DATA FOR IMPACT (D4I)
|
Data for Impact (D4I)
|
The USAID-funded Data for Impa...ct (D4I) project is a mechanism for monitoring, evaluation, data analysis and use, and other research needs. D4I is an associate award of the MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV project and is a cross-bureau global health mechanism that supports Missions across health sectors. D4I builds on and reinforces current U.S. government efforts to support countries to generate and use high quality data as evidence to improve programs, policies, and outcomes (https://www.data4impactproject.org). D4I will continue the work of MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV around evaluation, data quality and data use (the specific services are listed below) through the adaptation and use of tools and methodologies developed by MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV and through development of new ones as needed.

|
Engage HCD (Human-Centered Des...ign)
more
|
EngageHCD is a contracting veh...icle available to USAID's Bureau for Global Health and Missions to procure state-of-the-art human-centered design services. Design is a methodology that places people and other critical stakeholders at the center of the design and implementation process. The design methodology s approach to problem solving is iterative, measurable, results-driven, and interdisciplinary. It can help find solutions to issues that are ingrained in global health, such as (i) complexity of navigating and coordinating stakeholder ecosystems, (ii) difficulty in changing user behaviors, (iii) barriers to scaling compelling solutions, (iv) introducing new capabilities and collaboration models through co-creation, and (v) strengthening strategy and implementation planning. Design can drive impact and serve as a complement to our existing programs and partners through accelerating human-centered innovation. For more information on the use of design in global health, see http://www.engagehcd.com/ and https://www.designforhealth.org/. The implementing partners of this mechanism are a consortium of Lunar, Veryday, Matchboxology, PATH, and McKinsey Digital Labs. These partners bring impressive expertise across the intersection of design and global health. Lunar, McKinsey Digital Labs, and Veryday are design studios within McKinsey&Company, and together, constitute one of the largest design firms globally. Matchboxology is Africa s first design firm with over a decade of public health and development experience in the continent. PATH is a trusted partner of governments and communities in 50+countries with a wealth of global health-centric design. This consortium represents a cross-disciplinary team including anthropologists, designers, human-factor engineers, business-model designers, digital experts, and behavior change experts. The mechanism is available for both headquarter and mission buy-in. We encourage proposals and look forward to working with both our Washingt

Medicines, Technologies, and P...harmaceutical Services (MTaPS)
more
|
The goal of MTaPS is to enable... low- and middle-income countries to strengthen their pharmaceutical systems to ensure sustainable access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable essential medical products and medicines-related pharmaceutical services. The purpose of MTaPS is to provide pharmaceutical system strengthening assistance for sustained improvements in health system performance, and to advance USAID s goals of Preventing Child and Maternal Deaths, Controlling the HIV/AIDS Epidemic, and Combatting Infectious Disease Threats, as well as expanding essential health coverage. MTaPS works to strengthen essential areas of the pharmaceutical sector, including regulatory capacity, supply chain management, pharmaceutical financing and services, and pharmaceutical management information systems. Within this context, MTaPS addresses USG priority health elements including malaria, HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, neglected tropical diseases, and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). MTaPS focuses on enhancing pharmaceutical services through patient-centered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The MTaPS result areas address the five health systems components (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) as they pertain to pharmaceutical management, informing the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross-cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.

Health Financing Improvement P...rogram (HFIP)
more
|
Through the USAID Health Finan...cing Improvement Program, Abt and its consortium partners strengthen HCF functions and systems in Ethiopia, and increase local capacities that facilitate sustainable and continuous reform implementation. Our efforts focus on facilitating the nationwide rollout and institutionalization of first-generation reforms (such as health facility boards and revenue retention and utilization) that increase domestic resources for health and improve governance. Were also refining and scaling-up second-generation reforms, including community-based health insurance (CBHI); and exploring new third-generation interventions to further enhance HCF reforms.

Building on decades of USAIDs ...work procuring health commodities and strengthening supply chains, the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management project is working to transform global and national supply chains for health commodities. The project integrates two former USAID programs into one efficient supply chain that serves many of the worlds most vulnerable and difficult-to-reach communities. The project is designed to meet todays critical global health challenges eliminating HIV and AIDS, providing universal malaria coverage, and helping women meet their family planning and reproductive health needs. By bringing together advanced technical solutions, a team of highly qualified experts, and proven commercial processes and principles, USAID Global Health Supply Chain works to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in global and national supply chains. In addition to optimizing supply chains, the project is strengthening national supply chain systems and fostering collaboration among supply chain stakeholders worldwide.

HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEMS
|
Health Information Systems
|
The Health Information Systems... (HIS) project supports USG efforts to strengthen the Ministry of Health's (MOH) capacity to build sustainable health information systems within Haiti. This allows for the Government of Haiti to effectively manage program resources (both host country and donor) and monitor patient outcomes, as well as ensure effective systematic use of health data. Last year HIS assisted the MOH to strengthen their capacity to manage the DHIS-2 platform. This included linking the various information systems to facilitate data analysis and informed resource and management planning. The tuberculosis (TB) tracker was rolled out in order to capture patient level data of tuberculosis patients.

HLP will strengthen the GOH as... steward of the health sector, increasingly in control of its own financial and human resources, over a coordinated system that is less reliant on external partners for equitable delivery of quality health services. In essence, the Project will enhance the capabilities of Haitian partners to direct their own development and reduce dependence on outside sources. In order to achieve this goal, close collaboration with the GOH, relevant USG entities and implementing partners, and international stakeholders is needed. HLP is expected to build upon the successes of recent support for strengthening governance, human resources for health, health financing and advocacy for greater domestic resource mobilization for the health sector. The HLP implementer will conduct activities within two interrelated objectives: Support the GOH in increasing its ability to finance the health sector through more effective and efficient use of existing resources and by mobilizing additional resources; Support the GOH in improving planning and oversight of the health workforce.

Plan India School Water, Sanit...ation and Hygiene (WASH) Project
more
|
This implementing mechanism fo...cuses on government schools in poor urban neighborhoods to improve sanitation facilities and promote the effective use of WASH infrastructure in schools. This activity contributes to the national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission): Swachh Vidyalaya (Clean India: Clean School) program. The activity will construct or rehabilitate gender appropriate toilet facilities that, when combined with menstrual hygiene management outreach, will help reduce girls' absenteeism and promote gender equality. By learning and internalizing healthy practices at schools, students will become agents of change within their communities. The activity will work closely with the School Education Department, Municipal Corporation, and District Administration at all stages. It will also lay the groundwork for scale up through advocacy efforts and exposure visits.

USAID/India will implement a n...ew activity entitled Technical Assistance to the Government of India (GOI) for the Swachh Bharat Mission that is a follow-on to the previous identically named activity. This 'phase.two' will fund national project management units supporting both the Swachh.Bharat (Clean India) and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation. (AMRUT) GOI missions that are working to end open defecation in India. As the Swachh Bharat Mission comes to a close in 2019, AMRUT will continue the work to ensure open defecation free status is maintained and the treatment of liquid wastes is improved in urban areas. USAID's assistance under this activity will directly support the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and provide targeted support to two states and five cities. The activity will scale successful WASH approaches to strengthen governance and policy frameworks, program management, and institutional capacities at national and sub-national levels to plan, budget and monitor WASH progress. The.activity will also build the capacity of municipal officials to accelerate the implementation of key Swachh Bharat components by introducing them to the tools and progress achieved by other cities, which have already made substantial gains under the initiative. The activity will also facilitate public institution engagement with the private sector in WASH value chains by identifying financing needs and options.and developing private sector engagement strategies for municipal governments.
