March 2019 - Yemen is currentl...y the world's largest humanitarian crisis, with 24.1 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, including 14.3 million that require immediate life-saving assistance. The conflict and collapsing economy has pushed nearly 10 million people to the brink of famine, and a total of 4.3 million people have been displaced over the last four years. Yemen is also facing one of the worst cholera epidemics in recorded history, as well as a diphtheria outbreak, the scale of which is compounded by the dire state of water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure and health services. Nearly half of health facilities have been destroyed or are only partially functioning, stocks of medical supplies are low, and many health professionals are working for free or receiving substantially reduced wages. Women and girls are disproportionately affected by the lack of access to essential services and face an increased risk of sexual and gender-based violence due to the crisis. With GAC's support, Action Against Hunger is providing emergency food, livelihoods, water, sanitation and hygiene to up to 71,000 conflict-affected people in the Lahj and Abyan governorates in the south of Yemen. This project aims to reduce the risk of cholera, and the use of negative coping mechanisms within the targeted communities, paying particular attention to the needs of women and girls. Project activities include: (1) providing cash assistance, (2) promoting hygiene (including menstrual hygiene), and (3) rehabilitating water and sanitation facilities. / Mars 2019 – La crise du Yémen est actuellement la plus grave au monde, avec 24,1 millions de personnes nécessitant une aide humanitaire, dont 14,3 millions d'une aide immédiate vitale. During conflicts, natural disa...sters and other complex emergencies, sexual and reproductive health needs must not be overlooked. It is essential to ensure life-saving interventions as related to sexual and reproductive health services, and protection from and response to sexual and gender-based violence are provided. With GAC's support, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is contributing to meeting the sexual and reproductive health needs of vulnerable women and girls in sexual and reproductive health, and preventing and responding to sexual and gender-based violence. The project operates in Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Libya and Yemen. Project activities include: (1) providing emergency obstetric care, and sexual and reproductive health services, (2) providing protection from and response to gender-based violence, and (3) providing health services, supplies and commodities, medication, dignity kits, and reproductive health kits to crisis-affected people.

March 2020 - Yemen is currentl...y the world's largest humanitarian crisis, with 24 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. The conflict and collapsing economy has pushed nearly 10 million people to the brink of famine, and over 3.6 million people have been displaced since the beginning of the crisis in 2015. Basic service provision is collapsing, including critical water, sanitation, hygiene and health services, increasing the risk of disease outbreaks such as cholera, dengue fever and diphtheria. Women and girls are disproportionately affected by the lack of access to essential services and face an increased risk of sexual and gender-based violence due to the crisis. With GAC's multi-year support, the International Medical Corps is providing emergency health and nutrition support to up to 186,150 of the most vulnerable conflict-affected people, particularly women, in the Taiz and Lahj governorates of Yemen. Project activities include: (1) supporting primary and secondary health care services in five clinics and one hospital, (2) deploying mobile health teams to cover hard-to-reach locations and respond to disease outbreaks and displacement, (3) providing nutrition treatment services to children, and pregnant and lactating women, and (4) building community capacity to use appropriate feeding and hygiene practices, as well as detect malnutrition.

Response to health emergencies... in Afghanistan
more
|
WHO provides technical support... to the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan to reduce the health consequences of natural and man-made emergencies, and curb their socioeconomic impact. It achieves this through:
implementing a timely response and recovery measures to natural and man-made disasters by supplying medicines, medical supplies, equipment, tents, hygiene kits, water-testing portable kits; opening temporary mobile and static clinics, treatment centres and providing referral and logistic support; conducting vaccination campaigns, ditributing chlorine and hygiene kits and promoting health; and assesing needs and capacity and ensuring effective coordination as the Health Cluster lead.
reducing health risks to people and health facilities by developing, endorsing and disseminating national emergency preparedness and response strategies, policies, standards, and guidelines; developing/updating provincial and national emergency/disaster management plans on the basis of risk analysis and capacity mapping, and ensuring broad agreement of all stakeholders; and building the capacity of human resources.

NGO: MSF - Netherlands https...://fts.unocha.org/countries/19/flows/2015?order=simple_property_2&sort=desc Close to the Kutupalong makeshift camp in Cox’s Bazar district, MSF runs a clinic offering comprehensive basic and emergency healthcare, as well as inpatient and laboratory services to Rohingya refugees and the local community. There was a sharp increase in patient figures in the last two months of the year, due to a huge influx of Rohingya fleeing Myanmar’s northern Rakhine state. The team treated 113 violence-related injuries in November and December, including 17 with gunshot wounds. During the year, teams carried out 89,954 outpatient, 2,491 inpatient and 4,559 mental health consultations. They also treated 103 victims of sexual violence in 2016, more than double the number in 2015. In addition, 15,194 antenatal consultations were conducted. NGO: MSF https://fts.unocha.or...g/countries/52/flows/2012?f%5B0%5D=destinationPlanIdName%3A!&order=directional_property_2&sort=asc General activites of MSF in Kananga: Since April 2017, MSF has run its own facility in part of the Ministry of Health’s Kananga General Hospital. The team has rehabilitated the operating theatre and manages a surgery ward with a capacity for 49 inpatients.
Outside Kananga, insecurity and violence are worsening. Local health centres are deserted or lack medicines and staff. An MSF team is operating mobile clinics to reach the population in the conflict-affected zones and provide medical assistance. Many displaced people lost access to their income sources due to the insecurity in the area and suffer from nutritional deficiencies.
