The objective of the USAID App...lying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project is to improve the quality and outcomes of health care and other services by enabling host country providers and managers to apply the science of improvement. The project seeks to build the capacity of host country service delivery organizations in USAID-assisted countries to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, client-centeredness, safety, accessibility, and equity of the health and family services they provide. |
The USAID Program for Strength...ening the Central American Response to HIV/AIDS (PASCA) (20082013) strives to foster a strong, unified regional approach to the epidemic. PASCA is guided by three core principlesforging linkages, fostering leadership, and advancing evidence-based decisionmaking. The project uses a combined country and regional approach to achieve its objective. The project implements country-specific activities in Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Panama, as well as region-wide initiatives that include Honduras and Nicaragua. PASCA bolsters the regional response to HIV through three main strategic objectives:Enhancing implementation of regional and national HIV/AIDS strategic plans, Supporting effective implementation of national advocacy agendas, Mitigating HIV/TB co-infection by strengthening collaboration between HIV and TB programs and by placing co-infection on the regional agenda.

The second generation of Alian...zas builds on the original programs goals, utilizing alliances to improve education and health. Since 2005, the partnership has had several key achievements through the formation of 104 individual private sector alliances: providing more than 100,000 scholarships, delivering over 150,000 textbooks, installation of 80 computer labs, training approximately 7,500 teachers, and training more than 5,000 health providers. In addition, more than 350,000 people received reproductive health and family planning informational messages, 26,000 mothers and 22,000 children took part in a maternal/child health program, over 46,000 people gained access to safe water after Tropical Storm Stan, and 7.4 million Guatemalans received vaccines to eradicate measles and rubella.

The Health Policy Project (HPP...) works to strengthen developing country national and subnational policy, advocacy, governance, and finance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming. HPP helps countries bring about real change in the health of people and communities. We work with in-country partners to sustain commitment to and ownership of policy responses that support improvements in family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, and maternal health.
more
|
Globally, HPP contributes to i...mproved health outcomes through strengthening the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of health systems in a multi-sectoral context. HPP focuses on the policy aspects of health and other social sectors, often in a multi-sectoral context. We also assist countries to improve health outcomes by addressing barriers due to gender inequalities, socioeconomic status, stigma and discrimination, operational issues, and other factors that prevent people from seeking the health and related social services they need. Throughout our work, we are committed to encouraging in-country capacity for policy, advocacy, governance, and finance. For additional information on HPP see www.healthpolicyproject.com. (https://jobpaw.com/public/detailsjob.php?idjob=5595)
In Haiti, HPP has been asked to implement the USAID-funded for the Aksyon Kolektif pou Sekirite kont Eksplwatasyon (AKSE) Program which supports a multi-sectoral approach to strengthen the Haitian environment for human rights in general and for vulnerable populations, in particular, children, women, and sexual minorities. AKSE was previously implemented by CARE International. HPP will build on the work of the previous project from March 2014 through at least September 2015, with potential for extension.
