General description: Le progr...amme a pour objectif de contribuer à améliorer la disponibilité de ressources humaines santé qualifiées et compétentes pour assurer des soins paramédicaux de qualité, avec une attention particulière aux personnes vulnérables (femmes, personnes en situation de handicap) , ainsi qu'une maintenance biomédicale et hospitalière adéquate, et en adéquation avec les besoins du marché du travail . Pour mener à bien cet objectif spécifique, l'APEFE interviendra à différents niveaux de la pyramide sanitaire, du niveau institutionnel au niveau opérationnel, dans le secteur éducatif ainsi que dans le secteur professionnel de la santé. Il s'agit : - Au niveau macro, de renforcer la collaboration des parties prenantes pour l'amélioration de l'adéquat formation-emploi, et de renforcer les capacités organisationnelles et techniques du Ministère de la Santé et les directions techniques concernés en vue de l'amélioration la performance de la formation continue des personnels des services infirmiers, obstétricaux et de réadaptation et de la maintenance biomédicale et hospitalière. - Au niveau meso, de renforcer les capacités organisationnelles et techniques des instituts de formation afin qu'ils proposent une offre de formation initiale de qualité et en adéquation avec les besoins du marché du travail ; - Au niveau micro, de faire bénéficier les ressources humaines en santé (infirmiers, sages-femmes, kinésithérapeutes, aides–soignants, techniciens supérieurs en maintenance biomédicale et hospitalière) d'un service de formation continue qualifiante , en adéquation avec les besoins du marché du travail, et en prenant en compte le genre et l'environnement. Les thèmes environnement, genre, digitalisation, renforcement des capacités, droits de l'homme sont abordés transversalement à la fois parce qu'ils sont considérés comme étant prioritaires par rapport au développement du Bénin et parce qu'ils se retrouvent dans la loi belge sur la coopération au développement. --

This grant covers personnel expenses, operating expenses and equipment costs. The ITG provides post-initial education and scientific services and carries out scientific research in the field of tropical medicine. The management agreement between the ITG and the Flemish Ministry of Education lays down further conditions with regard to the activities of this institution. In 2015, an amount of EUR 10,526,000 was invested in the ITG. According to the management agreement, 40% thereof must be spent on higher education and 40% on scientific research. The remaining 20% is spent on social services for the benefit of poor target groups in developing countries. --

General description: HI et la... DGD ont en commun l'objectif d'atteindre un développement humain durable (article 3, chapitre 2 de la loi 19 Mars 2013, modifiée par la Loi du le 16 Juin 2016). Pour ce faire, HI cherche à mettre en œuvre des activités visant à améliorer la qualité de vie de toutes et tous, et plus particulièrement des personnes handicapées, en gardant toujours à l'esprit l'éradication de la pauvreté, l'exclusion et les inégalités par des activités d'inclusion et l'accès aux services. Au travers de ce projet, HI est en phase avec les notes stratégiques de la DGD. Ainsi, les 3 OS de ce programme s'inscrivent dans la lignée de la note stratégique de la DGD relative au droit à la santé et aux soins de santé . En effet, ce projet vise à renforcer le secteur de la santé et à renforcer le système de santé au Rwanda, notamment en favorisant la formation de meilleure qualité pour un plus grand nombre de personnel de santé et d'améliorer la qualité et l'accessibilité des soins de santé. Le projet de HI est également en conformité avec le droit de la politique stratégique de la DGD concernant les enfants dans le secteur de la santé, qui encourage les pays partenaires à stimuler les programmes qui organisent des soins adaptés aux enfants handicapés préconisant une approche multidisciplinaire de la notion de handicap dans les soins de santé. --

Background: Door CRB personeel...sleden, CRB vrijwilligers en leken op te leiden in eerste hulp wordt de bevolking van Burundi zelfredzaam gemaakt. Bovendien is er een duurzaam multiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers ' (11.787 directe begunstigden en 66.135 indirecte begunstigden). De aanwezigheid van dergelijke 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een systemisch gebrek aan basisgezondheidsinfrastructuur, zeker in tijden waarin de kans op politiek geweld een reële dreiging is. De slechte staat van de wegen en het gebrek aan tijdige hulp na een ongeval, verhogen daarnaast de menselijke tol van verkeersongevallen. Deze interventie richt zich in de eerste plaats op de CRB hoofdzetel in Bujumbura, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de ongevallen die plaats vinden verspreid over het hele land. De trainingscapaciteit van CRB zal worden versterkt met 91 eerstehulptrainers waaronder 6 master trainers. Ook wordt een opleiding eerste hulp en verkeersveiligheid ontwikkeld. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van CRB versterken door hen in staat te stellen financieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Hierdoor garanderen we een grotere duurzaamheid van de activiteiten. RKV wil dit doen door CRB te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van bedrijfseerstehulp. Dit doen we in de eerste plaats via kennisoverdracht (workshops rond marketing en het opzetten van een kostenmodel). De uitbouw van bedrijfseerstehulp ligt in lijn met de 'Waardig Werk' prioriteiten van Burundi rond veiligheid en preventie op de werkvloer. Naast zelfredzaamheid is impact een belangrijke focus van het RKV programma in Burundi. Een studie van de Wereldbank toont aan dat het investeren in de opleiding van eerstehulp vrijwilligers één van de meest kosteneffectieve interventies is met een kost van slechts 8 US$ per vermeden DALY . Bovendien investeert RKV via het CEBaP continu in onderzoek naar interventiestrategieën met de meeste impact. Zo onderzoeken we onder andere het effect van simulaties in eerstehulpopleidingen of welke eerstehulpkennis op welke leeftijd kan onthouden worden. De resultaten van deze onderzoeken zijn geïntegreerd in RKV'seerstehulp-ondersteuning aan CRB. Daarnaast heeft het CEBaP evidence-based eerstehulprichtlijnen uitgewerkt die volledig aangepast zijn aan de Afrikaanse context. Het eerstehulpopleidingsmateriaal van CRB zal op basis hiervan herzien worden zodat steeds de meest doeltreffende eerstehulppraktijken worden aangeleerd. Gedurende alle fases van de interventie, wordt een gender-sensitieve benadering gehanteerd: in de eerstehulptrainingen wordt aandacht geschonken aan situaties die specifiek van toepassing zijn op vrouwen, zoals bevallingen zonder medische assistentie. The management agreement between the ITG and the Flemish Ministry of Education lays down further conditions with regard to the activities of this institution. In 2015, an amount of EUR 10,526,000 was invested in the ITG. According to the management agreement, 40% thereof must be spent on higher education and 40% on scientific research. The remaining 20% is spent on social services for the benefit of poor target groups in developing countries.

