STUDY REPORT | This study of the impact of the Nepal earthquake of 25 April, 2015, aims to understand the impact factors leading to the exclusion of older people and persons with disabilities from humanitarian action, barriers to their inclusion, and the extent to which their skills and knowledge we...re utilised to promote inclusive humanitarian action and, using this understanding, to formulate a set of recommendations for promoting inclusion. These recommendations will be used to sensitise the broader humanitarian community to the need for inclusive disaster risk management practices in future emergency responses which pay attention to factors such as gender, age, disability and ethnicity, and build upon the capacities of older people and persons with disabilities.

On Sunday 16th December 2018, some villages in the Province of Mai-Nambiar, Democratic Republic of Congo, neighboring the district of Makotimpoko in the Republic of Congo (CongoBrazzaville) were affected by inter-ethnic conflict between the Banunu and the Batende. The fighting has resulted in 400 fa...talities and the destruction of property. A large number of the population of the conflict affected areas were forced to cross the river Congo and find refuge in several localities in the Cuvette (Konda and Youmba) and Plateaux (Makotimpoko, Bouemba, Patrick) areas in Congo-Brazzaville.

However, pandemics cripple health systems and compromise provision routine medical care. This technical note gives general guidance to people living with NCDs, their caregivers and family members, the public, health programme managers and health-care workers on how to reduce risks of a COVID-19 infection and maintain care for people living with NCDs during the outbreak.

United Kingdom (UK) and United States of America (USA) have clearly shown increasing deaths from ischemic heart disease, stroke and hypertensive disease due to COVID-19. Overall, the impact has been greater in individuals with lower socioeconomic status, even in high income nations.

Die „klassische“ Posttraumatische Belastungsstörung (PTBS) ist gekennzeichnet durch Intrusionen, Vermeidung und Hyperausal. Die komplexe Posttraumatische... Belastungsstörung (KPTBS) wird als eigenständige Diagnose in das ICD-11 aufgenommen und tritt als Folge von sich wiederholenden oder langandauernden traumatischen Ereignissen auf. Die KPTBS ist neben den Symptomen der PTBS durch Affektregulationsstörungen, negative Selbstwahrnehmung und Beziehungsstörungen gekennzeichnet. Aktuelle empirische Studien lieferten Hinweise für die Validität dieser Diagnose. Die Exposition in sensu mit dem traumatischen Ereignis steht im Mittelpunkt der als erfolgreich evaluierten Psychotherapien der PTBS und der KPTBS. Zur differenziellen Wirkung einzelner traumafokussierter Verfahren bei KPTBS können jedoch noch keine eindeutigen Empfehlungen ausgesprochen werden.
