The Health Policy Project (HPP...) works to strengthen developing country national and subnational policy, advocacy, governance, and finance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming. HPP helps countries bring about real change in the health of people and communities. We work with in-country partners to sustain commitment to and ownership of policy responses that support improvements in family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, and maternal health.

Globally, HPP contributes to i...mproved health outcomes through strengthening the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of health systems in a multi-sectoral context. HPP focuses on the policy aspects of health and other social sectors, often in a multi-sectoral context. We also assist countries to improve health outcomes by addressing barriers due to gender inequalities, socioeconomic status, stigma and discrimination, operational issues, and other factors that prevent people from seeking the health and related social services they need. In Haiti, HPP has been asked to implement the USAID-funded for the Aksyon Kolektif pou Sekirite kont Eksplwatasyon (AKSE) Program which supports a multi-sectoral approach to strengthen the Haitian environment for human rights in general and for vulnerable populations, in particular, children, women, and sexual minorities. AKSE was previously implemented by CARE International. HPP will build on the work of the previous project from March 2014 through at least September 2015, with potential for extension.

MCSP is reducing maternal and ...newborn mortality and morbidity in Burma by strengthening the midwifery profession. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other partners, we promote best practices in maternal and newborn health care, and provide capacity building support to the Myanmar Nurses Midwives Association. We focus on evidence-based, high-quality interventions to reduce the leading drivers of maternal mortality in the country: postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, and sepsis. MCSP also addresses the major causes of newborn death through improved neonatal resuscitation, prevention and management of pre-term birth, care for preterm/low birth weight newborns, and identification and management of newborn infections. And we work with the MOH to provide national technical assistance for malaria in pregnancy and integrated community case management.

The Strengthening Health Outco...mes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project is USAIDs flagship initiative in private sector health. It works to involve nongovernmental organizations and for-profit entities in addressing the many health needs of people in developing countries. SHOPS focuses on increasing availability, improving quality, and expanding coverage of essential health products and services in family planning and reproductive health, maternal and child health, HIV and AIDS, and other health areas through the private sector. Note: Follwoing the May, 2013 termination of USAID activities in Bolivia, the SHOPS project is no longer providing thecnical assistance in Bolivia.

The purpose of the Translating... Research into Action (TRAction) Project is to accelerate the introduction and scale up of approaches and interventions that when implemented in programs will reduce mortality and severe morbidity in women, newborns and young children. There is a preponderance of evidence on the potential impact of specific maternal, neonatal and child health interventions yet the successful implementation and scale-up of these in countries remains a challenge. TRAction will address this knowledge gap by managing research, introduction and evaluation activities on how to effectively deliver, increase utilization, achieve coverage, and scale-up evidence based newborn, child, maternaland integrated MNCH health and nutrition tools, approaches, interventions and policies that are relevant to field programs.

AMPATHplus aims to augment HIV... care and control program and expand AMPATHpluss primary care activities. AMPATH PLUS will be a new phase in which the Moi University, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, and the Ministry of Health facilities work together to improve the health of our catchment area in Kenya. In this new phase, not only will we seek to find, link, treat, and retain all HIV-infected people within our catchment area, but we will also dramatically increase our primary care and chronic disease management services. AMPATH is poised to serve as a model of innovation, ultimately creating knowledge on the best practices that can be shared with other USAID programs, with the Government of Kenya and with healthcare systems throughout the world.

Background: En 2007, l'APEFE ...a terminé son 1er programme quinquennal en crédits non dissociés. Le 2nd programme triennal 2008 - 2010 s' inscrivait dans le cadre des crédits dissociés. Quant au 3ème programme 2011 - 2013, il a été présenté dans la poursuite de son cadre stratégique 2008 - 2013 en tenant compte de la concentration géographique et sectorielle, de la synergie et complémentarité ainsi que la mise en oeuvre de la Plateforme Education. Le programme 2014 - 2016 a été apprécié dans le cadre des procédures de D3 -DGD sur la qualité des partenariats et de l'amélioration des cadres logiques et des indicateurs ainsi qu'une plus grande intégration des thèmes transversaux 'Gender' et 'Environnement' aux différents objectifs et résultats de ce programme. This four year G2G agreement s...upports the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW). This year the agreement will be amended to include additional activities for the Accelerated Action Plan to Reduce Maternal and Neonatal Mortality. Funds support four key activity areas: 1) increasing coverage and access to quality comprehensive and basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care and essential maternal and neonatal health care; 2) improving access to and utilization of quality family planning services; 3) expanding and strengthening outreach and community-based services; and 4) improving management of maternal and neonatal health services at the national and county levels. In FY 2014, MOHSW will implement the following activities under each activity area:1)Improve referral systems, especially in rural areas and strengthen MNCH interventions2)Improve supply chain management at national and county levels3)Implement community-based distribution of family planning commodities4)Strengthen network, training and supervision of community health volunteers5)Implement institutional and policy level reforms to strengthen health systems

In Haiti, HPP has been asked to implement the USAID-funded for the Aksyon Kolektif pou Sekirite kont Eksplwatasyon (AKSE) Program which supports a multi-sectoral approach to strengthen the Haitian environment for human rights in general and for vulnerable populations, in particular, children, women, and sexual minorities. AKSE was previously implemented by CARE International. HPP will build on the work of the previous project from March 2014 through at least September 2015, with potential for extension.

MCSP is reducing maternal and ...newborn mortality and morbidity in Burma by strengthening the midwifery profession. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other partners, we promote best practices in maternal and newborn health care, and provide capacity building support to the Myanmar Nurses Midwives Association. We focus on evidence-based, high-quality interventions to reduce the leading drivers of maternal mortality in the country: postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, and sepsis. MCSP also addresses the major causes of newborn death through improved neonatal resuscitation, prevention and management of pre-term birth, care for preterm/low birth weight newborns, and identification and management of newborn infections. And we work with the MOH to provide national technical assistance for malaria in pregnancy and integrated community case management.

The USAID-funded Madagascar Co...mmunity-Based Integrated Health Project (CBIHP), known locally as MAHEFA, was a five-year health program that provided basic, quality health care to isolated populations in six north and northwestern regions of Madagascar (DIANA, SAVA, Sofia, Menabe, Boeny and Melaky). The program’s overarching goal was to increase the use of proven, community-based interventions and essential products among underserved populations of Madagascar. Activities focused on improving access to and use of an integrated package of maternal, newborn, and child health services, family planning, and improving safe water, hygiene, and sanitation. The program continues to be known for innovative solutions to reaching remote communities, documented improvements in community health, and collaborative work with local NGOs, the Malagasy Ministry of Health, civil society organizations, and community leaders.
