The strategy recommends that AU Member States should enhance, where feasible, existing COVID-19 surveillance to include:
Community-based surveillance to detect symptomatic cases early for treatment and to avert viral transmission;
Sentinel surveillance in high-risk populations to detect ...and track both presymptomatic and asymptomatic cases; and
Wastewater surveillance to monitor early environmental signs of virus transmission and identify communities where targeted interventions can be implemented to decrease transmission.

Diabetes is a major public health problem in the Americas and worldwide, demanding special attention and integrated response. It is estimated that more than 62 million adults are living with diabetes in the Americas. The projections show that diabetes prevalence will continue to increase to at least... 2025. Its steady rise has been mainly due to the high prevalence of risk factors, especially overweight/obesity and physical inactivity.

A recent study informed that ivermectin was successfully used in vitro for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 in experimentally infected cells and two preprint publications on observational clinical studies reported the apparent utility of ivermectin to treat patients with COVID-19 needing mechanical venti...lation. However, neither of these studies were peer-reviewed nor formally published and one of them was later retracted.