Background: Door CVMO personee...lsleden, CVMO vrijwilligers en leken op te leiden in eerste hulp wordt de bevolking van Mozambique zelfredzaam gemaakt. Bovendien is er een duurzaam multiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers ' (2.155 directe begunstigden en 32.480 indirecte begunstigden). De aanwezigheid van lokale 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een systemisch gebrek aan basisgezondheidsinfrastructuur, zeker in tijden waarin de kans op politiek geweld een reële dreiging is. Deze interventie richt zich in de eerste plaats op de CVMO hoofdzetel in Maputo, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen verspreid over het volledige land, wat mogelijk wordt gemaakt door CVMO's 101 sub-branches die op districtsniveau actief zijn. De trainingscapaciteit van CVMO zal worden versterkt. met 26 eerstehulptrainers en 3 master trainers. Dankzij de synergie met Apopo en Artsen Zonder Grenzen zullen we ook hun doelgroepen kunnen bereiken met een eerstehulpopleiding. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van CVMO versterken door hen in staat te stellen financieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Door CVMO meer zelfredzaam te maken, garanderen we een grotere duur-zaamheid van eerstehulpactiviteiten. RKV wil dit doen door CVMO te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van bedrijfseerstehulp. Dit doen we zowel via kennisoverdracht (workshops rond marketing en het opzetten van een kostenmodel) als via een onder-steuning van hun humanitaire diplomatie die bijvoorbeeld eerstehulplessen of hulpposten verplicht moet maken. De uitbouw van bedrijfseerstehulp ligt in lijn met de 'Waardig Werk' prioriteiten van Mozambique rond veiligheid en preventie op de werkvloer. Naast zelfredzaamheid is impact een belangrijke focus van het RKV programma in Mozambique. Een studie van de Wereld-bank toont aan dat het investeren in de opleiding van eerstehulpvrijwilligers één van de meest kosteneffectieve interventies is met een kost van slechts 8 US$ per DALY . Bovendien investeert RKV via haar CEBaP continu in onderzoek naar interventiestra-tegieën met de meeste impact. Zo onderzoeken we het effect van simulaties in eerstehulpopleidingen of welke eerstehulpken-nis op welke leeftijd kan onthouden worden. De resultaten van deze onderzoeken zijn geïntegreerd in RKV's eerstehulponder-steuning aan CVMO. Daarnaast heeft het CEBaP evidence-based eerstehulprichtlijnen uitgewerkt die volledig aangepast zijn aan de Afrikaanse context ('AFAM', African First Aid Materials'). Het eerstehulpopleidingsmateriaal van CVMO zal op basis hiervan herzien worden zodat steeds de meest doeltreffende eerstehulppraktijken worden aangeleerd. Background: In eerste hulp heb...ben RKV en NRCS reeds 20 jaar geïnvesteerd in de opbouw van kwaliteitsvolle en duurzame eerste hulpdiensten, met als resultaat dat NRCS dé leidende organisatie is in Nepal rond eerste hulp. Hierdoor wordt de bevolking van Nepal zelfredzaam gemaakt. De aanwezigheid van deze lokale 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een hoge frequentie aan natuurrampen en een systemisch gebrek aan nodige gezondheids-infrastructuur, zeker in afgelegen en bergachtige gebieden. Na de aardbeving in 2015 waren het bijvoorbeeld 8.000 lokale Rode Kruis vrijwilligers, die onmiddellijk na de aardbeving en lang voor buitenlandse teams aankwamen, slachtoffers uit het puin haalden en eerste hulp toedienden. Het eerste hulp/verkeersveiligheidsluik 2017-18 is gefocust op een duurzame finale verankering bij NRCS en richt zich op 4 pijlers: 576 leken opleiden in eerste hulp en verkeersveiligheid binnen 'highway communities'. Dit in de districten Saptarien Morang langs de Mohendra snelweg. Dit is één van de druktste verkeersaders in Nepal. Dit versterkt aanzienlijk de zelfredzaamheid van gemeenschappen die getroffen worden door een hoog aantal verkeersongevallen (150 verkeersdoden jaarlijks in deze 2 districten); Bevestigen van NRCS als leidende organisatie in Nepal rond verkeersveiligheid. Via het nationaal verkeersveiligheid awareness netwerk, in samenwerking met de Nepalese politie, worden 146.000 mensen bereikt; Uitrollen van de recent ontwikkelde gender-sensitieve en evidence-based Nepal First Aid Materials (NeFAM); bestendigen van eerste hulp binnen NRCS via het opleiden en opfrissen van eerste hulp bij 720 Rode Kruisvrijwilligers/personeelsleden én het verankeren van bedrijfseerstehulp als financieel duurzame manier voor NRCS om eigen middelen te investeren in haar eerstehulpdiensten.

