At the end of the meeting and in the weeks that followed, Ministers of Health from the 11 “High Burden High Impact” African countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Sudan, Uganda and United Republic of Tanzania) signed the Yaoundé Declaration, pledging their “unwavering commitment” to the principle that “no one should die from malaria given the tools and systems available.” Success in reducing malaria morbidity and mortality will hinge on efforts by countries to translate this political commitment into actions and resources that will save lives.

It provides tools to help users integrate MiP into situation analyses, segment audiences, define behavioural objectives and draft strategic communication plans.
MiP poses a significant public health challenge, contributing to maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity in sub-Saharan Africa. Although effective interventions exist, such as the use of insecticide-treated nets, intermittent preventive treatment in pregnancy (IPTp) and timely diagnosis and treatment, their implementation remains inconsistent. The I-Kit supports more effective SBCC planning and implementation, with the aim of increasing the uptake and impact of these interventions and ultimately reducing malaria-related deaths and illness among pregnant women and newborns.

Il précise les objectifs, les résultats attendus, les indicateurs de performance ainsi que les mécanismes de collecte, d’analyse et de dissémination des données sanitaires.
Le document détaille également les responsabilités des acteurs impliqués à tous les niveaux du système de santé (central, régional, périphérique), les outils à utiliser, ainsi que le budget prévu pour la période. Ce document propose une stratégie de communication structurée, basée sur une analyse contextuelle des comportements, croyances et obstacles sociaux. Il cible en priorité les femmes enceintes, les enfants de moins de cinq ans, les agents communautaires, les leaders religieux, les enseignants, et les médias. Les messages sont adaptés aux réalités locales et diffusés par des canaux variés : radios communautaires, théâtre, affiches, séances éducatives, et implication des leaders d'opinion.
Le plan insiste sur l’importance de la mobilisation sociale, de l’approche participative et du dialogue communautaire pour renforcer l’adhésion aux pratiques comme l’utilisation des moustiquaires imprégnées, le recours au test de diagnostic rapide, l’observance des traitements, et la fréquentation des centres de santé. Il prévoit aussi des mécanismes de suivi-évaluation et de renforcement des capacités des acteurs.
En résumé, ce document constitue un cadre opérationnel pour rendre la communication plus efficace, inclusive et durable dans la lutte contre le paludisme en RDC.
