While the three-country sample is too small to permit findings to be generalized to other countries, these analyses are useful for informing UNAIDS’ work to identify some policy positions to minimize the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the HIV response.

-19 at each district and upazila respectively, with support and guidance from elected representatives and local administration, and through effective engagement of various segments of society including informal health care providers, religious leaders, journalists, police and law enforcement agencies, etc. The toolkit draws extensively from the experiences in Chapainawabganj, Savar and other areas and contains relevant best practises that have already proven effective in these places, which should be readily adaptable to various contexts.
It is important to note that while this framework has been developed in the context of COVID-19 and with related best practises, it is by no means limited to COVID-19 response. Indeed, the experience from Savar shows that the same approach has proven extremely effective in combating the dengue outbreak and the severe floods in 2020, and hence can be used to combat future public health emergencies in Bangladesh and other countries having similar contexts.

, malaria, seasonal influenza, leptospirosis, chikungunya, scrub typhus and bacterial infections often present with febrile syndromes that mimic or co-exist with SARS-CoV-2 infection, complicating diagnosis and treatment. This document provides guidelines for preventing, diagnosing and managing such co-infections. A high level of suspicion is essential during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons, taking into account region-specific disease prevalence. While the WHO's case definition for SARS-CoV-2 is broad and sensitive, the need for parallel testing for co-infections, in accordance with the protocols of the MoHFW, ICMR, NVBDCP and NCDC, is necessitated by overlapping clinical features. Ensuring the availability of reliable rapid diagnostic kits and applying integrated clinical and laboratory approaches are crucial to improving patient outcomes in the context of concurrent infections.

WHO therefore called for case studies on programmatic innovations that address emerging challenges in TB prevention and care during the pandemic in order to collect and disseminate the findings to the TB community. Between November 2020 and February 2021, a total of 23 case studies relevant to the call were accepted from 19 countries in the six regions of WHO. The lessons learnt from these country activities to ensure the continuity of essential services like TB care in the face of the crippling crisis may also inform strategies for minimizing the impact of future emerging pathogens on health services.

El 4 de febrero de 2020, el Director General de la OMS informó al Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas y pidió que se activara la política de gestión de crisis de las Naciones Unidas para establecer un equipo de gestión de crisis (CMT por sus siglas en inglés) que coordinara la ampliación a todo el sistema de las Naciones Unidas para ayudar a los países a prepararse para COVID-19 y responder a esta.
