustainability, quality, and reach of HIV and AIDS interventions in the region. BLC builds the capacity of government and civil society entities in southern Africa and has country-based programs in several countries in southern Africa to implement policies and health services for those infected with, and affected by, HIV and AIDS. The three key program areas which BLC supports include care and support for children made vulnerable by HIV, HIV prevention, and community-based care. The project vision is that by 2015 project partnerswhich include CSOs, governmental and intergovernmental institutions, parastatals, and private sector companiesare stronger, more resilient,and able to support community, national and regional structures to competently respond to HIV and AIDS issues, resulting in improved overall health in the southern African region.

Supply Chain Management System... (SCMS) is a multi-billion dollar PEPFAR Program managed by USAID and implemented by Partnership for Supply Chain Management (PfSCM). The purpose of SCMS is to ensure the supply of quality essential medicines and other products to people impacted by HIV/AIDS, and to promote sustainable supply chains in partner countries, in collaboration with US agencies and other stakeholders. SCMS supports the rapid scale up of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment by providing an uninterrupted supply of key commodities. CMS is implemented by the Partnership for Supply Chain Management, a non-profit consortium of 13 organizations led by John Snow, Inc. Research & Training Institute (JSI) and Management Sciences forHealth (MSH).

• Designated as the Executiv...e Agent for Department of Defense (DoD) HIV support for foreign militaries in 2001, DHAPP also is the DoD implementing agency for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), established in 2003. In coordination with the Department of State, US Agency for International Development, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Peace Corps, the PEPFAR team works together to mitigate the HIV pandemic and stop the spread of the AIDS virus.
The DHAPP Management Office at NHRC provides day-to-day direction along with operational and functional oversight of the DoD effort. DHAPP coordinates activities with the Department of State Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and implements the DoD programs in the PEPFAR initiative. DHAPP also prepares and delivers periodic reports and assessments to the Assistance Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and/or designated Deputy Assistant of Secretary Defense (DASD).
In fiscal year 2013, DHAPP trained over 7,000 health care workers to provide HIV clinical services; reached over 740,000 military and family members with comprehensive prevention messages; 630,000 military and family members were counseled and tested for HIV; 55,000 pregnant women knew their HIV status based on testing and counseling services; and 200 new laboratories were equipped and supported for HIV testing and diagnostics.
