United Republic of Tanzania: Hypertension Fact Sheet

In 2012, 25.7% of adults in Tanzania aged 25–64 had hypertension, affecting approximately 4 million people. However, most remain unaware of their condition or are not receiving treatment, with only 0.1 million achieving blood pressure control. National efforts focus on reducing salt intake and improving access to essential medicines. WHO frameworks guide the prevention and treatment of hypertension by addressing risk factors and strengthening healthcare systems. Despite this progress, further action is required to meet targets and reduce the health impact of hypertension. Accessed on 24/07/2025.
