more
|
TMEC: Meeting Targets and Main...taining Epidemic Control (EpiC)
more
|
Meeting Targets and Maintainin...g Epidemic Control (TMEC) will help meet or exceed PEPFAR targets for reaching adults, key, and priority populations by finding those who have not yet been identified as positive, linking those who are positive to treatment, and by keeping those on treatment virally suppressed. This mechanism will work with a range of stakeholders to ensure that host government health systems and host countries in general are able to maintain program gains with appropriately decreasing dependence on PEPFAR/USAID. EpiC can support USAID's response to address COVID-19, by preventing, preparing for, responding to, and bolstering health systems to address COVID-19 and re-emergence. Within the scope, EpiC can support Pillar 2 activities, including emergency health response, strengthening global health security in affected countries, and health systems support.

Caritas-Rwanda will continue t...o improve the nutritional status of mothers and children (especially those under 2 years of age) through community-based interventions in nine districts. The project will seek to improve the well-being of HIV/AIDS-affected orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and improve the nutritional status of adults living with HIV through cooking demonstrations, nutrition assessments (anthropometric measurements) and nutrition counseling. Of the 73,482 people supported under this program, 14,416 are OVCs, 36,000 are children under five years, and 7,200 are pregnant and lactating women. The project uses cost effective community-based solutions like internal savings and loan groups, farmers field schools and the positive deviance hearth model to address nutritional and financial needs of beneficiaries, with emphasis on resilience and empowerment through economic strengthening, food security, nutrition and hygiene, and increased access to health services.

Rwanda Social Marketing Progra...m (RSMP)

In Rwanda, the limited availab...ility of public health information remains a significant barrier to individual well-being and the promotion of public health goals. The Rwanda Social Marketing Program (RSMP) seeks to contribute to filling this gap by implementing health communication activities that increase access to health information and health products, and promote healthy behaviors among Rwandans on issues related to HIV and AIDS, malaria, family planning, and child survival. Target beneficiaries include vulnerable groups such as female sex workers (FSW), men who have sex with men (MSM), motorcycle taxi drivers, truck drivers, people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHIV), and caregivers of children under five.

The Improved Services for Vuln...erable Populations (ISVP) Activity aims to improve the protection of vulnerable populations against adverse circumstances. Global Communities is implementing the Improved Services for Vulnerable Populations (ISVP) Program, which aims to assist 50,000 vulnerable households in 12 districts. Locally known as USAID Twiyubake, the program is designed to build and enhance lasting self-reliance in a way that promotes mutual support. The program objectives include increasing capacity of families and communities to provide better care for vulnerable individuals, improving household and community care and support practices for vulnerable populations, especially children, and increasing access to education and social services for vulnerable populations.

Integrated Service Delivery an...d Healthy Behaviors (ISD-HB)
more
|
Integrated Service Delivery an...d Healthy Behaviors (ISD-HB) will help Senegal achieve the vision it outlines in its Plan Senegal Emergent: a Senegal where all individuals, all households, and all communities enjoy universal access to promotional, preventive, curative health services of quality, without any form of exclusion.
more
|
The "Integrated Health Service...s and Healthy Behaviors (ISD-HB)†project, also known as Neema, supports the Government of Senegal in its efforts to ensure that health services are improved in a sustainable manner and used effectively to reduce maternal, neonatal and child mortality and morbidity rates and contribute to the emergence of an AIDS-free generation. Implemented as part of USAID's Health Program 2016-2021, the Neema project is implemented by a consortium of NGOs led by IntraHealth International. The project combines support for service delivery in public health structures, community health system strengthening, the design, implementation of integrated communication strategies for social and behavior change (SBCC), research, monitoring and evaluation in priority health areas. The Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) leads the SBCC component of the Neema project and will be hosting the student in the project office in Dakar.

Through technical assistance a...nd support, FHI 360s Umbrella Grants Management (UGM) program has built capacity among 10 local South African organizations and three U.S.-based groups working in the areas of HIV education, prevention, care and treatment. The project provides grants to partner organizations to ensure they have adequate resources to scale up their HIV/AIDS activities, implement effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems, and promote continued health systems strengthening. Project strategies include training, technical assistance, mentoring and educational funding. The UGM program is implemented in five provinces across South Africa.

This award supports the facili...ty management, the district management and its District Health Management Teams and the provincial management. The goal of the project is to improve HIV-related population outcomes by: strengthening management systems at facilities, building the capacity of facility teams and management systems in coordination with the North West and Gauteng Provinces to support and integrate TB/HIV related services, supporting facilities in identifying and setting up policies and programs to improve the districts facility response to providing HIV/TB care, treatment, laboratory and prevention services to support transition to a sustained national comprehensive HIV/TB care and treatment program in line with GoSAs key priorities of PHC re-engineering and national health insurance. The overall strategy involves a roving team allocated to each sub-districts PHCs and CHCs, who are managed by a sub-district manager and supported by a back-up team based in the sub-district. These teams develop the capacity of DoH staff through targeted, on-site training and mentoring and mentor facility staff to apply their learning from previous training interventions to improve quality of care and services. Roving teams also provide additional training as required with follow-on mentoring.
