The country has also adopted a National Strategy for the Protection and Promotion of Persons with Disabilities (SN-3PH, 2012), based on, amongst other approaches, Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR), promoted by the WHO and LIGHT FOR THE WORLD. Following on from the 2011-2015 country strategy that enabled LIGHT FOR THE WORLD to contribute strongly to the national dialogue on disability, the present strategy 2016-2020 aims to strengthen our achievements in order to work towards an inclusive society in which persons with disabilities fully enjoy their rights.

personnes handicapées (FEBAH) évalue à 66% le nombre de personnes en situation de handicap n’ayant aucun niveau d’instruction et seulement 16,5% ayant atteint le niveau primaire. Ces estimations contrastent avec celles de l’OMS et de la Banque mondiale (15% de la population mondiale sont en situation de handicap). Le champ de l’éducation inclusive se caractérisant au Burkina Faso par une absence de données quantitatives systématisées, de telles contradictions peuvent avoir des effets négatifs sur la planification éducative et les efforts déployés par les différents partenaires pour atteindre l’EPT.

Pests and disease epidemics negatively impact the quality, quantity and safety of our food sources, and cripple economic growth and efficiencies in production. Furthermore, the epidemic and endemic levels of the pathogens and disease vectors can be difficult to control. This is why FAO stresses and promotes the special efforts required for cost-effective preventive measures rather than the more expensive control, disinfestation, treatment and disposal measures. When preventive measures are late or difficult, preparedness and contingency plans must be in place to enable rapid response. Early warning systems, based on close monitoring, surveillance, and timely reporting are fundamental to warn and empower communities to safeguard their livelihoods and assets by enhancing disease and pest prevention measures and for government services to take immediate measures to protect communities and national economies.

Le personnel de la santé joue un rôle primordial, en ce qui concerne la protection de leurs clients contre les maladies infectieuses et leurs traitements en cas d’infection. Dans le cadre de leur travail, le personnel de santé accomplisse des tâches cliniques ou autres activités susceptibles de les exposer ainsi que leurs clients aux microorganismes – orga- nismes potentiellement infectieux. Bon nombre de ces clients sont malades et, par conséquent, sont plus vulnérables aux infections ou peuvent avoir des infec-tions susceptibles d’être transmises à d’autres personnes. Par chance, l’ensemble du personnel travaillant dans les services de santé est en mesure d’exécuter des procédés simples visant à minimiser le risque – vis-à-vis d’eux-mêmes et de leurs clients – et réduire la propagation des infections. Ces pratiques peuvent être intégrées à moindre frais dans les habitudes quotidiennes au sein des établissements de santé du monde entier. Ce guide de référence est spécialement conçu pour l’emploi à tous les niveaux du système sanitaire, depuis les plus grands hôpitaux jusqu’aux plus petits dispensaires ou centres de santé, dans des établissements où les ressources sont rares.Ce guide, publié pour la première fois en 1999, a été mis à jour. Bien que la plu-part des pratiques restent inchangées, il a fait l’objet de quelques modifications significatives – par exemple, concernant les recommandations liées au lavage des mains et aux précautions standard. ressed in mg/kg of estimated biomass, were compared at country and European level. Substantial variations between countries were observed in both sectors. Estimated data on AMC for pigs and poultry were used for the first time. Univariate and multivariate analyses were applied to study associations between AMC and AMR. In 2014, the average AMC was higher in animals (152 mg/kg) than in humans (124 mg/kg), but the opposite applied to the median AMC (67 and 118 mg/kg, respectively). In 18 of 28 countries, AMC was lower in animals than in humans. Univariate analysis showed statistically-significant (p < 0.05) associations between AMC and AMR for fluoroquinolones and Escherichia coli in both sectors, for 3rd- and 4th-generation cephalosporins and E. coli in humans, and tetracyclines and polymyxins and E. coli in animals. In humans, there was a statistically-significant association between AMC and AMR for carbapenems and polymyxins in Klebsiella pneumoniae. Consumption of macrolides in animals was significantly associated with macrolide resistance in Campylobacter coli in animals and humans. Multivariate analyses provided a unique approach to assess the contributions of AMC in humans and animals and AMR in bacteria from animals to AMR in bacteria from humans. Multivariate analyses demonstrated that 3rd- and 4th-generation cephalosporin and fluoroquinolone resistance in E. coli from humans was associated with corresponding AMC in humans, whereas resistance to fluoroquinolones in Salmonella spp. and Campylobacter spp. from humans was related to consumption of fluoroquinolones in animals. These results suggest that from a ‘One-health’ perspective, there is potential in both sectors to further develop prudent use of antimicrobials and thereby reduce AMR.
