Health Financing Improvement P...rogram (HFIP)
more
Through the USAID Health Finan...cing Improvement Program, Abt and its consortium partners strengthen HCF functions and systems in Ethiopia, and increase local capacities that facilitate sustainable and continuous reform implementation. Our efforts focus on facilitating the nationwide rollout and institutionalization of first-generation reforms (such as health facility boards and revenue retention and utilization) that increase domestic resources for health and improve governance. Were also refining and scaling-up second-generation reforms, including community-based health insurance (CBHI), and exploring new third-generation interventions to further enhance HCF reforms.

BREAKTHROUGH-ACTION
Breakthrough-ACTION
Breakthrough-ACTION will use s...tate-of-the-art, evidence-based tools to encourage people in developing countries to adopt healthy behaviors, from using modern contraceptive methods to sleeping under bed nets to being tested for HIV. Much of the work will harness the power of communication - from mass media campaigns to TV and radio dramas to simple posters in a health clinic - to inspire long-lasting change. The project will also take advantage of other behavioral science approaches such as behavioral economics and human-centered design to improve programs. The program - which builds on a prior five-year, 31-country project called the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) - is expected to be double the size. It will be led by CCP who will partner with Save the Children, ideas42, ThinkPlace Kenya and Camber Collective. Breakthrough-ACTION will also be supported in the field by ActionSprout, the International Center for Research on Women and Human Network International. CCP is based at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

The purpose of the Health Poli...cy Plus (HP+) project is to improve the enabling environment for equitable and sustainable health services, supplies and delivery systems through policy development and implementation, with an emphasis on family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), maternal and child health (MCH), and HIV and AIDS. It is expected that work across health policy, advocacy, financing, and governance, in a highly coordinated and collaborative approach and with attention to gender equality and equity issues, will be required to achieve the project purpose. This project will leverage previous USG investments in the areas of policy, advocacy, financing, and governance, preserve the progress made to date, and ensure progression toward stated objectives.

Building on decades of USAIDs ...work procuring health commodities and strengthening supply chains, the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management project is working to transform global and national supply chains for health commodities. The project integrates two former USAID programs into one efficient supply chain that serves many of the worlds most vulnerable and difficult-to-reach communities. The project is designed to meet todays critical global health challenges eliminating HIV and AIDS, providing universal malaria coverage, and helping women meet their family planning and reproductive health needs. By bringing together advanced technical solutions, a team of highly qualified experts, and proven commercial processes and principles, USAID Global Health Supply Chain works to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in global and national supply chains. In addition to optimizing supply chains, the project is strengthening national supply chain systems and fostering collaboration among supply chain stakeholders worldwide.

HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Health Information Systems
The Health Information Systems... (HIS) project supports USG efforts to strengthen the Ministry of Health's (MOH) capacity to build sustainable health information systems within Haiti. This allows for the Government of Haiti to effectively manage program resources (both host country and donor) and monitor patient outcomes, as well as ensure effective systematic use of health data. Last year HIS assisted the MOH to strengthen their capacity to manage the DHIS-2 platform. This included linking the various information systems to facilitate data analysis and informed resource and management planning. The tuberculosis (TB) tracker was rolled out in order to capture patient level data of tuberculosis patients.

HEALTH LEADERSHIP PROJECT (HLP...) ACTIVITY

Health Leadership Project (HLP...) Activity
more
HLP will strengthen the GOH as... steward of the health sector, increasingly in control of its own financial and human resources, over a coordinated system that is less reliant on external partners for equitable delivery of quality health services. In essence, the Project will enhance the capabilities of Haitian partners to direct their own development and reduce dependence on outside sources. In order to achieve this goal, close collaboration with the GOH, relevant USG entities and implementing partners, and international stakeholders is needed. HLP is expected to build upon the successes of recent support for strengthening governance, human resources for health, health financing and advocacy for greater domestic resource mobilization for the health sector. The HLP implementer will conduct activities within two interrelated objectives: Support the GOH in increasing its ability to finance the health sector through more effective and efficient use of existing resources and by mobilizing additional resources, Support the GOH in improving planning and oversight of the health workforce.