Background: Eerste hulp door R...RCS personeelsleden, RRCS vrijwilligers en leken op te leiden in eerste hulp wordt de bevolking van Rwanda zelfredzaam gemaakt. Bovendien is er een duurzaam multiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers' (461 directe begunstigden en 10.405 indirecte begunstigden). De aanwezigheid van dergelijke 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een ongelijke toegang tot basisgezondheidsinfrastructuur. Deze interventie richt zich in de eerste plaats op de RRCS hoofdzetel in Kigali, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen die plaats vinden verspreid over het hele land. De trainingscapaciteit van RRCS zal worden versterkt met 10 nieuwe en 60 bijgeschoolde eerstehulptrainers en 11 master trainers. Ook zullen er 24 trainers een opleiding krijgen in EH-simulatie, zodat de deelnemers tijdens de trainingen letsels en ziektes waarheidsgetrouw leren behandelen. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van RRCS versterken door hen in staat te stellen financieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Hierdoor garanderen we een grotere duurzaamheid van de activiteiten. RKV wil dit doen door RRCS te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van bedrijfseerstehulp. Background: HI et la DGD ont e...n commun l'objectif d'atteindre un développement humain durable (article 3, chapitre 2 de la loi 19 Mars 2013, modifiée par la Loi du le 16 Juin 2016). Pour ce faire, HI cherche à mettre en œuvre des activités visant à améliorer la qualité de vie de toutes et tous, et plus particulièrement des personnes handicapées, en gardant toujours à l'esprit l'éradication de la pauvreté, l'exclusion et les inégalités par des activités d'inclusion et l'accès aux services. Au travers de ce projet, HI est en phase avec les notes stratégiques de la DGD. Ainsi, les 3 OS de ce programme s'inscrivent dans la lignée de la note stratégique de la DGD relative au droit à la santé et aux soins de santé . En effet, ce projet vise à renforcer le secteur de la santé et à renforcer le système de santé au Rwanda, notamment en favorisant la formation de meilleure qualité pour un plus grand nombre de personnel de santé et d'améliorer la qualité et l'accessibilité des soins de santé. Le projet de HI est également en conformité avec le droit de la politique stratégique de la DGD concernant les enfants dans le secteur de la santé, qui encourage les pays partenaires à stimuler les programmes qui organisent des soins adaptés aux enfants handicapés préconisant une approche multidisciplinaire de la notion de handicap dans les soins de santé.

Background: In onze activiteit...en, kiezen we voor eerstehulponderricht. Door SARCS personeelsleden, SARCS vrijwilligers en leken op te leiden in eerste hulp wordt de bevolking van Zuid-Afrika zelfredzaam gemaakt. Bovendien is er een duurzaam multiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers ' (2.765 directe begunstigden en 72.072 indirecte be-gunstigden). De aanwezigheid van 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een uitgestrekt land dat geteisterd wordt door verschillende (overdraagbare) ziektes zoals HIV/AIDS terwijl de toegang tot gezondheidszorg voor de meest kwetsbaren geen evidentie is. Het programma richt zich in de eerste plaats op de SARCS hoofdzetel in Johannesburg, die in staat zal worden ge-steld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen verspreid over de 6 provincies waar SARCS actief is. Daarnaast werden 4 provincies geselecteerd (Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Eastern Cape et Limpopo) waarin een intensief eerstehulpopleidingstraject zal worden aangegaan. De trainingscapaciteit van SARCS zal worden versterkt met 50 eerstehulpinstructeurs, 10 master trainers en 5 eerstehulpexaminators. Al deze zullen een educatief traject volgen zodat ze door de overheid geaccrediteerd zijn om eerstehulptrainingen te geven. Dankzij de synergie met VVOB kunnen we ook hun lokaal personeel opleiden in eerste hulp. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van SARCS versterken door hen in staat te stellen fi-nancieel te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Door SARCS meer zelfredzaam te maken, beogen we een grotere duurzaamheid van eerstehulpactiviteiten. RKV wil dit doen door SARCS te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van be-drijfseerstehulp. Dit doen we zowel via kennisoverdracht als via ondersteuning in het ontwikkelen van een gevarieerd eerstehulpopleidingenaanbod dat verschillende doelgroepen aanspreekt. De uitbouw van bedrijfseerstehulp ligt in lijn met de 'Waardig Werk' prioriteiten van Zuid-Afrika rond veiligheid en preventie op de werkvloer. Belangrijk om te melden is dat SARCS zich in een herstelperiode bevindt na een periode van institutionele crisis. Recent is een opnieuw een nationaal kantoor opgezet in Johannesburg. Aan het hoofd staat een nieuwe nieuwe CEO en een nieuwe raad van bestuur, opgezet volgens de Companies Act van Zuid-Afrika. Institutionele hervormingen zijn doorgevoerd zoals een centrale boekhouding en een organisatie audit. Voor RKV en andere Rode Kruis partners is het nu de opdracht om SARCS te ondersteunen in haar doelstelling om opnieuw de leidende nationale humanitaire organisatie in Zuid-Afrika te worden. RKV kan SARCS ondersteunen in dit proces door de focus op opleidingen en de nationale trainingsstructuur mee te herstellen. RKV erkent deze fragiele status van SARCS en dit programma mikt expliciet op capaciteitsopbouw naar betere dienstverlening rond eerste hulp bij de Zuid-Afrikaanse bevolking. Deze interventie richt zich in de eerste plaats op de TRCS hoofdzetel in Dar Es Salaam, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen met een focus op de 4 uit 7 pilootregio's Dodoma, Mbeya, Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Morogoro, Kagera en Dar Es Salaam. De geüpdatete baseline zal de keuze bepalen. De trainingscapaciteit van TRCS zal worden versterkt met 30 eerstehulptrainers en 5 master trainers. Dankzij de synergie met VIA Don Bosco plannen we ook hun doelgroepen te kunnen bereiken met een eerstehulpopleiding. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van TRCS versterken door hen in staat te stellen finan-cieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Background: In onze activiteit...en, kiezen we voor eerstehulponderricht. Door ZRCS personeelsleden, ZRCS vrijwilligers en leken op te leiden in eerste hulp wordt de bevolking van Zimbabwe zelfredzaam gemaakt. Bovendien is er een duurzaam mul-tiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers ' (2.310 directe begunstigden en 84.786 indirecte begun-stigden). De aanwezigheid van 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een systemisch gebrek aan nodige gezondheidsinfrastructuur, zeker in tijden waarbij de kans op politiek geweld een reële dreiging is. Het programma richt zich in de eerste plaats op de ZRCS hoofdzetel in Harare, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen verspreid over het volledige land, via 4 nationale trainingscentra in Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare en Harare. De trainingscapaciteit van ZRCS zal worden versterkt met 45 eerstehulptrainers. Dankzij de samenwerking met de Belgische NGO Africalia kunnen we ook hun doelgroep opleiden in eerste hulp. