Kenya Hypertension Fact Sheet

In 2015, 23.7% of Kenyan adults aged 18–69 — around 5.7 million people — had hypertension. However, only 0.2 million of these individuals had their condition under control. Awareness and treatment rates remain low. National policies aim to reduce salt intake and improve access to essential antihypertensive medicines. WHO technical packages (e.g. HEARTS) are guiding efforts to address risk factors and strengthen the detection and management of hypertension. However, accelerated action is needed to reduce the burden and improve outcomes. Accessed on 24/07/2025.
