Second Generation Alliances fo...r Social Investment - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The second generation of Alian...zas builds on the original programs goals, utilizing alliances to improve education and health. Since 2005, the partnership has had several key achievements through the formation of 104 individual private sector alliances: providing more than 100,000 scholarships, delivering over 150,000 textbooks, installation of 80 computer labs, training approximately 7,500 teachers, and training more than 5,000 health providers. In addition, more than 350,000 people received reproductive health and family planning informational messages, 26,000 mothers and 22,000 children took part in a maternal/child health program, over 46,000 people gained access to safe water after Tropical Storm Stan, and 7.4 million Guatemalans received vaccines to eradicate measles and rubella.

LOCAL GOVERNANCE PROJECT - MAT...ERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH
more
|
Local Governance Project - Mat...ernal and Child Health
more
|
In the 1990s, the National Gov...ernment of Guatemala passed reforms to devolve significant responsibility and authority to municipalities and spur broad-based economic growth in light of inadequate centralized systems and a rising demand for public services. After more than 10 years, the decentralization process is still a work in progress. The local governments ability to mobilize citizen participation and support local development has been constrained by a variety of factors including: poor representation of women and indigenous leaders in municipal government and in local development councils; lack of skills and experience in conducting public communication; and lack of effective accounting systems to build public trust. In response, the Guatemala Local Governance Project, supported under a task order from the USAID SUM II IQC and with funds from Feed the Future (FtF), is working in the East of Guatemala (Corredor Seco Region) and the Western Highlands of Guatemala to assist 25 rural municipalities to increase its capacity of municipal governments to respond to the needs and demands of their constituents, institutionalize participatory processes and transparency through the promotion of informed citizen participation (particularly of women, the indigenous, and other traditionally under-represented groups) and promote local economic development.

Systems for Improved Access to... Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
SIAPS focuses on enhancing pha...rmaceutical services through patientcentered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The SIAPS goal is to support the achievement of improved and sustained health outcomes by applying a systems strengthening approach consistent with the Global Health Initiative (GHI) principles. The SIAPS result areas address the intersections of five health systems components as they pertain to pharmaceutical services (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) in the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.

Maternal and Child Survival Pr...ogram (MCSP - formerly RMNCH) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
MCSP is reducing maternal and ...newborn mortality and morbidity in Burma by strengthening the midwifery profession. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other partners, we promote best practices in maternal and newborn health care, and provide capacity building support to the Myanmar Nurses Midwives Association. We focus on evidence-based, high-quality interventions to reduce the leading drivers of maternal mortality in the country: postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, and sepsis. MCSP also addresses the major causes of newborn death through improved neonatal resuscitation, prevention and management of pre-term birth, care for preterm/low birth weight newborns, and identification and management of newborn infections. And we work with the MOH to provide national technical assistance for malaria in pregnancy and integrated community case management.

PROMARK: Strengthening and Exp...anding Social Marketing in Haiti - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
A significant percentage of Ha...itis population cannot afford health care and does not receive information on basic health issues. In response, USAID launched PROMARK to strengthen and expand social marketing of health-related products and services in Haiti and address gaps in behavior change communication and information campaigns. The PROMARK project is designed based on Ministry of Health (MOH) recommendations, both at the central and departmental levels. PROMARK promotes healthy behaviors related to reproductive health, family planning, maternal health, and child survival. A primary component of this strategy is the distribution of affordable condoms and other contraceptives, oral rehydration salts, and safe water products at commercial establishments, pharmacies, and private clinics throughout the country, thus making behavior change easier.

AKSE (Aksyon Kolektif pou Seki...rite kont Eksplwatasyon - Health Policy Project) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The Health Policy Project (HPP...) works to strengthen developing country national and subnational policy, advocacy, governance, and finance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming. HPP helps countries bring about real change in the health of people and communities. We work with in-country partners to sustain commitment to and ownership of policy responses that support improvements in family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, and maternal health.
more
|
Globally, HPP contributes to i...mproved health outcomes through strengthening the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of health systems in a multi-sectoral context. HPP focuses on the policy aspects of health and other social sectors, often in a multi-sectoral context. We also assist countries to improve health outcomes by addressing barriers due to gender inequalities, socioeconomic status, stigma and discrimination, operational issues, and other factors that prevent people from seeking the health and related social services they need. Throughout our work, we are committed to encouraging in-country capacity for policy, advocacy, governance, and finance. For additional information on HPP see www.healthpolicyproject.com. (https://jobpaw.com/public/detailsjob.php?idjob=5595)
In Haiti, HPP has been asked to implement the USAID-funded for the Aksyon Kolektif pou Sekirite kont Eksplwatasyon (AKSE) Program which supports a multi-sectoral approach to strengthen the Haitian environment for human rights in general and for vulnerable populations, in particular, children, women, and sexual minorities. AKSE was previously implemented by CARE International. HPP will build on the work of the previous project from March 2014 through at least September 2015, with potential for extension.

This project strengthens the h...uman resources (HR) needed to implement quality health programs, in both the public and private, particularly the not-for-profit private, sectors. It addresses both the number of healthcare workers needed and the quality and performance of those workers. The definition of healthcare worker is expanded to include HR managers, laboratory staff, pharmacists, social workers, information systems/monitoring and evaluation specialists and others essential to the effective functioning of the health system.

Polio Eradication and Immuniza...tion Support (CORE Group) - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
The CORE Group Polio Project (...CGPP) is a multi-country, multi-partner initiative providing financial support and on-the-ground technical guidance and support to strengthen host country efforts to eradicate polio. A U.S secretariat serves as a global partnership liaison and provides overall technical assistance and financial management in each country to maximize and harmonize resources and coordinate collaboration among partners. Several CORE Group member organizations come together to implement theCORE Group Secretariat model, a time-tested mechanism for increasing coordination and collaboration. Central to the model and to each CGPP country site is an in-country secretariat- a small team of neutral, technical advisors, independent from any one implementing partner. The Secretariat team facilitates communication, coordination, and transparent decision-making among all partners-unifying the community-level expertise of iNGOs and local NGOs with the international knowledge and strategies of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) partners.
