Knowledge for Health II (K4H-I...I) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The Knowledge for Health (K4He...alth) Project is the flagship health knowledge management project of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The current iteration of the Knowledge for Health (K4Health) Project is the latest in a lineage of reproductive health knowledge-sharing projects which began over 40 years ago. K4Healths focus is on social knowledge management for family planning and reproductive health. The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Healths Center for Communication Programs (JHUCCP) manages the project in partnership with the Global Health Bureau at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). IntraHealth International joins longtime collaborators FHI 360 and Management Sciences for Health as partners with JHUCCP.

Project Cure - Maternal and Ch...ild Health

WHO identified the shortage of... functional medical equipment in low-income countries as a critical barrier to meeting the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The public-private partnership with Project C.U.R.E. will increase USAIDs contribution to health systems strengthening (HSS) in DRC through the provision of quality and customized medical equipment and supplies to healthcare facilities in USAID supported health zones, supporting all sectors of the health program, including TB and FP. Project C.U.R.E. will obtain donations of equipment from medical manufacturers, wholesale suppliers, and hospitals in the United States and will plan the shipments according to the priority needs of the country. Project C.U.R.E. will be compliant with the WHO Guidelines for Equipment Donations and relevant US government policies. USAID anticipates that this investment will contribute to improved quality of care and increased demand for services in USAID supported facilities.

|
Child Survival and Health Gran...ts Program (CSHGP) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The CSHGP facilitates a dynami...c partnership between USAID and private and voluntary organizations (PVOs)/NGOs. Through the CSHGP, USAID leverages the development entrepreneurship and know how of PVOs/NGOs and their local partners for innovative and effective community-oriented programming that sustainably improves maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) outcomes, strengthens local and community health systems, and contributes to reductions in morbidity and mortality. PVOs/NGOs, with their local partners (national and local MOH, local NGOs/CBOs, communities), implement in a range of settings, from remote communities in a single district to multiple districts or a province. Projects address critical health needs of vulnerable populationsand work strategically with a systems approach at the household, community, health facility, and policy levels and strengthens linkages as relevant.

The Timor-Leste Health Improve...ment Project (TL HIP) will support TL in improving the quality and impact of health services. Guided by the vision that health care quality can be significantly improved by applying proven health improvement methods, the TL HIP will assist programs to scale up evidence-based interventions to improve outcomes in Maternal Newborn Child Health, Nutrition, and Family Planning. The project will build on current strategies of the MoH and USAID successes including, Basic Service Package implementation, support to SISCas, assistance with guidelines and protocols, training, development and piloting of job aids( flip charts, flow-charts, instructional videos) and supportive supervision. TL HIP will complement the strengths identified by partner organizations throughout the Ministry of Health system. The project will support the National, District, Sub-district, and community levels, but will primarily be focused at the district level.

Health Policy Plus (HP+) proje...ct - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The purpose of the Health Poli...cy Plus (HP+) project is to improve the enabling environment for equitable and sustainable health services, supplies and delivery systems through policy development and implementation, with an emphasis on family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), maternal and child health (MCH), and HIV and AIDS. It is expected that work across health policy, advocacy, financing, and governance, in a highly coordinated and collaborative approach and with attention to gender equality and equity issues, will be required to achieve the project purpose. This project will leverage previous USG investments in the areas of policy, advocacy, financing, and governance, preserve the progress made to date, and ensure progression toward stated objectives.

MPI- G8 Investment Support Pro...gram - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The USAID Investment Support P...rogram (ISP) serves as the keystone award for USAIDs efforts to provide a full range of financial and investment services to potential investors; private sector actors; host government organizations; USAID field missions throughout the world; and USAID geographic and pillar bureaus. This activity will focus on mobilizing private sector capital towards opportunities that can generate an economic and social impact. This program is global in scope, with potential activities in any country and/or region where USAID operates. It is also open to engaging in any economic sector, in support of current and future Agency priorities. It is anticipated that at least 50% of this programs funding will be dedicated to agriculture activities in support of the Feed the Future Initiative.

The Maternal and Child Centers... of Excellence project, led by Abt Associates for USAID, addressed a joint goal of USAID and the Dominican Republic: Improving the health status and lives of the people of the country by increasing their access to quality maternal and child care, with the ultimate objective of reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality. The project, implemented from February 2009 through February 2014, focused on developing Centers of Excellence with integrated health systems to improve the quality of maternal and child health services in ten strategically selected hospitals and three Provincial Health Directorates (DPS). By disseminating their lessons learned and best practices, the centers are contributing to the countrys achievement of equal access to sustainable and quality services for every mother and child.

MCSP is reducing maternal and ...newborn mortality and morbidity in Burma by strengthening the midwifery profession. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other partners, we promote best practices in maternal and newborn health care, and provide capacity building support to the Myanmar Nurses Midwives Association. We focus on evidence-based, high-quality interventions to reduce the leading drivers of maternal mortality in the country: postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, and sepsis. MCSP also addresses the major causes of newborn death through improved neonatal resuscitation, prevention and management of pre-term birth, care for preterm/low birth weight newborns, and identification and management of newborn infections. And we work with the MOH to provide national technical assistance for malaria in pregnancy and integrated community case management.
