Health and Immunization Respon...se Support: CORE Group Polio Project - Maternal and Child Health
more
|
To increase PVO participation ...in polio eradication and immunization, increase linkages between polio eradication and other health services, and to improve case detection of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) and other reportable diseases in underserved or hard to reach populations, including cross-border and transit populations. The project will continue its work in India, Angola, and Ethiopia, but has the flexibility to expand to 2 3 additional countries if field support resources areavailable. The CORE Group Polio Project, originated as a subset of the 50+ member organizations of the CORE Group, Inc a network of partners to generate collaborative action and learning to improve and expand community-focused public health practices for underserved populations around the world. World Vision is the primary recipient and coordinates the work of 10 US-based NGOs and 18 local NGOs who extend the projects reach especially hard-to-reach and marginalized locations in each country and across borders. This agreement allows the project to expand its linkages with other health services using non-polio funds to extend the knowledge, skills and community engagement developed for polio eradication.

The CORE Group Polio Project (...CGPP) is a multi-country, multi-partner initiative providing financial support and on-the-ground technical guidance and support to strengthen host country efforts to eradicate polio. A U.S secretariat serves as a global partnership liaison and provides overall technical assistance and financial management in each country to maximize and harmonize resources and coordinate collaboration among partners. Several CORE Group member organizations come together to implement the CORE Group Secretariat model, a time-tested mechanism for increasing coordination and collaboration. Central to the model and to each CGPP country site is an in-country secretariat- a small team of neutral, technical advisors, independent from any one implementing partner. The Secretariat team facilitates communication, coordination, and transparent decision-making among all partners-unifying the community-level expertise of iNGOs and local NGOs with the international knowledge and strategies of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) partners.