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van ZRCS versterken door hen in staat te stellen finan-cieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Door ZRCS meer zelfredzaam te maken, garanderen we een grotere duurzaamheid van eerstehulpactiviteiten. RKV wil dit doen door ZRCS te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van bedrijfseerstehulp. Dit doen we zowel via kennisoverdracht (workshops rond marketing en het opzetten van een kostenmodel) als via een ondersteuning van hun humanitaire diplomatie die bijvoorbeeld eerstehulplessen of hulp-posten verplicht moet maken. De uitbouw van bedrijfseerstehulp ligt in lijn met de 'Waardig Werk' prioriteiten van Zimbabwe rond veiligheid en preventie op de werkvloer. Naast zelfredzaamheid is impact een belangrijke focus van het RKV programma in Zimbabwe. Een studie van de Wereldbank toont aan dat het investeren in de opleiding van eerstehulpvrijwilligers één van de meest kosteneffectie-ve interventies is met een kost van slechts 8 US$ per Disability Adjusted Life Year averted (DALY) . Bovendien inves-teert RKV via haar 'Center for Evidence-Based Practice' continu in onderzoek naar interventiestrategieën met de mees-te impact. Zo onderzoeken we het effect van simulaties in eerstehulpopleidingen of welke eerstehulpkennis op welke leeftijd kan onthouden worden. De resultaten van deze onderzoeken zijn geïntegreerd in RKV's eerstehulpondersteu-ning aan ZRCS. Daarnaast heeft het 'Center for Evidence-Based Practice' evidence-based eerstehulprichtlijnen uitge-werkt die volledig aangepast zijn aan de Afrikaanse context ('AFAM', African First Aid Materials'). Bovendien is er een duurzaam multiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers ' (11.787 directe begunstigden en 66.135 indirecte begunstigden). De aanwezigheid van dergelijke 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een systemisch gebrek aan basisgezondheidsinfrastructuur, zeker in tijden waarin de kans op politiek geweld een reële dreiging is. De slechte staat van de wegen en het gebrek aan tijdige hulp na een ongeval, verhogen daarnaast de menselijke tol van verkeersongevallen. Deze interventie richt zich in de eerste plaats op de CRB hoofdzetel in Bujumbura, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de ongevallen die plaats vinden verspreid over het hele land. De trainingscapaciteit van CRB zal worden versterkt met 91 eerstehulptrainers waaronder 6 master trainers. Ook wordt een opleiding eerste hulp en verkeersveiligheid ontwikkeld. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van CRB versterken door hen in staat te stellen financieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Hierdoor garanderen we een grotere duurzaamheid van de activiteiten. RKV wil dit doen door CRB te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van bedrijfseerstehulp. Dit doen we in de eerste plaats via kennisoverdracht (workshops rond marketing en het opzetten van een kostenmodel). The management agreement between the ITG and the Flemish Ministry of Education lays down further conditions with regard to the activities of this institution. In 2015, an amount of EUR 10,526,000 was invested in the ITG. According to the management agreement, 40% thereof must be spent on higher education and 40% on scientific research. The remaining 20% is spent on social services for the benefit of poor target groups in developing countries.

Background: 'Rode Kruis-Vlaand...eren (RKV) helpt helpen' is de slogan die het 17-21 programma in Madagaskar samenvat. Enerzijds verwijst dit naar de focus op zelfredzaamheid, anderzijds naar de focus op impact. Mensen zelfredzaam maken is de manier bij uitstek om een duurzame impact te hebben. Zowel RKV's interventiestrategie als de keuze van activiteiten in Madagaskar zijn gebaseerd op het idee van zelfredzaamheid. RKV's interventiestrategie heeft als kernprincipe dat de implementatie van het programma geleid en gedragen wordt door de lokale Rode Kruis vereniging en haar vrijwilligers. RKV neemt een ondersteunende rol op zich maar zal zelf geen directe implementatie doen. Het 17-21 programma, met een totaalbudget van 737.471 EUR, wordt dan ook getrokken door het Croix-Rouge Malagasy (CRM). Het programma is op vraag van en in nauwe samenwerking met CRM opgesteld. CRM is ook de grootste nationale humanitaire organisatie van Madagaskar en is actief in het volledige land. In onze activiteiten, kiezen we voor eerstehulponderricht. De slechte staat van de wegen en het gebrek aan tijdige hulp na een ongeval, verhogen daarnaast de menselijke tol van verkeersongevallen. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van CRM versterken door hen in staat te stellen financieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. De aanwezigheid van lokale 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een systemisch gebrek aan basisgezondheidsinfrastructuur, zeker in tijden waarin de kans op politiek geweld een reële dreiging is. Deze interventie richt zich in de eerste plaats op de CVMO hoofdzetel in Maputo, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen verspreid over het volledige land, wat mogelijk wordt gemaakt door CVMO's 101 sub-branches die op districtsniveau actief zijn. De trainingscapaciteit van CVMO zal worden versterkt. met 26 eerstehulptrainers en 3 master trainers. Dankzij de synergie met Apopo en Artsen Zonder Grenzen zullen we ook hun doelgroepen kunnen bereiken met een eerstehulpopleiding. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van CVMO versterken door hen in staat te stellen financieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Door CVMO meer zelfredzaam te maken, garanderen we een grotere duur-zaamheid van eerstehulpactiviteiten. RKV wil dit doen door CVMO te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van bedrijfseerstehulp. De aanwezigheid van dergelijke 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een ongelijke toegang tot basisgezondheidsinfrastructuur. Deze interventie richt zich in de eerste plaats op de RRCS hoofdzetel in Kigali, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen die plaats vinden verspreid over het hele land. De trainingscapaciteit van RRCS zal worden versterkt met 10 nieuwe en 60 bijgeschoolde eerstehulptrainers en 11 master trainers. Ook zullen er 24 trainers een opleiding krijgen in EH-simulatie, zodat de deelnemers tijdens de trainingen letsels en ziektes waarheidsgetrouw leren behandelen. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van RRCS versterken door hen in staat te stellen financieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Background: In onze activiteit...en, kiezen we voor eerstehulponderricht. Door SARCS personeelsleden, SARCS vrijwilligers en leken op te leiden in eerste hulp wordt de bevolking van Zuid-Afrika zelfredzaam gemaakt. Bovendien is er een duurzaam multiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers ' (2.765 directe begunstigden en 72.072 indirecte be-gunstigden). De aanwezigheid van 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een uitgestrekt land dat geteisterd wordt door verschillende (overdraagbare) ziektes zoals HIV/AIDS terwijl de toegang tot gezondheidszorg voor de meest kwetsbaren geen evidentie is. Het programma richt zich in de eerste plaats op de SARCS hoofdzetel in Johannesburg, die in staat zal worden ge-steld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen verspreid over de 6 provincies waar SARCS actief is. Daarnaast werden 4 provincies geselecteerd (Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Eastern Cape et Limpopo) waarin een intensief eerstehulpopleidingstraject zal worden aangegaan. De trainingscapaciteit van SARCS zal worden versterkt met 50 eerstehulpinstructeurs, 10 master trainers en 5 eerstehulpexaminators. Al deze zullen een educatief traject volgen zodat ze door de overheid geaccrediteerd zijn om eerstehulptrainingen te geven. Dankzij de synergie met VVOB kunnen we ook hun lokaal personeel opleiden in eerste hulp. