Fragile health systems are further stressed as health workers navigate an increased client load and demands at work while also being concerned for their own health and ...that of their families. Health facilities have been redesigned to care for patients with COVID-19, posing challenges to other services. Governments and civil society organizations have redirected scarce resources and shifted programming priorities to respond to the pandemic. Several countries have reported intermittent declines in HIV testing and diagnosis, antenatal care visits, collection of antiretroviral medicines (ARVs) by people living with HIV, and attendance at clinic appointments. Community-based education and support programmes have had to rapidly adapt to restrictions on movement and public gatherings. Children, adolescents, and women have experienced multiple deprivations due to the adverse impact of the pandemic.

The framework is primarily intended for use by EiE practitioners in humanitarian contexts. However, it is also relevant at the global level or in development settings in support of planning and emergency preparedness. It is best used in conjunction with the Core Humanitarian Competency Framework (CHCF) and where applicable, the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA) Competency Framework. It is transferable across people, countries, and cultures and can be a valuable tool for entry-, mid-, and senior level professional development.

This report reviews and analyses the Affordable Medicines Programme, which was introduced in Ukraine in April 2017 to provide patients with improved access to 23 outpatient medicines for the treatment of chronic noncommunicable diseases. The evaluation combines both quantitative and qualitative anal...ysis. The findings confirm that the Programme has contributed to a significant increase in access to needed outpatient medicines in Ukraine. Further, while implementation was successful overall, uptake across regions was uneven. The report concludes by listing a number of policy options to support the sustainability and expansion of the Affordable Medicines Programme.

The guide's primary goals are to raise awareness of malaria elimination, encourage long-term commitment from decision-makers and mobilise sustainable resources. The guide outlines two strategic objectives: (1) creating a shared understanding of the long-term requirements for malaria elimination, including funding, surveillance and multi-sectoral engagement, and (2) expanding support among public, private and cross-sectoral stakeholders. With malaria cases having already reduced by 88% since 2000, the guide emphasises the importance of maintaining focus and investment in order to fully eliminate the disease and prevent its re-establishment in Central America.

In order to improve access to malaria services in remote mining areas of Guyana, the Ministry of Health and PAHO implemented a community case management programme, training workers in mining camps to test for and treat uncomplicated malaria. However, formative research by Breakthrough ACTION Guyana ...found that awareness of these services among miners was low. In response, the project supported the development of social and behavioural change (SBC) interventions to increase the visibility of volunteer malaria testers (VMTs), strengthen their counselling skills and improve retention by recognising their contributions.

Le mémoire porte sur la conception et la mise en œuvre d’une campagne de communication pour promouvoir la chimio-prévention du paludisme saisonnier (CPS) chez les enfants de 3 à 59 mois au Cameroun, une stratégie recommandée par l’OMS dans les zones de forte transmission saisonnière. L’...auteure part du constat que, malgré l’introduction de la CPS dans certaines régions camerounaises, sa mise en œuvre reste confrontée à une faible appropriation communautaire, à des résistances sociales et à un manque de communication adaptée.
L’objectif du travail est de concevoir une stratégie de communication sociale et comportementale visant à renforcer l’adhésion des communautés à cette intervention. Le mémoire s’appuie sur une analyse situationnelle approfondie, intégrant des données épidémiologiques, socioculturelles et communicationnelles. Il propose ensuite une campagne ciblée, articulée autour de messages clairs, de canaux adaptés (radios communautaires, agents de santé, leaders locaux) et de supports visuels compréhensibles.
La campagne vise à sensibiliser les parents, en particulier les mères, sur les avantages de la CPS, à corriger les fausses croyances, à encourager l’observance du traitement, et à renforcer la confiance envers les agents communautaires.
