URGENT PROTECTION AND ASSISTAN...CE TO DISPLACED WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN YEMEN
more
|

WB MULTI-PARTNER FUND SOMALIA ...2014-2017
more
|
WB Multi-Partner Fund Somalia ...2014-2017
more
|
Somalia is ranked as the most ...fragile state in the world (2013 Fragile State Index). Two decades of civil war and recurring humanitarian crises, incl. famines, has kept the population of Somalia in poverty and vulnerability; 2.3 million people remain on the margins of food insecurity and over one million people are internally displaced. Poverty is estimated at 73 percent and extreme poverty at 43 percent for a population of roughly ten million people.Reduction of fragility and strengthening of livelihoods will depend on state legitimacy which is interlinked with delivery on security, basic services, jobs and justice, as well as with public perceptions that corruption is being tackled. The Multi Partner Fund (MPF) is designed to support such developments by; a) strengthening core state functions, enhancing transparent and accountable revenue generation and equitable distribution of state resources; andb) revitalization and expansion of an inclusive economy, with a focus on livelihood enhancement, employment generation and inclusive growth. The MPF is part of the structure created to deliver on goals articulated in the New Deal Compact for Somalia, which was adoped by the Somali government and presented at the international conference on Somalia in Brussels, in September 2013. The MPF is by its structure of pooled funding and multi stakeholder involvement shaped to overcome a currently fragmented aid and governance landscape in Somalia, by bringing key stakeholders to a common platform for development – in which significant powers is given to the emerging Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) itself.

Restless Development is a Tanz...anian NGO that delivers youth development and leadership programmes. It places young people at the forefront of change and development. It implements programmes that mobilise young people so they can empower others to make informed decisions about issues affecting their lives and those of their communities.

|
Voice. Restless Development Ta...nzania has been building on the recent successes in their
campaigning and advocacy initiatives, most recently in ensuring youth voice influenced the
Constitution Review in 2015 as well as in supporting young people to register to vote in the 2016
national election process.
Kijana Wajibika (Youth be Responsible) is a ground-breaking initiative, which builds a movement of
young people who are well informed on civic rights and actively engaged in political processes. The
initiative uses our proven and successful youth-led, data-driven accountability model, which places
young people at the centre of development and governance processes and provides a platform to
empower youth in Tanzania to hold government to account.
Living: This is a ‘gateway’ programming area and priority for young Tanzanians. Through projects
such as Mabinti Tushike Hatamu (Girls, Let’s Be Leaders), Kizazi Kipya (New Generation), the East
African Youth Inclusion programme, and work with the Mastercard Foundation, young people receive
training and mentorship to build employability and entrepreneurship skills, business planning skills
and financial literacy - particularly focusing on reaching otherwise excluded young women and girls.
Sexual Rights : Our Mabinti Tushike Hatamu programme integrates gender-focused livelihoods work
with Sexaul Reproductive Health actions; while the programme - delivered nationally in partnership
with Population Services International - aims to increase young people’s access to family planning
services, Gender Based Vionlence (GBV) referrals and to work with health facilities to strengthen
youth-friendly service provision.
Our Kizazi Kipya project seeks to enable more Tanzanian orphans and vulnerable children to utilize
age-appropriate HIV/AIDS-related services for improved care, education, protection, livelihoods and
psychosocial well-being.