Plan India School Water, Sanit...ation and Hygiene (WASH) Project
more
This implementing mechanism fo...cuses on government schools in poor urban neighborhoods to improve sanitation facilities and promote the effective use of WASH infrastructure in schools. This activity contributes to the national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission): Swachh Vidyalaya (Clean India: Clean School) program. The activity will construct or rehabilitate gender appropriate toilet facilities that, when combined with menstrual hygiene management outreach, will help reduce girls' absenteeism and promote gender equality. By learning and internalizing healthy practices at schools, students will become agents of change within their communities. The activity will work closely with the School Education Department, Municipal Corporation, and District Administration at all stages. It will also lay the groundwork for scale up through advocacy efforts and exposure visits.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene ...Institute (WASHi) - Technical Assistance to Government of India for Swachh Bharat Mission
more
USAID/India will implement a n...ew activity entitled Technical Assistance to the Government of India (GOI) for the Swachh Bharat Mission that is a follow-on to the previous identically named activity. This 'phase.two' will fund national project management units supporting both the Swachh.Bharat (Clean India) and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation. (AMRUT) GOI missions that are working to end open defecation in India. As the Swachh Bharat Mission comes to a close in 2019, AMRUT will continue the work to ensure open defecation free status is maintained and the treatment of liquid wastes is improved in urban areas. The purpose of this Activity i...s to support the Government of Indonesia (GOI) to sustain and increase efficiency in financing for health to improve financial protection, equitable access to quality health services, and health outcomes in USAID priority areas of HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH). The USAID Health Financing Activity has two objectives: 1) Improved sustainability of GOI financing for health. USAID seeks technical assistance to support Indonesian institutions to conceptualize, conduct and apply the necessary health financing analyses and tools needed to drive health sector reform. The Contractor will work with GOI counterparts to gather and improve the availability of quality data, perform analyses, present results, and advise on systems implications and policy options to improve the quality of current GOI health spending, increase GOI spending in the health sector, and improve JKN performance on critical indicators of cost, quality, and access. Collaborating and working directly with Indonesian universities and think tanks (Centers of Excellence) along with GOI stakeholders under this objective is intended to increase the store of technical knowledge and leadership ability within the Indonesian health system. 2) Strategic health purchasing mechanisms and capacities improved. There is substantial opportunity to improve health financing efficiency through refinement of health care purchasing methods and strengthening the way GOI agencies are organized to do this work. The USAID HF Activity will provide technical assistance to support the GOI in designing, implementing, monitoring and improving health care service delivery models, including provider payment mechanisms with the aim of contributing toward the achievement of better health outcomes and stabilizing cost per member enrolled in JKN. Based on assessing the results of current purchasing mechanisms, refinements to current approaches should be made or alternative purchasi

MEASURE EVALUATION IV

Measure Evaluation IV
The Monitoring and Evaluation ...to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE) Evaluation Phase IV Project builds on the decades-long commitment by the Bureau for Global Health to support health sector monitoring and evaluation and country health information system strengthening. The project is designed, in part, to further efforts of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to end preventable child and maternal deaths (EPCMD) by assisting partner governments and institutions to generate and make use of high-quality health systems data that can be used to guide decision-making on effective interventions. The strategic objective of the MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV Project is to enable countries to strengthen national, community, and facility-based systems to generate high quality health information that is used to inform decisions on policies, programs, and resource allocations at all levels of the health system.

The HealthIT project provides ...technical support for health information systems. The activity will contribute to evidence-based decision-making by all health sector stakeholders in Kenya and facilitate the establishment of a local, Kenyan-based key resource for District Health Information System (DHIS2) maintenance, development, and training. The activity will provide local solutions to managing the evolution of DHIS2 and its associated prerequisite sub-systems. Utilizing a health systems strengthening approach to health information systems is a key element to ensure sustainability upon activity completion.
