of a conjunctival smear that revealed the presence of what are known as, intracytoplasmic inclusions Trachoma is easily spread through direct personal contact such as from fingers, through shared towels and clothes, and through flies that have been in contact with the eyes or nose of an infected person. When left untreated, repeated Chlamydia trachomatis infections in the eye can cause severe scarring on the inside of the eyelid. This can cause the eyelashes to scratch the cornea (trichiasis). In addition to causing pain, trichiasis permanently damages the cornea and can lead to irreversible blindness.
Chlamydia trachomatis infections spread in areas that lack access to safely managed drinking water and sanitation systems. Trachoma affects the most resource-limited communities in the world. Globally, almost 1.9 million people have vision loss because of trachoma, and it causes 1.4% of all blindness worldwide.1 In 2021, 136 million people lived in trachoma-endemic areas and were at risk of trachoma blindness.

This methodology note describes two iterations of AidData’s methodology. The first, based on a crosswalk with existing aid reporting schemes, was employed for AidData’s 2017 flagship report Realizing Agenda 2030: Will donor dollars and country priorities align with global goals? and our brief Financing the SDGs in Colombia. The second iteration of the methodology employs a direct coding scheme, linking development projects directly to the SDGs through analysis and coding of project descriptions rather than through an intermediary classification system. La OMS ha denunciado un incremento del 25% solo en las tasas de depresión y ansiedad durante la pandemia. La Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos estima que el coste de la depresión y la ansiedad para la economía mundial asciende a 1 billón de dólares estadounidenses al año. Todas las enfermeras tienen una función de prestación de cuidados en materia de salud mental y consumo de sustancias. El CIE aboga firmemente por inversiones en más formación y desarrollo profesional en esta área con el fin de ayudar a las personas y comunidades a lograr el mayor nivel posible de salud, en particular bienestar físico, mental y social.