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van SARCS versterken door hen in staat te stellen fi-nancieel te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Door SARCS meer zelfredzaam te maken, beogen we een grotere duurzaamheid van eerstehulpactiviteiten. RKV wil dit doen door SARCS te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van be-drijfseerstehulp. Dit doen we zowel via kennisoverdracht als via ondersteuning in het ontwikkelen van een gevarieerd eerstehulpopleidingenaanbod dat verschillende doelgroepen aanspreekt. De uitbouw van bedrijfseerstehulp ligt in lijn met de 'Waardig Werk' prioriteiten van Zuid-Afrika rond veiligheid en preventie op de werkvloer. Belangrijk om te melden is dat SARCS zich in een herstelperiode bevindt na een periode van institutionele crisis. Recent is een opnieuw een nationaal kantoor opgezet in Johannesburg. Aan het hoofd staat een nieuwe nieuwe CEO en een nieuwe raad van bestuur, opgezet volgens de Companies Act van Zuid-Afrika. Institutionele hervormingen zijn doorgevoerd zoals een centrale boekhouding en een organisatie audit. Voor RKV en andere Rode Kruis partners is het nu de opdracht om SARCS te ondersteunen in haar doelstelling om opnieuw de leidende nationale humanitaire organisatie in Zuid-Afrika te worden. RKV kan SARCS ondersteunen in dit proces door de focus op opleidingen en de nationale trainingsstructuur mee te herstellen. RKV erkent deze fragiele status van SARCS en dit programma mikt expliciet op capaciteitsopbouw naar betere dienstverlening rond eerste hulp bij de Zuid-Afrikaanse bevolking. Background: Eerste hulp Door T...RCS personeelsleden, TRCS vrijwilligers en leken op te leiden in eerste hulp wordt de bevolking van Tanzania zelfredzaam gemaakt. Bovendien is er een duurzaam multiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers ' (451 directe begunstigden en 4.850 indirecte begunstigden). De aanwezigheid van lokale'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een systemisch gebrek aan basisgezondheidsinfrastructuur. Deze interventie richt zich in de eerste plaats op de TRCS hoofdzetel in Dar Es Salaam, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen met een focus op de 4 uit 7 pilootregio's Dodoma, Mbeya, Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Morogoro, Kagera en Dar Es Salaam. De geüpdatete baseline zal de keuze bepalen. De trainingscapaciteit van TRCS zal worden versterkt met 30 eerstehulptrainers en 5 master trainers. Dankzij de synergie met VIA Don Bosco plannen we ook hun doelgroepen te kunnen bereiken met een eerstehulpopleiding. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van TRCS versterken door hen in staat te stellen finan-cieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Door TRCS meer zelfredzaam te maken, garanderen we een grotere duurzaamheid van eerstehulpactiviteiten. RKV wil dit doen door TRCS te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van bedrijfseerstehulp. Dit doen we in de eerste plaats via kennisoverdracht (workshops rond marketing en het opzetten van een kostenmodel). De uitbouw van bedrijfseerstehulp ligt in lijn met de 'Waardig Werk' prioriteiten van Tanzania rond veiligheid en preventie op de werkvloer. Naast zelfredzaamheid is impact een belangrijke focus van het RKV programma in Tanzania. Een studie van de We-reldbank toont aan dat het investeren in de opleiding van eerstehulpvrijwilligers één van de meest kosteneffectieve interventies is met een kost van slechts 8 US$ per DALY averted . Bovendien investeert RKV via het CEBaP continu in onderzoek naar interventiestrategieën met de meeste impact. Zo onderzoeken we het effect van simulaties in eerste-hulpopleidingen of welke eerstehulpkennis op welke leeftijd kan onthouden worden. De resultaten van deze onder-zoeken zijn geïntegreerd in RKV's eerstehulpondersteuning aan TRCS. Daarnaast heeft het CEBaP evidence-based eerstehulprichtlijnen uitgewerkt die volledig aangepast zijn aan de Afrikaanse context ('AFAM', African First Aid Mate-rials'). Het eerstehulpopleidingsmateriaal van TRCS zal op basis hiervan herzien worden zodat steeds de meest doel-treffende praktijken in eerste hulp worden aangeleerd. Door ZRCS personeelsleden, ZRCS vrijwilligers en leken op te leiden in eerste hulp wordt de bevolking van Zimbabwe zelfredzaam gemaakt. Bovendien is er een duurzaam mul-tiplicator effect door het opleiden van de 'master trainers ' (2.310 directe begunstigden en 84.786 indirecte begun-stigden). De aanwezigheid van 'First Responders' is van groot belang in een land dat kampt met een systemisch gebrek aan nodige gezondheidsinfrastructuur, zeker in tijden waarbij de kans op politiek geweld een reële dreiging is. Het programma richt zich in de eerste plaats op de ZRCS hoofdzetel in Harare, die in staat zal worden gesteld om een kwalitatieve ondersteuning te bieden aan de eerstehulpopleidingen verspreid over het volledige land, via 4 nationale trainingscentra in Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare en Harare. De trainingscapaciteit van ZRCS zal worden versterkt met 45 eerstehulptrainers. Dankzij de samenwerking met de Belgische NGO Africalia kunnen we ook hun doelgroep opleiden in eerste hulp. Naast het opleiden in eerste hulp, wil RKV de zelfredzaamheid van ZRCS versterken door hen in staat te stellen finan-cieel autonoom te investeren in eerstehulpactiviteiten. Door ZRCS meer zelfredzaam te maken, garanderen we een grotere duurzaamheid van eerstehulpactiviteiten. RKV wil dit doen door ZRCS te ondersteunen in het uitbouwen van bedrijfseerstehulp. This project aims to increase ...access to, and use of, maternal and child health and disability (MCHD) services and contribute to a reduction in mortality and disability rates in Bangladesh, where the infant and maternal mortality rates are among the highest in the world. By strengthening and building on existing community health services, the project establishes interprofessional teams of community health and rehabilitation personnel with the capacity to respond to MCHD needs, and raises awareness among community members about the importance of using such services. Over 1,000 maternal, child health and disability workers, community health workers, policy makers and 12,000 community members are expected to benefit from training, education, policy advice and coordination. Queen's University is working in partnership with the Centre for Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (Bangladesh) and the Bangladesh Health Professions Institute to implement this project. This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. The maximum CIDA contribution to this project includes $10,000 for monitoring purposes. / Ce projet vise à augmenter l'accès et l'utilisation des services de santé pour les mères et les enfants et les handicapés, tout en contribuant à la réduction des taux de mortalité