It is now evident that we are living in a world of diabetes pandemic—despite the scientifically sound estimates, worldwide diabetes prevalence has been exceeding even the most pessimistic projections from the past. If we go back in history, it was estimated in 2004 that diabetes prevalence in 2030 ... would reach 366 million people. What actually happened was that the prevalence of 366 million people with diabetes was already reached in 2011, 19 years earlier than initially predicted.