DIAKONIA FRAME 2016-2020
|
Diakonia frame 2016-2020
|
This programme is implemented ...during a five-year period (as framework organizations may now apply for grants for longer periods than in the past in order to increase aid effectiveness) and it is based on Diakonia's global strategy for 2015-2020. It includes 21 country programs in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, and six regional programs and a new global program for innovation in the area of social and economic justice. Diakonia is working through local civil society organizations for the overall goal to change unfair structures that generate and uphold inequality, oppression and violence and to work for fulfilment of the right of all people to live a life in dignity. In total 216 partner organizations are included in this application. Operations are focused on the following six areas: human rights (HR), democracy, equality, social and economic justice, conflict and justice, as well as capacity development of partners. What is new compared to the previous contribution is primarily the inclusion of several new regional programs in various areas as well as the global innovation program.Expected results:General expected results are formulated for the six areas. These are linked to the expected results for each program (i.e. by country / regional / global program), which in many cases consist of a selection of results that are identical to the general results. The results at the program level are concretized through indicators.Examples of expected outcomes, one from each region, in some common thematic areas are: Mali: Women's political participation has been strengthened at the local and national levels (democracy) Bolivia: Gender-based violence has decreased (gender equality) Bangladesh: The conditions for decent work and fair income have improved (social and economic justice) Lebanon: The capacity of Diakonia's partners to integrate environment and conflict sensitivity in their work (where relevant) has been improved. (capacity development)Previous results:Reports often show results in terms of strengthened rights holders and increased capacity of partner organizations. The following examples show previous results in a few areas:Human rights: In Thailand five partner organizations assisted tens of thousands of stateless persons to obtain legal status. This means that they for example have the right to work and study, as well as to access rights-based services.Democracy: In Mali, partner organizations were trained in citizen budget monitoring and analysis of public policies. This has led to increased budgets for health and education in several municipalities. In one province all municipalities published their accounting in 2014, whereas in 2012 none of the municipalities did.Conflict and Justice: Seven partner organizations in Colombia, Honduras and Peru have increased their knowledge of the legal framework and have taken legal action, which in some cases resulted in the return to communities of pieces of land from extractive c

|
Bangladesh Global Deal Project... - Social dialogue and Industrial relations
more
|
The Ready-Made Garments (RMG) ...sector is Bangladesh's biggest export industry and provides work for more than four million people of whom about 80% are women. The industry has been criticized for low wages and poor working conditions, safety and trade union rights. Labour legislation is unsatisfactory, although Bangladesh has acceded to most of the ILO conventions. A functioning conciliation or arbitration mechanism does not exist. After the Rana Plaza disaster, there is a strong momentum in the sector to improve workers safety and rights of pressure from foreign buyers and governments. The overall Project objective is to strengthen industrial relations and social dialogue between employers and workers in the RMG sector. The expectation is that this will contribute to increasing productivity, strengthening the rights of workers and improving working conditions. The Project will be implemented at three levels: i) national, with a focus on improving in the regulatory framework and institutional and policy development, ii) sectorial, with focus on building organisational capacity and forums for dialogue between the social partners and iii) factory, with focus on strengthen the social dialogue between employers and employees. The Project is based on a hypothesis that social dialogue between the social partners is an important means for advancing human rights in the workplace, increasing workers participation in democratic decision processes and increasing business productivity. Non-functioning trade unions, poor application of the labour law regulations and prevailing social norms contributes to that many poor men and women are without representation in the workplace. Young people and women are often particularly vulnerable and gender-based violence and discrimination in the workplace is common practice. Another important issue for the Project is the low proportion of women in leading positions in trade unions, workers participation committees and employers' associations. The Project is implemented by the ILO in close collaboration with the Bangladeshi government, employers' associations and trade union federations in close collaboration with IF Metall and H&M. The Project will run for five years starting in November 2015 with an inception phase of four months. Sweden and Denmark are the main donors of the Project, whereof Sweden's share of the budget is 70%, equivalent to SEK 45 million. The Project is innovative and can provide interesting lessons beyond this Project and it represents an application at country level of Sweden's Global Deal initiative to strengthen labour market relations globally and will contribute to SDG 8.

|
|

|
|
The results at the program level are concretized through indicators.Examples of expected outcomes, one from each region, in some common thematic areas are:Mali: Women's political participation has been strengthened at the local and national levels (democracy)Bolivia: Gender-based violence has decreased (gender equality)Bangladesh: The conditions for decent work and fair income have improved (social and economic justice)Lebanon: The capacity of Diakonia's partners to integrate environment and conflict sensitivity in their work (where relevant) has been improved. In one province all municipalities published their accounting in 2014, whereas in 2012 none of the municipalities did.Conflict and Justice: Seven partner organizations in Colombia, Honduras and Peru have increased their knowledge of the legal framework and have taken legal action, which in some cases resulted in the return to communities of pieces of land from extractive companies.T