et de handicapes au Bangladesh, où les taux de mortalité des nouveau-nés et des mères sont parmi les plus élevés au monde. En renforçant et développant les services de santé existants, le projet établit des équipes interprofessionnelles du personnel en réhabilitation et en santé communautaire qui a la capacité à répondre aux besoins en matière de santé des mères et des enfants et des handicapés, tout en augmentant la sensibilisation au sein des membres des communautés au sujet de l'importance d'utiliser de tels services. Plus de 1 000 travailleurs en santé pour les enfants et les handicapés, ainsi que de travailleurs en santé communautaire, de décideurs et 12 000 membres des communautés, bénéficient de la formation, de l'éducation, et de conseils en matière de politiques et de coordination. This project aims to improve m...aternal, neonatal and child health (MNCH) in underserved populations of 26 districts and sub-districts of Ghana, Mali, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Reaching over 1.85 million people, including families and community health workers, the project uses a community-based approach and works to improve the quality of community outreach and MNCH services while encouraging health-seeking behaviours, and improved health care management. Activities include: training government health workers on basic obstetric and neonatal care, safe deliveries, and management of childhood illnesses; training health facility managers to strengthen quality control; equipping 63 health facilities and 30 maternity wards; conducting home visits for postnatal care; and helping communities address traditional cultural views impeding the use of health services. Plan Canada is working with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, UNICEF and ministries of health, to implement this project. This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. / Ce projet améliore la santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants des populations négligées dans 26 districts et sous-districts du Ghana, du Mali, d'Éthiopie, du Bangladesh et du Zimbabwe. Rejoignant plus de 1,85 millions de personnes, y compris des familles et des travailleurs en santé communautaire, le projet utilise une approche communautaire et travaille à améliorer la qualité de sensibilisation communautaire et des services de santé maternelle, tout en encourageant des comportements qui recherchent des soins de santé et une gestion des soins de santé améliorée. Les activités comprennent la formation de travailleurs de la santé du gouvernement sur les soins obstétriques et néonatals, des accouchements sécuritaires, et la gestion de maladies infantiles. The Uniterra program focuses on strengthening the capacity of 225 key organizations that work in private sector development, governance, health, and education. More specifically, the program focuses on improving access to health and education services, markets, and political participation; fostering equality between women and men; engaging organizations in political dialogue in specific sectoral issues; and raising awareness among Canadians of national, regional, and global issues with regards to private sector development, governance, health, education, and equality between women and men. The Uniterra program is jointly operated by the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and World University Services of Canada (WUSC). / Le programme de volontariat international Uniterra vise à contribuer par des approches sectorielles nationales et régionales à la réduction de la pauvreté et au développement durable dans 13 pays en développement avec l appui de 2 500 volontaires. Le programme Uniterra est axé sur le renforcement des capacités de 225 organisations clés du secteur privé, de la gouvernance, de la santé et de l éducation. The Uniterra international vol...untary program aims to contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable development through national and regional sectoral approaches in 13 developing countries with the support of 2,500 volunteers. The Uniterra program focuses on strengthening the capacity of 225 key organizations that work in private sector development, governance, health, and education. More specifically, the program focuses on improving access to health and education services, markets, and political participation; fostering equality between women and men; engaging organizations in political dialogue in specific sectoral issues; and raising awareness among Canadians of national, regional, and global issues with regards to private sector development, governance, health, education, and equality between women and men. The Uniterra program is jointly operated by the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and World University Services of Canada (WUSC). / Le programme de volontariat international Uniterra vise à contribuer par des approches sectorielles nationales et régionales à la réduction de la pauvreté et au développement durable dans 13 pays en développement avec l appui de 2 500 volontaires. Le programme Uniterra est axé sur le renforcement des capacités de 225 organisations clés du secteur privé, de la gouvernance, de la santé et de l éducation. Plus particulièrement, il vise à : améliorer l accès aux services de santé et d éducaion, aux marchés et à la participation politique; favoriser l égalité entre les femmes et les hommes; engager les organisations dans le dialogue sur les politiques en lien avec les enjeux de leur secteur; sensibiliser les Canadiens et les Canadiennes aux enjeux nationaux, régionaux et mondiaux autour du secteur privé, de la gouvernance, de la santé, de l éducation et de l égalité entre les femmes et les hommes. This project aims to implement... a sustainable training program in ergonomics to improve male and female workers health and increase the safety of Chilean women s working conditions. This project includes the training of two students in a professional Master s program in ergonomics at UQAM, allowing them to perform ergonomic interventions and teach ergonomics in Chile. As part of this project, 14 inspectors from the Ministries of Health and Labour and 14 union and community representatives are trained in ergonomics and gender. Activities also include an international seminar which brings together experts to share knowledge and good practices for improving workplace health interventions in Chile, while making them more gender-sensitive. / Ce projet a pour but de mettre en oeuvre un programme de formation durable en matière d ergonomie afin d améliorer la santé des travailleurs et des travailleuses et rendre les conditions de travail des femmes chiliennes plus sécuritaires. Ce projet vise dans un premier temps la formation de deux étudiants à la maîtrise professionnelle en ergonomie de l UQAM, leur permettant de réaliser des interventions ergonomiques et de donner des cours en ergonomie au Chili. Dans un deuxième temps, 14 inspecteurs des ministères de la Santé et du Travail ainsi que 14 intervenants des syndicats et des milieux communautaires reçoivent une formation courte en ergonomie et genre. Le projet vise également l organisation d un séminaire international réunissant des experts pour échanger sur les connaissances de base et les approches les plus prometteuses pour améliorer les interventions en santé au travail au Chili en tenant compte du genre.

