CONSTRUCTION OF HEALTH AND EDU...CATION FACILITIES (CHEF) PROGRAM - TUBERCULOSIS
more
Construction of Health and Edu...cation Facilities (CHEF) Program - Tuberculosis
more
The Construction of Health and... Education Facilities (CHEF) project addresses the medical needs of more than two million Afghan citizens through the construction of two new hospitals, a 100-bed hospital in Gardez, and a 20 bed hospital in Paktika.Additionally over 1 million Afghan citizens will benefit from the construction of three provincial midwife training centers in Faizabad, Khost, and Bamiyan. These health facilities will support the Ministry of Public Health in its efforts to provide urgently needed health services, including in-patient and out-patient referral and treatment. The hospitals will also serve as training facilities for health professionals, as well as venues for medical conferences and seminars. The education component of the CHEF project, through construction of four Provincial Teacher Training Centers (PTTC), aims to address the following teacher training goals identified by the Ministry of Education: 1) providing the proper infrastructure needed to educate trainers of teachers and teachers themselves; 2) strengthening the educational requirements of the country; and 3) increasing the quality and number of teachers. Target PTTCs are located in Wardak, Faryab, Nangarhar, and Parwan provinces.

TRANSLATING RESEARCH INTO ACTI...ON (TRACTION) PROJECT - TUBERCULOSIS

Translating Research into Acti...on (TRAction) Project - Tuberculosis
more
The purpose of the Translating... Research into Action (TRAction) Project is to accelerate the introduction and scale up of approaches and interventions that when implemented in programs will reduce mortality and severe morbidity in women, newborns and young children. There is a preponderance of evidence on the potential impact of specific maternal, neonatal and child health interventions yet the successful implementation and scale-up of these in countries remains a challenge. TRAction will address this knowledge gap by managing research, introduction and evaluation activities on how to effectively deliver, increase utilization, achieve coverage, and scale-up evidence based newborn, child, maternaland integrated MNCH health and nutrition tools, approaches, interventions and policies that are relevant to field programs.

Marketing Innovations for Heal...th (MIH) - Tuberculosis
more
MIH is a four-year project tha...t started in July 2012 under a cooperative agreement with USAID. SMC is implementing this integrated social marketing program along with several local and international partners, to help bring about behavior change and improve health practices, increase access to and use of family planning products including Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive methods, Reproductive Health and Nutritional products, and improve the capacity of community based health practitioners in the private sector. The program is implementing community mobilization activities in 19 low-performing districts of Bangladesh. In addition, it includes national distribution and communication of existing SMC products as well as several new innovations through the private sector. SMC partners in the project include BRAC, Concerned Women for Family Development (CWFD), Population Services and Training Centre (PSTC) and Shimantik. Engender Health and PSI are associated as training and technical partners respectively. Under MIH, SMC is implementing a large health communications program with focused messaging on five core communication areas as follows: Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancies; First 1000 Days of a Childs life (from conception to 2 years of age); Healthy Pregnancy; Adolescent Health; TB Prevention and Management. The program will also expand SMCs network of Blue Star providers and build capacity of formal and non-formal health providers through basic and refreshers training.

The Strengthening Tuberculosis... Control in Ukraine project works through specific quality assurance programs and systems strengthening measures for routine health services in targeted areas of the country. The project focuses on a variety of health services in ten targeted regions of Ukraine. The project works to expand the availability of Directly Observed Treatment Short course (DOTS)-based TB services, improve the quality of laboratory practices for correct diagnoses, and introduce infection control practices in health facilities. By promoting safe patient practices, the project also supports health facilities to more effectively manage multi-drug-resistant TB cases and contributes to better treatment outcomes.

CAPACITY BUILDING OF CAMBODIAS... LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS - TUBERCULOSIS
more
Capacity Building of Cambodias... Local Organizations - Tuberculosis
more
The Capacity Building of Cambo...dias Local Organizations project will directly support USAID Forward goals by promoting sustainable development through the use of local partnerships. The project will support the development of new partnerships with local organizations and strengthen the skills of existing partners across all technical sectors. Environment partners in particular will gain from this activity and will in turn lead to more effective programming that will often support Cambodia low emissions development strategy. The project will help local organizations improve their financial management and human resource systems, develop strategic and operational plans, and strengthen their monitoring and evaluation systems. This project will also support USAID in implementing risk-mitigation procedures through pre-award assessments of potential local organizations and financial reviews of current partners.

Health Information Policy and ...Advocacy Project - Tuberculosis
more
The Health Information, Policy..., and Advocacy (HIPA) project will improve the quality and use of population and health data reported in the Cambodian governments health management information system and vital statistics registration database. HIPA will support the entry of tuberculosis program data into the health information system; development of analytic and user-friendly tools for use by non-health authorities to better allocate resources for community health priorities; and refinement of the host governments data quality audit tools and systems to improve the quality of reported data from both public and private health-care providers. Reliable data is essential for Cambodian government officials and other stakeholders to make informed decisions about policies and resource allocations leading to improved accountability of health-care service delivery.