WSSCC-WATER SUPPLY SANIT COLLA...B COUNCIL 2016-19
more
|
WSSCC-Water Supply Sanit Colla...b Council 2016-19
more
|
WSSCC has submitted a request ...to donors for support during the period 2016-2020 within a total amount of 256 MUSD. It is proposed that Sida provides a contribution during the period 2016-2019 within an amount of 80 MSEK.WSSCC strives to contribute to Member States' efforts i Africa and Asia to ia. achieve the new Sustainable Development Goal 6.2 for universal access to sanitation and hygiene. This includes ending the practise of open defecation, giving people the opportunity to improve their sanitation situation, as well as to strengthen the people's dignity. WSSCC intends also to help reduce social inequalities associated with lack of access to sanitation and hygiene (ia. hand washing and menstrual hygiene management), which is expected to have positive effects on several of the other new SDG's. WSSCC will continue to promote equal access to sanitation and hygiene among poor and socially marginalised populations, including the elderly and people with temporary or permanent disability. Promoting good menstrual health (by breaking the silence and taboos) will constitute an important contribution to improving and strengthening girls' and women's access to health, education and work.WSSCC's Global Sanitation Fund (GSF) applies the approach of the 'Community Lead Total Sanitation' (CLTS), which is an approach for mobilisation of local communities and households to completely eliminate open defecation. Local communities involved make their own assessments and analysis of how and where open defecation takes place and organises themselves to take their own measures to stop this behaviour. The CLTS concept implies that only the provision of latrines cannot guarantee that they will be used, and that it requires people to change their behaviours and social norms fundamentally, in order to achieve long-term sustainability and to eliminate open defecation. Only in this way can the cycle of faecal-oral transmission of diseases and parasites be halted. CLTS thus focuses on the behavioural and social change standards - to invest in the mobilisation of local communities and not hardware, and to move the focus from the construction of latrines for individual households to the creation of entirely faecal free villages and appropriate local solutions for improved sanitation, thus leading to greater sustainability, and quite immediately a better health situation.WSSCC's goal is to help support developing countries to by 2013 achieve the SDG target 6.2 for universal access to sanitation and hygiene. For the period 2016-2020 WSSCC calculates to be able to reach 70 million people, provided that the necessary financing can be obtained. The strategy for global action on socially sustainable development 2014-2017 defines four milestones of which three are directly related to health:1. Improved basic health. 2. Improved access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and reduced vulnerability to HIV and AIDS. 3. Improved access to clean water and basic sanitation

Kenya's Constitution (2010) he...ralds a new era for Kenya particularly in relation to the advancement of democratic culture, human rights and accountability. It has strengthened opportunities for women such as the commitment to affirmative action, more devolved structures and the repealing of discriminatory laws and practices. The Bill of Rights has enshrined freedoms of expression, opinion and assembly, together with the provisions of a minimum of gender representation in key decision-making organs of the government. These include civil service, parliament, cabinet and County Governments where women have previously been under-represented. However, there exist key challenges to the realisation of a sustained democratic culture ranging from deeply rooted impunity particularly in relation to the conduct of duty bearers, corruption and rampant misuse of public resources. The democratic space in Kenya has continuously been shrinking, since the current government came into power after the elections in 2013. The environment for governance and human rights work, in particularly for civil society, is compared to the years between 2003 and 2013 much more cumbersome.Forum Syd has submitted a program proposal Wajibu Wetu (our responsibility) Programme 2015-2019 for 92 500 000 SEK. The challenges that this programme proposes to address can be summarised in the following three overarching categories: 1) Democratic Culture: rigid heretical power structures, corruption, lack of accountability, impunity, marginalised and excluded populace, lack of national cohesion 2) Human Rights: limited participation in decision making processes especially woman and youth, political and civil rights abuse (freedom of expression/ threats, the proposed anti-terror law Dec 2014), unfulfilled social and economic rights 3) Gender Equality: lack of female elected representatives/officials, unequal power structures and traditional gender roles, discrimination, GBV, sexual and reproductive rights and health, discrimination and exclusion. The programme's overall objective is improved democratic culture, accountability and gender equality in Kenya. The specific objective is strengthened demand and mechanisms for accountability, inclusion and democratic culture through proactive right holders, media, cultural and gender focussed CSOs. These objectives will be achieved through sub granting projects to national media and cultural actors, to support activities around civil society collaboration initiatives including national cohesion, and to provide seed grants for Kenyan grassroots media and cultural actors at their early stages of development.Already late 2014 Forum Syd submitted a concept paper after being part of the consultative process for the development of a new Strategy for Kenya, which was discussed with the Embassy. InA few months later Forum Syd submitted a programme document which included an inception phase. An appraisal was conducted and presented in the Embassy's quality assu