The project aims to provide su...pport to the health system at the peripheral level in the Kinshasa province. More precisely, it helps three health zones in the N'sele district and four health zones in the La Funa district to develop the administrative and technical capacities allowing them to offer quality essential services that are more accessible financially and geographically. It also aims to develop and reinforce the leadership capacity of the management teams to allow for an effective and efficient management of the health system. The project activities mainly focus on developing and building the technical and administrative capacities of health officials and managers of health facilities in the seven targeted zones. / Le projet fournit un appui au niveau périphérique du système de santé de la province de Kinshasa. Plus précisément, il permet à trois zones de santé dans le district de N'sele et à quatre zones de santé dans le district de la Funa de développer les capacités administratives et techniques nécessaires pour offrir des services essentiels de qualité et plus accessibles financièrement et géographiquement. Il vise également à développer les capacités d'encadrement des équipes cadres pour permettre une gestion efficace et efficiente du système de santé. Les activités du projet se concentrent sur le développement et le renforcement des capacités administratives et techniques des agents de santé et des équipes cadres d'établissements de santé dans les sept zones de santé ciblées par le projet.

This project aims to improve m...aternal, neonatal and child health (MNCH) in underserved populations of 26 districts and sub-districts of Ghana, Mali, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Reaching over 1.85 million people, including families and community health workers, the project uses a community-based approach and works to improve the quality of community outreach and MNCH services while encouraging health-seeking behaviours, and improved health care management. Activities include: training government health workers on basic obstetric and neonatal care, safe deliveries, and management of childhood illnesses; training health facility managers to strengthen quality control; equipping 63 health facilities and 30 maternity wards; conducting home visits for postnatal care; and helping communities address traditional cultural views impeding the use of health services. Plan Canada is working with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, UNICEF and ministries of health, to implement this project. This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. / Ce projet améliore la santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants des populations négligées dans 26 districts et sous-districts du Ghana, du Mali, d'Éthiopie, du Bangladesh et du Zimbabwe. Rejoignant plus de 1,85 millions de personnes, y compris des familles et des travailleurs en santé communautaire, le projet utilise une approche communautaire et travaille à améliorer la qualité de sensibilisation communautaire et des services de santé maternelle, tout en encourageant des comportements qui recherchent des soins de santé et une gestion des soins de santé améliorée. Les activités comprennent la formation de travailleurs de la santé du gouvernement sur les soins obstétriques et néonatals, des accouchements sécuritaires, et la gestion de maladies infantiles. The goal of this project is to... strengthen Ethiopia s health systems in order to deliver effective maternal, newborn and child health services to nomadic communities in the Omo Valley. Using a community-based approach, the project aims to: increase the number of pregnant women accessing health services; increase the proportion of health facilities providing comprehensive health care; and reduce nutritional deficiencies that affect safe childbirth and development. Activities include: training midwives and health workers on emergency obstetric and newborn care, and the diagnosis and treatment of HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and waterborne diseases; training nurses on safe and clean childbirth; and providing ambulances and laboratory equipment to three health facilities. The African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) Canada is working with AMREF Ethiopia to implement this project. This project is part of Canada s Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. The maximum CIDA contribution to this project includes $10,000 for monitoring purposes. / Le but de ce projet est de renforcer la capacité des systèmes de santé éthiopiens à dispenser des services de santé efficaces aux mères, aux nouveau-nés et aux enfants des collectivités nomades de la vallée d Omo. Par l entremise d une approche communautaire, le projet vise à : augmenter le nombre des femmes enceintes qui ont accès à des services de santé; augmenter la proportion des établissements de santé qui fournissent des soins de santé complets; réduire les taux de carences alimentaires qui ont un impact sur les accouchements sécuritaires et le développement des enfants. Les activités du projet comprennent la formation des sages-femmes et des travailleurs de la santé en soins obstétriques et néonataux d urgence, et en diagnostique et traitement du VIH/sida, du paludisme, de la tuberculose et des maladies transmises par l eau. Le projet inclut également la formation des infirmières en matière d accouchements sains et sécuritaires, et la mise en place d ambulances et d équipement de laboratoire aux trois établissements de santé. La African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) Canada réalise ce projet en collaboration avec AMREF Éthiopie. This program includes the development of curriculum to train nurse trainers, and delivery of a specialist training program to 100 nurses and nursing students in Ghana and around 30 in Ethiopia (in majority women). Graduates are deployed both as fellow nurse educators and paediatric nurses to clinical settings across both countries. The Program also aims to train front-line health workers in Tanzania in the provision of health services for children and adolescents. / Le Programme mondial de santé des enfants de SickKids vise à améliorer la qualité de services de santé infantile au Ghana à travers le développement et la mise en place d un programme de soins infirmiers pédiatriques à l Université du Ghana et à l Université d Addis Ababa en Ethiopie, en collaboration avec des partenaires locaux. Ce programme inclut le développement d un curriculum pour la formation d infirmiers formateurs et la livraison d un programme spécialisé de formation à 100 infirmiers et étudiants infirmiers au Ghana et environ 30 en Ethiopie (majoritairement des femmes). The Uniterra international vol...untary program aims to contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable development through national and regional sectoral approaches in 13 developing countries with the support of 2,500 volunteers. The Uniterra program focuses on strengthening the capacity of 225 key organizations that work in private sector development, governance, health, and education. More specifically, the program focuses on improving access to health and education services, markets, and political participation; fostering equality between women and men; engaging organizations in political dialogue in specific sectoral issues; and raising awareness among Canadians of national, regional, and global issues with regards to private sector development, governance, health, education, and equality between women and men. The Uniterra program is jointly operated by the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) and World University Services of Canada (WUSC). / Le programme de volontariat international Uniterra vise à contribuer par des approches sectorielles nationales et régionales à la réduction de la pauvreté et au développement durable dans 13 pays en développement avec l appui de 2 500 volontaires. This project contributes to th...e construction of a new 200-bed provincial hospital in Gonaïves. It