|
Systems for Improved Access to... Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS)
more
|
SIAPS focuses on enhancing pha...rmaceutical services through patientcentered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The SIAPS goal is to support the achievement of improved and sustained health outcomes by applying a systems strengthening approach consistent with the Global Health Initiative (GHI) principles. The SIAPS result areas address the intersections of five health systems components as they pertain to pharmaceutical services (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) in the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.
more
|
From 2011 to 2018, the USAID-f...unded Systems for Improved Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) Program worked to ensure equitable, affordable access to safe, quality-assured medicines and related services in 46 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Oceania.
The SIAPS pharmaceutical systems strengthening approach included local counterparts and partners in addressing five interrelated health system functions—governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery—with a focus on medicines.
The program tackled systemic deficiencies, going beyond the selection, procurement, and distribution of pharmaceutical products to include dispensing and supplying pharmaceuticals to individuals and providing medication-related information and counseling. Treatment focused on critical health areas, such as family planning, HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, tuberculosis, and neglected tropical diseases and, more recently, Ebola.

Marketing Innovations for Heal...th (MIH)
more
|
MIH is a four-year project tha...t started in July 2012 under a cooperative agreement with USAID. SMC is implementing this integrated social marketing program along with several local and international partners, to help bring about behavior change and improve health practices, increase access to and use of family planning products including Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive methods, Reproductive Health and Nutritional products, and improve the capacity of community based health practitioners in the private sector. The program is implementing community mobilization activities in 19 low-performing districts of Bangladesh. In addition, it includes national distribution and communication of existing SMC products as well as several new innovations through the private sector. SMC partners in the project include BRAC, Concerned Women for Family Development (CWFD), Population Services and Training Centre (PSTC) and Shimantik. Engender Health and PSI are associated as training and technical partners respectively. Under MIH, SMC is implementing a large health communications program with focused messaging on five core communication areas as follows: Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancies; First 1000 Days of a Child's life (from conception to 2 years of age); Healthy Pregnancy; Adolescent Health; TB Prevention and Management. The program will also expand SMC's network of Blue Star providers and build capacity of formal and non-formal health providers through basic and refreshers training.

MEASURE EVALUATION IV
|
Measure Evaluation IV
|
The Monitoring and Evaluation ...to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE) Evaluation Phase IV Project builds on the decades-long commitment by the Bureau for Global Health to support health sector monitoring and evaluation and country health information system strengthening. The project is designed, in part, to further efforts of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to end preventable child and maternal deaths (EPCMD) by assisting partner governments and institutions to generate and make use of high-quality health systems data that can be used to guide decision-making on effective interventions. The strategic objective of the MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV Project is to enable countries to strengthen national, community, and facility-based systems to generate high quality health information that is used to inform decisions on policies, programs, and resource allocations at all levels of the health system.

The Marketing Innovations for ...Sustainable Health Development is a Global Development Alliance that will use commercial marketing techniques to promote public health products and services through private sector providers and private sector pharmacies. The alliance will introduce new products into the market, engage private sector health facilities to provide public health services and commodities for family planning, maternal and child health, tuberculosis, and nutrition, and adopt non-conventional approaches to expand markets to reach low income groups with affordably priced services. The activity will specifically reach underserved demographic groups such as women and girls, adolescents, and the urban and semi-urban population. The activity will increase the use of long acting and reversible contraceptive methods, adding an estimated five million couple years of protection.

Through the Research for Decis...ion Makers activity, USAID supports implementation research on priority health areas, provides advisory services to the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) for health policy work, and builds health sector research capacity. This activity will initiate eight implementation research studies on family planning, maternal and newborn health, nutrition and tuberculosis. These studies will inform USAID and the GOB on programmatic strategies to improve utilization of health services and health outcomes. The results of these studies will provide the evidence base to support policy analysis and programmatic guidance to assist the GOB, USAID, and other partners in strategic decision-making on health. The activity supports Bangladesh's national health policy and its investments in health.

The Capacity Building of Cambo...dia's Local Organizations project will directly support USAID Forward goals by promoting sustainable development through the use of local partnerships. The project will support the development of new partnerships with local organizations and strengthen the skills of existing partners across all technical sectors. Environment partners in particular will gain from this activity and will in turn lead to more effective programming that will often support Cambodia low emissions development strategy. The project will help local organizations improve their financial management and human resource systems, develop strategic and operational plans, and strengthen their monitoring and evaluation systems. This project will also support USAID in implementing risk-mitigation procedures through pre-award assessments of potential local organizations and financial reviews of current partners.

The Health Information, Policy..., and Advocacy (HIPA) project will improve the quality and use of population and health data reported in the Cambodian government's health management information system and vital statistics registration database. HIPA will support the entry of tuberculosis program data into the health information system; development of analytic and user-friendly tools for use by non-health authorities to better allocate resources for community health priorities; and refinement of the host government's data quality audit tools and systems to improve the quality of reported data from both public and private health-care providers. Reliable data is essential for Cambodian government officials and other stakeholders to make informed decisions about policies and resource allocations leading to improved accountability of health-care service delivery.

Global Health Supply Chain - P...rocurement and Supply Management (GSHC-PSM) IDIQ - HIV/AIDS Task Order
more
|
Building on decades of USAID's... work procuring health commodities and strengthening supply chains, the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management project is working to transform global and national supply chains for health commodities. The project integrates two former USAID programs into one efficient supply chain that serves many of the world's most vulnerable and difficult-to-reach communities. The project is designed to meet today's critical global health challenges - eliminating HIV and AIDS, providing universal malaria coverage, and helping women meet their family planning and reproductive health needs. By bringing together advanced technical solutions, a team of highly qualified experts, and proven commercial processes and principles, USAID Global Health Supply Chain works to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in global and national supply chains. In addition to optimizing supply chains, the project is strengthening national supply chain systems and fostering collaboration among supply chain stakeholders worldwide.

|
|

COMMUNICATION FOR CHANGE (C-CH...ANGE) IN DRC
more
|
Communication for Change (C-Ch...ange) in DRC
more
|
FHI 360's Communication for Ch...ange (C-Change) project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) seeks to increase positive health behaviors through evidence-based, social and behavior change communication (SBCC) programs that focus on family planning, HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence, malaria, tuberculosis, water sanitation, maternal and child health, nutrition and HIV, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. C-Change is working at central and provincial levels to build managerial and SBCC skills within the government, nongovernmental organizations and civil society organizations. We envision building local capacity to plan, monitor and evaluate scientifically based SBCC interventions, so the DRC becomes a regional leader offering state-of-the-art SBCC approaches to neighboring countries.
