In northern Myanmar, nearly 100,000 people continue to live in displacement camps in Kachin and northern Shan States. Most were first displaced by fighting between the Myanmar military and the Kachin Independence Army in 2011, and many have been displaced multiple times, including in recent months.

Approaching seven years of displacement, and despite ongoing and often increasing needs, displaced persons in northern Myanmar face decreasing aid and protection services. Over the past two years, the Government of Myanmar has dramatically increased restrictions on delivery of aid to this displaced population at the same time that the overall amount of aid provided by international donors has decreased.

Millions of Syrians have been uprooted from their home communities and forced to flee within their country or to neighbouring countries. The consistent spill-over has drawn global attention not just to the humanitarian crisis facing both local communities and national governments but also to the economic and social strain. The bloodshed wreaked by the different parties continues. The suffering deepens. Belastungsstörung (KPTBS) wird als eigenständige Diagnose in das ICD-11 aufgenommen und tritt als Folge von sich wiederholenden oder langandauernden traumatischen Ereignissen auf. Die KPTBS ist neben den Symptomen der PTBS durch Affektregulationsstörungen, negative Selbstwahrnehmung und Beziehungsstörungen gekennzeichnet. Aktuelle empirische Studien lieferten Hinweise für die Validität dieser Diagnose. Die Exposition in sensu mit dem traumatischen Ereignis steht im Mittelpunkt der als erfolgreich evaluierten Psychotherapien der PTBS und der KPTBS. Zur differenziellen Wirkung einzelner traumafokussierter Verfahren bei KPTBS können jedoch noch keine eindeutigen Empfehlungen ausgesprochen werden.

Gerade im Zusammenhang mit der Anerkennung der Notwendigkeit genderbewusste Konflikttransformationsprozesse in der Projektarbeit zu unterstützen, sind psychosoziale Konzepte und Methoden immer wichtiger geworden. Dennoch ist bei vielen MitarbeiterInnen der IZ nach wie vor wenig bekannt, was mit psychosozial eigentlich gemeint ist. Während die Literatur über Trauma umfangreich, aber unübersichtlich und widersprüchlich ist, fehlt es nach wie vor an knappen und auf die IZ bezogenen Einführungen in die psychosoziale Thematik.