is one of three parts of a $30-million initiative. The Gonaïves hospital initiative aims to improve access to and the quality of specialized health services for children, women, and men in Artibonite Department. It also aims to improve the health system in Haiti and to establish a replicable model for provincial-level hospitals in Haiti. The initiative includes the design, construction, and equipping of the new hospital. It also includes initial institutional support such as training in hospital management, hospital equipment usage, and maintenance, as well as specialized training in maternal, neonatal, and child health issues.The project is financially divided for administrative reasons. The sub-project I includes the majority of funds reserved for the design, construction and supervision; sub-project II includes $10 million allocated from Canada's Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health priority; and sub-project III represents funds set aside for monitoring and evaluation of the project.This sub-project represents funds set aside for monitoring of the Construction of the Artibonite Provincial Hospital in Gonaives project. For administrative reasons, sometimes the funds identified for this purpose are included in the main project budget and sometimes, as in this case, they are assigned a separate project number./ Ce projet contribue à la construction d'un nouvel hôpital départemental de 200 lits aux Gonaïves. Il s'agit d'un des trois volets d'une initiative de 30 millions de dollars. L'initiative de construction de l'hôpital aux Gonaïves vise à améliorer l'accès aux services de santé spécialisés, de même que leur qualité, pour les enfants, les femmes et les hommes dans le département de l'Artibonite. Elle vise aussi à améliorer le système de santé en Haïti et à établir un modèle à reproduire dans les hôpitaux départementaux. L'initiative comprend la conception, la construction et l'équipement du nouvel hôpital. Elle prévoit également un soutien institutionnel initial (notamment une formation sur la gestion hospitalière et sur l'utilisation et l'entretien de l'équipement hospitalier), de même qu'une formation spécialisée sur les questions relatives à la santé maternelle, néonatale et infantile.Le projet est divisé financièrement pour des raisons administratives. This project seeks to save the... lives of women, newborns and children in Kenya and Liberia. The Canadian Red Cross Society and its partners in Kenya and Liberia work with the Ministries of Health in those countries to deliver a program in Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM), an approach to improve the health of pregnant women, newborns and children in 44 hard-to access rural communities. The project expects to reach 66,000 beneficiaries, including 12,000 children under five years old and 26,000 women of childbearing age in West Pokot District in Kenya and Bomi, Gbarpolu and Grand Gedeh Counties in Liberia. Ministry of Health-supervised community health workers and volunteers are selected by Community Health Committees and trained in community based health and first aid, in order to treat and refer sick children, and ensure community-level access to life-saving medications and basic health services. / Ce projet vise à sauver la vie des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants au Kenya et au Libéria. La Société canadienne de la Croix-Rouge et ses partenaires au Kenya et au Libéria collaborent avec les ministères de la Santé de ces pays pour mettre en oeuvre un programme de prise en charge intégrée des cas dans la communauté (PEC-C), une approche visant à améliorer la santé des femmes enceintes, des nouveau-nés et des enfants dans 44 collectivités rurales difficiles d accès. Il est attendu que le projet rejoigne 66 000 personnes, dont 12 000 enfants de moins de cinq ans et 26 000 femmes en âge de procréer, dans le district de West Pokot au Kenya, et dans les comtés de Bomi, de Gbarpolu et de Grand Gedeh au Libéria. Des bénévoles et travailleurs de la santé communautaire supervisés par le ministère de la Santé sont sélectionnés par les comités de santé communautaire et formés aux soins de santé communautaire de base et aux premiers soins. Ces derniers peuvent ainsi traiter les enfants malades ou les diriger vers d autres centres de soins et garantir l accès des collectivités à des médicaments essentiels et à des services de soins de santé de base.

The project aims to help incre...ase the number and build the capacities of front-line health personnel. The project includes technical assistance to the Institut national de formation en sciences de la santé (INFSS) [national health sciences training institute], to its practice schools in Kayes, Sikasso, and Mopti, and to the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Odontostomatology (FMPOS) of the University of Bamako. The project also includes financial support for the INFSS to fund a portion of its operational plans. The project continues the support provided to the INFSS, since 2004, in organizational and administrative development, educational management, school organization, and ongoing staff training. The FMPOS benefits from support for clinical teaching of community medicine./ Le projet vise à contribuer à augmenter le nombre du personnel de première ligne en santé et à renforcer ses capacités. This project aims to improve t...he health and nutrition of newborns, children under five, and women of reproductive age in the Segou region of Mali, and in the Swabi district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan by improving the availability and use of health and nutrition services at the community level. Benefiting an estimated 330,000 children, 161,000 women and 1,600 local Ministry of Health workers, the project promotes the use of quality health, nutrition and family planning services, and improved health, nutrition and family planning behaviours of caregivers and family members. Activities include: training local Ministry of Health partners to support and supervise community health workers; training community health workers to assess and treat sick children, and provide family planning services; and educating families about healthy behaviours, signs of illnesses and seeking care. Save the Children Canada is working with the Mali and Pakistan ministries of health on this project. This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. / Ce projet améliore la santé et l'alimentation des nouveau-nés, des enfants de moins de cinq ans et des femmes en âge de procréer dans la région de Sikasso au Mali et du district de Swabi dans la province de Khyber Pakhtunkhwa au Pakistan, en assurant la disponibilité et l'utilisation des services de santé et de nutrition au niveau communautaire. This project aims to improve m...aternal, neonatal and child health (MNCH) in underserved populations of 26 districts and sub-districts of Ghana, Mali, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Reaching over 1.85 million people, including families and community health workers, the project uses a community-based approach and works to improve the quality of community outreach and MNCH services while encouraging health-seeking behaviours, and improved health care management. Activities include: training government health workers on basic obstetric and neonatal care, safe deliveries, and management of childhood illnesses; training health facility managers to strengthen quality control; equipping 63 health facilities and 30 maternity wards; conducting home visits for postnatal care; and helping communities address traditional cultural views impeding the use of health services. Plan Canada is working with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, UNICEF and ministries of health, to implement this project. This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. / Ce projet améliore la santé des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants des populations négligées dans 26 districts et sous-districts du Ghana, du Mali, d'Éthiopie, du Bangladesh et du Zimbabwe.
